🎆 Happy Independence Day! 🎆

Hey SPAR Community! Let's celebrate the 4th of July with some fun facts about our nation's history:

🎆 Did you know? The Declaration of Independence was actually approved on July 2nd, 1776, but we celebrate on the 4th because that's when the final wording was adopted!

🧨 Boom! Fireworks have been a part of Independence Day celebrations since the very first one in 1777. They were used to symbolize the “rockets' red glare” and “bombs bursting in air” from the national anthem.

🎉 Star-Spangled Banner: Our flag has changed over the years. The first flag had 13 stars and 13 stripes for the original colonies. Today, it has 50 stars for each state and 13 stripes to honor the colonies.

🇱🇷 Red, White, and Blue: The colors of our flag have special meanings. Red stands for valor and bravery, white for purity and innocence, and blue for vigilance, perseverance, and justice.

🎇 Liberty Bell: The Liberty Bell in Philadelphia is an iconic symbol of American independence. It was rung on July 8, 1776, to mark the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence.

The City of Shreveport is currently under an excessive heat advisory. It's crucial to stay cool and hydrated during these extreme temperatures! 🥵

Looking for ways to beat the heat? SPAR has got you covered with several pools and spray grounds! 💦 Dive in and cool off at a location near you. That's exactly what some of our Lakeside Summer Campers have been doing! Thanks to Rock Solid they are learning the basics of water safety while having a good time! This week, our campers at Lakeside Recreation Center had an amazing time hitting the golf course and diving into the wonderful world of golf. 🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️

Golf isn't just a game—it's a lifelong skill that offers so many benefits for our young players:
Physical Fitness: Walking the course, swinging the clubs, and spending time outdoors keep our campers active and healthy.

🇱🇷 Happy Flag Day! 🇱🇷

Today, we celebrate the birthday of the American flag! 🎉 Did you know the U.S. flag has some awesome facts? Check these out:

1️⃣ The Flag Has a Nickname: It's called "Old Glory." A sea captain named William Driver gave it this nickname in 1831, and it stuck!

2️⃣ Stars and Stripes: The flag has 50 stars, one for each state, and 13 stripes for the original 13 colonies. Red symbolizes valor and bravery, white stands for purity and innocence, and blue represents vigilance, perseverance, and justice.

3️⃣ Betsy Ross: According to legend, Betsy Ross sewed the first American flag in 1776. She changed the original star design from six-pointed to five-pointed because it was easier to make!

4️⃣ Flag Code: There's a special set of rules called the U.S. Flag Code, which tells us how to properly display and care for the flag. For example, it should never touch the ground and should be illuminated if flown at night.

5️⃣ Flag on the Moon: The U.S. flag was planted on the moon by astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in 1969 during the Apollo 11 mission. Talk about out of this world! 🌕

According to weather predictions, the Red River is going to rise this Saturday, March 21 and cause flooding along the river. As a precaution, the Dog Park and Hamel’s Park will be closed on Saturday night and remain locked until further notice.
