As May is Arthritis Awareness Month, our newsletter highlights arthritis in cats and dogs. There are a variety of supplements that can be given to protect and support the joints, as well as slow down the progression of arthritis and reduce inflammation.

March is Pet Poison Awareness Month!

When picking plants for your house and yard it is important to keep mind if it is safe for your fur baby. We have listed a few plants that should stay out of your house for your pet’s safety.

There are a variety of plants that are toxic to cats and dogs, so make sure to do a little research before purchasing a plant that could be harmful.

Palms & Paws have some new friends! Our friends at the Santa Monica Animal Shelter came to us in need of hand rearing for three little kittens. Members of our team gladly stepped up to help! When they were brought to us they were about a week old. Our team has done a tremendous job taking care of them over the past week and a half! Follow us to follow their journey and watch them grow. 🥹😍🐱🐾

Receiving a vaccine for animals is a lot like receiving a vaccine for humans. When you get a new vaccine you always want to be aware of the possible side effects and monitor yourself after vaccination. The same goes for your furry companion. Most vaccine reactions are mild, but whenever your pet is receiving a vaccine for the first time, you want to be aware of the possible side effects and monitor your pet post vaccination. Reactions typically declare themselves within a few hours after receiving the vaccine. It is important to contact your vet if your pet is displaying signs of a reaction after vaccination and in more critical situations, seek urgent/ emergency care. Furthermore, it is important to inform your veterinarian if your pet has a history of vaccine reactions, so your pet can be vaccinated appropriately and safely.

Happy New year everyone! And Happy 1 year anniversary to Palms & Paws. This past year has been quite a journey. We are truly grateful to everyone who has made this past year such a success. From the doctors, treatment team, client service coordinators, practice manager, and most importantly all of our wonderful patients and clients. Thank you for being apart of this journey with us. Here’s to many more years of growth. Hope you enjoy our first newsletter of the year!💙

Happy holidays! To continue our mantra of being others oriented, we’re ending the year by giving back to our community through a shelter drive! From now through the first week of January, we will have a box in the front lobby where you can donate food, toys, blankets etc. Many animal shelters are overcrowded and understaffed and the least we can do to help is make sure they have the supplies to provide these animals with love and care. All donations will be going to local shelters. The holiday season is a time to spread joy and giveback, so if you’d like to donate stop by! 🐾💙

Meet Dolly! She is our newest Palms & Paws resident. Dolly is a 1 year old spayed female Domestic Shorthair. She is a little shy at first, but once she warms up to you she is super sweet and affectionate. During opening and closing time, she loves to explore the treatment area and play with toys. Dolly had some self inflicted wounds that we suspect were the result of food allergies, but the healing process has been going wonderfully and she is just about ready to go to her forever home. Last week we had a very special visitor, Honey 🍯! Some of you might remember that she came to us in urgent need of medical attention. We took care of her, nursed her back to health, and found her a loving home! She recently came in for some routine testing and she's doing amazingly well in her new home. We were all overjoyed to see her progress. Stories like these are just some of the reasons why we're so passionate about what we do at Palms & Paws🐾❤️. If you have any heartwarming experiences with pets or animals, we'd love to hear them too! Share your stories in the comments below.
