INTRODUCING: Meet Brindi, one of our beloved residents at the shelter. We rarely have cats in residence for long, but this sweet girl has been patiently waiting all summer for her special family to come pick her up. Sadly, she is frequently overlooked because of how shy she is.

Though she may need a little time to get used to new people, Brindi is a loving and loyal companion who just wants some love. Once she becomes comfortable, she is welcoming of cuddles and affection, and would be the perfect companion for someone as gentle as she is. Could that be you?

NATIONAL DOG DAY: At Seminole County Animal Services, every day is dog day – but on National Dog Day we are celebrating some amazing recent successes. 🐾💙

Our longest resident Merci was adopted! Her new parents saw her on WESH 2’s Clear the Shelter coverage and specifically came in to meet her. They fell in love and Merci now has three fur siblings at home. Does her face not say it all?

Princess also found her home recently when her new family came in looking for a calm dog. Princess fit the bill, and something tells us she is going to be SPOILED.

And last but not least, Kinipopo found a Momma and a home too! This social fella has been a playgroup star for weeks now, and we just know his new Mom – who happens to be a Veterinary Tech! - is going to adore him. After seeing him online she finally decided to come in and meet Kinipopo, and it was love at first sight for both.

We love every success story and celebrate these happy adoptions on National Dog Day, and every day. With new dogs coming into the shelter every day, every win matters!

PUPDATE❗️:....that was fast. Pups are all adopted!

PUPPY ALERT: Check out our latest babies in need of homes! These fawn colored Boxer mix pups are only 8 weeks old, and at that age – the shelter just isn’t the place for them to grow. Coming in as strays, they have been putting on weight, but would thrive in a home atmosphere. Come adopt at Seminole County Animal Services or ask about our foster program.

Who wouldn’t fall in love with Rocket, Cupid, Abby and Tom?? 💙🩷

INTRODUCING: Looking for a pup to be all up in your business? Velcro dog Geenie is your girl! This sweet elderly lady is just a lapdog in need of love. At 8 years old, Geenie is mellow and calm during playgroups without a ton of energy bursts. She is well trained, good on a leash, and knows sit and down.

This happy girl has been at the shelter since May, but she deserves a home of her own where she can cuddle on the couch and get all the attention. 🩷

RILEY NEEDS A HOME: Last month, Riley was brought into our shelter in need of emergency surgery. Now, after successfully recovering in the care of her loving foster home, it’s our hope that Riley finds her forever family. Riley is a laidback dog who loves to fall asleep at her owner’s feet, but has plenty of energy to play with other dogs. Crate-trained, potty-trained, and growing more confident every day, Riley has what it takes to become a beloved member of your family.

Are you in search of a new addition to the family? Contact Seminole County Animal Services at (407) 665-5201 to set up a personal meet-and-greet with Riley today!

FEATURED ON FOX35: Butch needs a home! This morning, FOX35 Orlando featured Butch, a well-mannered big boy originally from Orange County, who has been in residence at Seminole County Animal Services for several months now. Butch spends most of his days as an office dog, hanging out on a bed, eating all the treats and greeting new friends. But he deserves a family of his own!

Butch is easygoing by nature, good around children, and excels in dog play groups. He's eager to learn, is communicative with his needs, and would thrive in any home. Could it be yours? ❤🐾

PET HEAT SAFETY: As the dog days of summer continue, it’s important that pet parents consider their four-legged friend during extreme heat conditions.

Show care for your furry friend by providing them with extra water when outdoors, protecting their paws from hot asphalt, and NEVER leaving them unattended in a vehicle.

Our cat and canine companions can also experience heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion. Signs of the condition include panting, vomiting, warm and dry skin, and collapsing.

The summer heat is ruff but having a sweet companion by your side helps you to sweat it a little less. 😉🐾❤️

BEST OF THE BEST: Seminole County Animal Services is thankful for ALL of the amazing volunteers and foster families that continuously lend a helping hand, aiding in our mission to care for all the animals in need. And an extra BIG thank you to two of the very best, Mary Beth Campbell and Patty Heising!

Mary Beth has been opening up her home to foster cats and kitten litters since 2018, and in that time, has created a safe space for close to 200 fosters! During the peak of kitten season, she can have multiple kitten litters to care for.

And Patty is a regular at the shelter, volunteering in the free roaming cat room three to four times a week, for a few hours each visit. If you’ve ever adopted a cat from the shelter, chances are – you’ve met Patty!

Thank you, Patty and Mary Beth -- our Volunteer and Foster of the Quarter! 👏

Our Story

Effective September 1, 2014, Seminole County Animal Services (SCAS) will only accept those animals that were found within Seminole County and have been brought to our shelter by Seminole County residents (photo identification is required). While this policy is intended to cover the processing of stray animals received over the counter, it also covers owner-surrendered animals unless those same animals had been adopted from our shelter. This policy does not affect the adoption process, which remains open to the general public. For the purposes of public safety, it is highly recommended that any person that observes stray animals within Seminole County should avoid contact with same and immediately report the situation to our shelter. It also remains the responsibility of residents of other counties to locate resources for their owned animals within their own municipalities, and to locate other options that may be available to them if they were to travel to Seminole County. Please be sure to contact our shelter at phone #407-665-5201 with any questions regarding this policy. Our adoption shelter is equipped to hold approximately 80-100 dogs and 75-100 cats and is typically full. Seminole County Animal Services has your purr-fect match! Please visit all the wonderful cats, dogs, birds and small animals that we have for adoption!
