FOOD NEEDED

We have been offered kitten food at a 75% discount. We need $300 for enough to last several months. Our adoption fee only covers vetting expenses, so the costs of raising kittens for 3 months is on us personally. Right now we have 46 kittens from newborn to adoption-ready, and we're receiving 5-10 calls daily asking us to take in kittens. We receive 1 call a week looking to adopt. IN MEMORY...
Three years ago today, 12-yr-old Shiloh said her final goodbye to her dad. She went to the dog park with her ESA, Brady, had pizza and picked up our first foster kittens. We will stay busy today and have an event this evening. Shiloh saw her therapist yesterday and is doing great. We believe maintaining a relationship with a child's trauma therapist long-term is extremely important after the loss of a parent.

We are planning a support group for children who have experienced the loss of a parent. And, yes, kittens will be involved!
There will not be any counseling, only children to interacting with others with the same experience and playing with a room full of kittens. We will start where we live in Searcy, but will branch out to other towns as interest grows.

The colorful litter brought in last night are eating well and slept comfortably in the incubator. The gray and white boy is not out of the woods, but his bonded sister stayed close to him through the night. It rained yesterday and hypothermia is brutal on newborns.

These little 3-4 day old babies were found without their mom and have been watched for over 24 hrs on a trail cam but with no sign of her, they wouldn't survive without help. Welcome to our nursery sweet little ones. Anya, our nursery mom, is ready for the challenge.

August 17, 2023, Vera gave birth under mom's bed. We're a little late with this post but we want to wish these babies a happy first birthday. Vera was rescued from the streets very very pregnant and was brought to us. We called them The Designer Litter and named them Dior, Versace, Aramis, and Armani. At two weeks old, a kitten of the same age (gray and white) was found alone in a bush. Vera took him in without question. He was named Oscar. The babies and Vera were all adopted except Armani. He has been passed over, but he has a forever home with us. We have kept Vera and all the babies connected in a group chat and have become friends. I will let everyone comment with current photos of our babies. Happy Birthday, my sweets!

We have amazing adopters. Mom got to visit Zimmer today. Zimmer was adopted last year after she was rescued from the streets pregnant and lost her litter of kittens. Thank you to all our adopters who keep us doing what we do.

Sometimes we get called into overcrowding situations to help with kittens and find older cats we just can't leave behind. Itty Bitty is 6 years old and has never been outside. She's been with us for a few months and we've honestly never had a more grateful, considerate and easy houseguest than she is. Her piercing green eyes are so dreamy and she is most often found sleeping in the sink. She is spayed and vaccinated. While she has managed to keep to herself sane in the nursery chaos, it is clear that Itty Bitty would prefer a quieter life in her senior years.

Her adoption fee would be waived to the right home. Please message if interested in giving this sweet girl the peaceful life she deserves.

Meet Crowley. He's 12 weeks old and is a favorite everywhere he goes. This little guy was found wandering all alone when he was just 4-5 weeks old. Crowley is a little bit of dynamite and a whole lot of sugar. He will stand up to any canine and then fall asleep making biscuits and suckling on your shirt. Crowley is being neutered this week and will be ready for adoption.

Chad saw something on Nana's TV today and he wants a home like that dog has. He would be ideal for an older person without small children. Chad is very laid back and is content just doing his own thing or sitting quietly with someone. He would prefer less chaos. Chad is neutered, FELV/FIV Negative with all vaccines. FOSTER NEEDED... This is a special request. Three months ago, we responded to a desperate young mom's plea for help. She and her two small children spent the winter in an apartment without heat. When the temps were below zero, she had no choice but to break her lease and move in with her dad. Fast forward to early spring and while she was at work, her dad crated the family's 3 female cats and dropped them on a family member's apartment step, which does not allow pets. Sarah Richardson of Community Cats of NLR offered to pay for spay + shots and we offered short-term foster to allow mom time to find a new place. Dad allowed her to choose one cat, and she is back with the family.

Five-year old Alexander hung on the crate sobbing good-bye to his beloved Galaxy while her paws cradled his face through the bars. Talk about gut-wrenching. As his grandmother pulled him away from the crate to leave, we made a promise to Alexander that we would do everything to find a foster to keep Galaxy safe until his mom could get on her feet and find their own place.

Galaxy and Peanut have been with us for three months and the overcrowded rescue scene is beginning to wear on them. The young mom stays in contact and is working, but the economy is brutal for single moms and dads. She is looking for housing while she works and raises two kids. It is uncertain how long it will take to find a place to live, and the mom understands we may need to rehome the two cats before she is settled, but we hope that one of our followers and friends will be touched by this story and offer safe sanctuary for these two girls as well as peace and hope for little Alexander and his sister. Both girls are spayed and vaccinated and have never been outside.

Just your weekly reminder to PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE spay and neuter your pets and to PLEEEEEAASE keep them indoors, ESPECIALLY if they are not spayed or neutered.

As with any brick and mortar building, shelters only have so much space to safely keep unhoused cats and for most shelters in our area, that space is completely full. Additionally, as much as most organizations would love to have infinite resources to take on every single case presented to us, there always comes a point where the resource well runs dry, personnel is overcommitted, and the ability to help is depleted.

PLEASE help all animal welfare organizations (and your local communities) by not contributing to the problem!

Orphaned At Birth

Crying kittens were heard under a house and the home owner crawled under it to find four newborn kittens lying beside their mother who died during birth. The kittens were brought to our nursery during a thunderstorm at just two days old, very hungry and weak, They were named Misty, Rainy, Sunny and Stormy.

The babies were bottle fed for a few days while we weaned a litter from their mama. Jack,Janet & Crissie gave up their places at the table for the four struggling orphans. It broke our hearts that Sunny didn't survive, but we knew it would be a challenge. So we focused on the three remaining kittens and got them healthy and happy. When they were weaned, their adoptive mom was spayed and now hangs out at the barn with her friends.

Misty, Rainy & Stormy are small because of their rocky start, but they are so sweet and cuddly, but most of all...healthy.

They have spay and neuter appointments soon but must first reach 3 lbs.
