June 1st is the start of National CPR and AED awareness week. While this is usually used for more of the human medicine side, did you know that there are first aid and CPR classes available for pets? taking a first aid and CPR class for pets is such a useful skill or all pet parents to have. Its also a great resume builder if you are a dog walker or pet sitter. There are online course that can be taken on your own time in less than an hour that will have you pet CPR and first aid certified.

The Red Cross has a short class that is 35 minutes long. https://www.redcross.org/take-a-class/classes/cat-and-dog-first-aid-online/a6R0V0000015EUf.html

The Recover Initiative also has an online course that takes about an hour to complete and has a certificate at the end. https://recoverinitiative.org/pet-owners-and-pet-professionals/cpr-course-for-pet-owners-and-pet-professionals/

Sailor wants to remind everyone to not take life so seriously sometimes and that is good to have fun! You’ll notice that many of the office dogs are sporting dyed fur regularly, we use dog safe dye to keep them safe and fun!

We typically use crazy liberty pet dye or o-paws

Dr. Amanda and Torri will be competing tomorrow at Westminster Kennel Club's Annual Agility Championship. Rachel lovingly touched up Torri's dye job this week. The story behind this is that someone very special to Dr. Amanda is coming up on her 8 year anniversary of being diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer. Without her help, Dr. Amanda would never have made it to competing at this level. So, Torri runs pink. And is adored by all the children who see her. And this reminder of how precious life is is why if you watch, you pretty much always see Dr. Amanda giving Torri a kiss before the start of every run. "Always kiss your dog"

April is Dog Fitness Month and if you know us, you know how important fitness and exercise is to us (and our dogs!). Over the course of this month, we will be showcasing some easy, at-home exercises to work on with your dogs to help them with their core strength and fitness ability.

Info found on the American Kennel Club website that will be linked below, can be a great place to start to learn about dog fitness and they have a few no-to-low equipment exercises.

Just like us, dogs can benefit from a stretching and strengthening program. It can provide dogs with both a physical and mental workout.
