Thank you Realm of Lapine for letting me share!

I want to post this picture because i think it is a good opportunity to teach. It has become the norm for people to buy based on pictures alone and I think it's a good talking point. People get frustrated with me sometimes because I tend to ask a lot of questions about their current rabbits when they inquire about sale ones. I do this because i want to make sure what i have to offer is soemthing that will be of benefit with their current stock. That being said, i very rarely get people who ask for specific features (ie: i need a rabbit with a great crown to help my herd) they just tend to want to go based on pictures alone. This doe, pictured in this post is a Grand Champion. She truly is a stunning rabbit, but from this picture alone it would be hard to say that. She definitely looks long, and looks slipped in the crown, and you can clearly see that back ear is above 90 degrees. She is plucked along her belly (she is on litter) which makes her bone look longer and finer and definitely not full through the midsection. She is full of milk so her topline is incorrect and very different than it normally is when she sits comfortably. This doe looks like a mess. I know a lot of breeders wouldnt post something like this, but I think it is important to normalize showing your best at their worst, because this is a great example of how condition makes way more of an impact than 5 points. So my main points here are these: don't only rely on pictures and videos when you buy, also ask questions to the breeder; and also if you have a bad placement in a show, take some time to check condition and if its not prime, then work on getting that back and show again to see how they do in better condition. Dont get discouraged by one bad show.

So, sweepstakes results are out for the first half of the year.
I don't really pay much attention, unless someone posts their results. I don't hit too many shows due to my work schedule & travel distance.
Well.... thank you to a wonderful friend (Dasha Ireland - Coastal Treasures Rabbitry)! I got this message!

I am in top 100 for open sweepstakes! I am in top 10 for my zone (9)! And for quality points!

Needless to say, I am ABSOLUTELY STUNNED! 😲

But for as amazing as this is, what makes this hobby so amazing & fun, is the AMAZING friends I've made & continue making! The ones who are SO EXCITED for my accomplishments! 🥰❤️ The ones who offer their support & advice. Those who bridge gaps & give a boost up. The ones who take a chance & entrust their rabbits to me to be put to good use. These people are what makes breeding/raising & showing Hollands SO WORTH all the challenges we face day to day in our barns!

Thank you to each & every one of my friends! 🥰❤️

PB&J 610

Siblings x JC's
Also has Lund Lops.
4 yr old doe. Yes, she's older, but she should still have a few litters left before retiring her. She's an easy breeder. Hasn't missed.
She has a singleton right now, born 6-2-24 Littermate died.

If you need to fix your ear placements, this is the doe you're looking for! She also has a lot of junk in the trunk!
She needs a buck with bigger bone & better width.

Run #3 is in progress & I'm hearing reports it's BAD!

VERY well said!

Here's a topic that I'd like to talk about. I've been asked a lot in the past year to see pictures of the parents of my available rabbits. This seems to be really popular among new breeders. I probably sound rude AF when I basically say no. There's a few reasons for this. Let me see if I can break this down so people don't think I'm being a b**** .

Besides the fact that I just don't want to dig through to find pictures of rabbits that I may not even own anymore. Your purchasing the rabbit in question, not it's parents. The parents could be two of the ugliest rabbits but the kits turn out awesome, are you going to pass on a nice rabbit because the parents looked ugly? Many of my does are brood quality. Some of the BEST producing does I have, have never set foot on a show table. Many of my show winners came from some not as nice stuff. It's all a parts game. Two GC rabbits can produce some really awful rabbits. Just because the parents looked a certain way doesn't mean the offspring will. Here's where learning type is super important. It can be hard to purchase rabbits from pictures, and I get that. But ask the important questions based on what you need to improve your herd. Seeing my herd, will not change yours. You need to understand your herd needs and see if this particular rabbit will help you. Does your herd need better bone? Then purchase rabbits with good bone density. Does your herd need a better head shape? Do you need better body, then grab a rabbit with a solid body. Also seeing the parents is not going to tell you what that rabbit will produce, that's all on genetics and who you chose to breed it to.

What I'm trying to say is, look for rabbits with those characteristics to help improve your herds faults. Seeing said rabbits great grandma isn't helping you, great grandma could have had longer limbs but with good success future offspring have shorter limb. I did the work to pick who in my herd should be bred to get what I was going for. You have to pick what rabbits should be bred to help you with YOUR herd. Hope that makes sense.

I read this back in 2019 and wanted to share one of the best all natural cure alls! 😊 (besides herbs)

GRAPEFRUIT SEED EXTRACT (GSE)
It’s uses include but are not limited to are: antiparasitic, antifungal, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiviral and I’ve found it to be a useful antibiotic.

General Information

Grapefruit seed extract, also known as citrus seed extract, is a liquid extract derived from the seeds, pulp, and white membranes of grapefruit. GSE is prepared by grinding the grapefruit seed and juiceless pulp, then mixing with glycerin.
GSE is used in agriculture for eliminating fungi and bacteria, preventing mold growth, killing parasites in animal feeds, and helping preserve food and disinfect water. Many disinfectants use GSE as an ingredient, and it's also used as a natural preservative in products to help eliminate bacteria and mold contaminants.
Grapefruit seed extract uses are numerous due to its action as a highly concentrated, natural general antimicrobial and antioxidant. Benefits include killing all kinds of infectious microbes—bacterial, viral, and fungal—at least in test tube and animal studies.

Warnings About Grapefruit Seed Extract
Grapefruit juice and possibly other grapefruit products, including grapefruit seed extract, are known to interact with certain drugs and may lead to serious adverse reactions. Grapefruit inhibits certain enzyme systems within the body most often involved in drug metabolism. This increases blood concentrations of the drugs concerned, creating a risk of overdose and dose-dependent adverse effects. Grapefruit seed extract can sometimes cause skin irritation when used topically. The liquid grapefruit seed concentrates should always be diluted; never use full strength and avoid contact with eyes or other sensitive areas.

Medical Overview

Liquids and/or capsules can be used whether the infection is on the skin; in the ears, nose, or mouth; or in the gastrointestinal tract.

1.Contains Powerful Antimicrobials

Grapefruit seed extract contains potent compounds that can kill more than 60 types of yeasts and bacteria
Test-tube studies have shown that it can even be as effective as some commonly prescribed topical antifungal and antibacterial medications, such as nystatin
GSE kills bacteria by breaking down their outer membranes, causing them to burst open after just 15 minutes of exposure.
It kills yeast cells by causing apoptosis, a process in which cells self-destruct

2. Packs Antioxidants
Grapefruit seed extract contains many powerful antioxidants that can protect your body from oxidative damage caused by free radicals.
Oxidative damage has been linked to many chronic illnesses, including heart disease and diabetes

Studies on grapefruit seeds and grapefruit seed extracts have found that both are rich in vitamin E, flavonoids, essential oils and polyphenols — all of which act as antioxidants in your body

The polyphenol naringin is found in very high concentrations in grapefruit seeds. In fact, it’s what gives grapefruit its bitter taste.
Naringin has strong antioxidant abilities and has been found to protect tissues against radiation damage in mice!

3.Antifungal

GSE Benefits Include Killing Candida and Treating Digestive Symptoms
Grapefruit seed extract is perhaps best known for its ability to treat digestive disturbances and kill pathogens, especially fungal pathogens like Candida albicans, in the gastrointestinal tract. Effective in people with symptoms eczema and IBS. A study showed significant improvement in both after a month of use. However note that if you are using GSE then you will need to use probiotics as well. It tends to wipe out the good flora as well as the bad.

4.Antiparasitic

Pretty self explanatory. Useful for killing intestinal parasites in animals and humans alike. I will point out again that you will need to use probiotics as well.

5.Antibacterial

It will eliminate bacteria but again it will kill both good and bad... just a warning. Effective use is to use a drop on your hands when cleaning up get rid of anything bad that may be left behind.

GRAPEFRUIT SEED EXTRACT MEDICAL USES
Among the multiple grapefruit seed extract uses are the following:
* Throat gargle (for colds and sore throats)
* Mouthwash (for gums and dental health)
* Nasal/sinus wash (for sinus infections and colds)
* Ear drops
* Digestive disturbances (including candida and traveler’s diarrhea)
* Skin wounds (prepare for the burn though)
* Fruit and Veggie wash
* Water disinfectant
* Kills parasites and worms
* Weightloss
* Asthma: Some research shows that eating vitamin C-rich citrus fruits, including grapefruit and others, might improve lung function in people with asthma. But other studies have not shown this benefit.
* Eczema (atopic dermatitis): Early research shows that grapefruit seed extract can decrease constipation, gas, and stomach discomfort in people with eczema. This benefit may be due to the effect of grapefruit on intestinal bacteria.
* High cholesterol: Early research suggest that taking grapefruit pectin daily for 16 weeks decreases total cholesterol and the ratio of low-density lipoprotein (LDL or "bad") cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein (HDL or "good") cholesterol compared to baseline.
* High blood fats called triglycerides. Eating one grapefruit per day appears to reduce total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL or "bad") cholesterol, and triglyceride levels in people with high triglyceride levels.
* Lice: Early research shows that applying a shampoo containing grapefruit extract to the hair of children for 10-20 minutes kills lice. Applying the shampoo again 10 days later helps remove any remaining nits.
* Depression.
* Hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis).
* Infections.
* Muscle tiredness.
* Preventing cancer.
* Promoting hair growth.
* Psoriasis.
* Reducing acne and oily skin.
* Stress.
* Treating headaches.
* Toning the skin.
* Yeast infections (as a vaginal do**he).

RABBIT USES

As you can see from the info above, GSE can be used efficiently and effectively to treat many different ailments however it is my go to for treatment of parasites and worms. Use @10 drops per gallon for 21 days to eliminate any parasites or worms that may be present. It also gives an immune boost to your bunnies so even if there doesn’t end up being any parasites or worms it will not harm our buns.
You can use with raw pumpkin seeds if worms are heavily present.
It is great for treating inner ear/ear infections too. Both humans and rabbits alike. 1-2 drops put directly into the canal twice a day for 5-7 days. Massage the base. It helps distribute it a bit more.
I love GSE for its effectiveness but as well as it being natural.

This special girl is still 👀 for her FUREVER home!
She will make a GREAT companion! She LOVES to be held & snuggled! Pets are also encouraged! 😍

She hurt her back I'm November. She would drag her back legs/army crawl. She could scoot them up under herself so she could sit upright. She was never incontinent or sitting in her own waste. Keeps herself very clean.

She is healing so well! Will never be able to be bred...I don't want to put that kind of stress on her back...fear of reinjuring herself... she "walks" more than hops, but she will get the Bunny zoomies & race around like a wild child! 😂 She loves life & is so happy!

I don't know how or if her injury will affect her as she ages. But she needs a family who will love her unconditionally & take care of her. She will live you & take care of you too!

She is STUNNING! Only thing I DON'T like is her ears. Thin & a fold. She could also have more mass to her. But, WOW! She's got a lot going for her! Debating if she should go back to her sire or half brother...

Was on the show table in New Jersey beginning of the year & got AMAZING comments on her! She's hanging out & growing up! And molting... 😝
She's FINALLY growing & putting on weight. I cut her hay down to twice a week. She'd eat mainly hay & leave her pellets. Now I'm filling her dish twice a day except for when she gets her hay! 😂🤦‍♀️

Unfortunately I lost the black Saturday night. Not sure what happened. It always looked fed, just not near as big or round as these guys. So I'm guessing he got pushed aside? I was going to give him an extra nursing session & hold him & mama, but till I got out he was gone. 😢

I'm encouraging you to GROW YOUR KITS! These are pictures of my 3 keepers from 2 different litters. Half siblings. They are before, during & after pictures.

I was so excited for these guys! Had shown the litter in New Jersey at the beginning of January. 4 judges all had great comments. Just needed more time to grow up & fill out. Very promising. Fast forward to just after PASRBA (I didn't show them, needed more time) & they started their uglies & looking like they were falling apart! 😭 I couldn't have been more DEVASTATED or discouraged! They were looking beautiful! And now.... well I pulled them out tonight as they all needed a good brushing. They're starting to molt everywhere! I had to grab pictures & they are looking beautiful again! Still have some filling out to do & finishing. But they are definitely coming out of their uglies!

This time of year, every year,4H/FFA parents are scrambling to find the perfect show rabbit for their child. And every year the backyard breeders are gearing up to take advantage of the unknowledgeable unsuspecting parents. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE parents, do your homework. You are going to encounter breeders trying to sell you crossbreds, unrecognized colors, neutered, etc. all unshowable in most county fairs. Take your time and check them out. If a breeder is marketing multiple bunnies of multiple breeds, You shouldn't have to ask why. That's someone just wanting to sell as many as possible. Never accept a bunny under 8 weeks old. The actual show quality of a rabbit can not be properly accessed until between 12 to 16 weeks. There is a big difference between showable and show quality. Don't let them tell you differently. Be prepared to pay a fair price. If you choose the 5-dollar rabbit over a 50-dollar one, that may be just what you get. But expensive doesn't always equal quality either. Most fairs are now using ARBA standards for rabbit judging. Trust me, the judges aren't looking for the pretty or the most unusual rabbit as some will try to lead you to believe. Breeders that are in this for the profits WILL LIE to make that sale. RESEARCH THE BREED! RESEARCH THE BREEDER TOO! A lot will talk about a really good game. They will tell you how much they show, how much they win. Check them out. Reputable breeders will have the proof of success in one form or another. Ask for it! Most importantly, ask and take the advice from others. Now I don't mean someone that showed last year in 4H or someone that is just starting out and thinks they know all there is to know. All who offer advice are not knowledgeable themselves. Ask veteran breeders/exhibitors, most will help no matter what you need. I WANT to see the kids I've sold to win, whether it's a single class, breed, or the whole show. Not everybody can win but you don't want to purchase a guaranteed loser before the competition ever starts. There is nothing more heartbreaking than to see a child who has worked above and beyond to prepare his animal for fair only to be disqualified because you didn't do your homework on day 1. Now lastly, share this with anyone that needs to see it.
