Our commitment to our animals is emotionally exhausting sometimes. We have been up, down, and all around with this perfectly imperfect boy, Belmonte.

He arrived to rescue in very sad shape. His form was best described as "backwards". A product of poor breeding his back legs are shocking to look at. Many shed tears watching him. He does his best to keep up and not let it slow him down.

When he first arrived we thought we could fix him and fix him right away, then found out his surgery was too extensive and risky to put him through so thought euthanasia may be necessary (and we were CRUSHED). However, he just had a long awaited consult with another surgeon and were pleasantly surprised that we think we CAN indeed save him and give him a good quality of life. We just need to raise $6000.

Can you help us to help Belmonte?! To further complicate his situation he is hoping for a new foster family that can see him through his surgery.

This feels like such a long shot on all fronts. Please help us to help him. This goofy little fella deserves it. While we are exhausted emotionally being on his journey, we absolutely know he is worth it. We are so happy for some light shed on his future 🌞

Hello there! I'm Beets, a puppy with a heart full of love. I'm a bundle of energy, always ready to play and explore. I'm curious about everything, and I love making new friends. I'm also quite the sweetheart, always eager to give and receive affection.

I just moved into my foster home and my foster mom has me in summer school. She said I have to work on leash training, crate training and potty training. So, me and my partner in crime, Rutabaga, are learning lots right now.

I love being around people and I'm friendly to everyone I meet. I'm full of potential and I can't wait to find a family who will help me grow into the best dog I can be. Every day we receive dozens and dozens of requests from shelters and other organizations that are bursting at the seems with strays and high foster needs. The relief that rescues can provide for local shelters often times provide enough space for them to keep being a local resource but also stay no kill.

Check out this adorable update on how Kamie the Bichon is doing in her foster homer!

"Sweet only scratches the surface when it comes to describing Kamie. She came to her foster family feeling very nervous about humans but over time she has warmed up to them and now loves cuddling up next to them on the couch.

She does well in her crate when her foster family needs to leave the house and at night. She keeps her crate clean and doesn’t make a peep.

She is house trained and she loves spending time outside in the fenced in backyard. She is gaining confidence with neighborhood walks on a leash.

One of her favorite things about her foster family is her fur sister. She loves to cuddle with her, and she would do very well with another dog that is a similar size.

She gets nervous with a lot of activity in the house, so a calm forever home would be ideal. Kamie is a real gem and she hopes to find her forever home soon!"

Hello, my name is Rhinestone. I am a proper lady with a mature personality. my foster family calls me “Little Mamma” since I am a petite lady. I am 7 years old and am looking for my forever home. Here are some things to know about me:

• I get along with my two foster fur siblings. They are teaching me to enjoy life and play. I love being around them but would be fine being the only dog.

• I am a quiet gal in a kennel until you decide to leave me behind. I get a bit upset but I eventually realize you will be back soon and so I settle down after a while.

• I love going for walks and get curious when I see another dog. I sometimes will stop suddenly if I get spooked but otherwise I love a leisure stroll.

• I have a crooked smile due to a broken jaw. But I am a fighter and have dealt with this for a long time. Don’t worry, I am a happy lady who loves eating canned food. I deserve it since I don’t have many teeth. My foster family thinks my crooked smile is the cutest thing ever!

• I do very well around children but can get spooked easily by their sudden movements. I would probably do best with older calm kids.

• Socks! Watch out, I tend to steal and play with lonesome socks. But don’t worry, I am not destructive by any means.

• I am doing better about being house trained. I still have accidents but they are rare. They typically occur when I get really nervous. My foster mom always knows when I need to go cause I pace and walk around nervously. I otherwise go outside on grass.

Overall, I am very good pup with lots of love to give. I can’t wait to find my forever home to show much love and gratitude to my new family!

The love and support our sweet Richard has gotten over the last several weeks has been nothing short of amazing.

Richard continues to be an example of the advocacy against the breeding of dwarf miniature horses. The medical issues and risk of injury FAR x399343 outweigh any cute factor or benefit to breeding horses this small.

Foster and support needed!

Jordi was battling for her life a couple of weeks ago. She almost died of parvo virus. She needed help in a rural area and we said YES we will try to help you! We took a leap of faith, despite having medical expenses adding up left and right. We are so happy to report that she SURVIVED! She pulled through and was able to come home last night. Sadly though, she did not find a foster family yet.

We are so happy we were able to save her but 1) we only raised approx. $200 of the $3000 we needed to and 2)we did not find an interested foster family.

If you can help with support or fostering we would be immensely grateful! We know Jordi is worth it...but we need help with both right now. Please spread the word!

Fosters needed :(

When it rains it pours...there are just too many dogs needing help right now. Puppies should not be sad and depressed. These puppies are breaking our hearts...they are in desperate need of fosters to help them. They have a ride to us on 7/26 IF they can find a committed and approved foster family in time. We are busting at the seams and hoping we can find a foster willing to welcome them. They are at an overcrowded shelter and desperate for help.

Urgent fosters needed!

These 5 puppies are desperate for foster families! They are 7 weeks old and approx.. 7lbs each. They were a litter of 9 that needed help, and these 5 have not had any interest. They do not all have to stay together- small groups is ideal if possible (2 and 3).

Forever family pick me, please!

My name is Ireland and I have been learning all about family life since I arrived to rescue from the Out of the Cold Rescue effort. At first, I was a bundle of nerves that came out in a burst of crazy energy, but thank goodness my foster mom was patient and understood I just needed some time. You see, I've never really had a home until Coco's Heart saved me, and I didn't quite understand what it was like to live in a house with people. But that's all behind me now, and I am pretty much the perfect dog....a bit of a couch potato, but hey, a girl needs to put her paws up and relax sometimes.

I am fully potty trained and have never had an accident in the house. I play very gently with new dogs that come to my home. I do benefit from slow introductions, but once I learn that the other dogs are friendly, I'm a gentle teddy bear. When strangers come to my house, I bark to warn everybody, but I make friends pretty much immediately after I introduce myself. I eat my kibble in my crate and have shown absolutely no resource guarding (even when a certain greedy little dog gets away from foster mom and finds herself in my dish.) Mom says I'm so patient and gentle.

I'm still working on my manners on a leash. My foster mom uses a slip lead and I've learned a lot (and so has she). I'm doing pretty good, but still need some reminders that I'm not supposed to pull. I also tend to get a bit excited and jump, mom uses the word "down" and turns her back on me. Usually I calm down and sit still to wait for pets when this happens. I am friendly and patient with kids and adults. The only concern mom has with me around little kids is if I jump and knock them over. She knows I would never hurt anyone on purpose.

If a goofy, sweet and loving dog is what you are looking for....I'm your girl!

“It doesn’t take a huge effort to turn a bbq or potluck or group bike ride into a fundraiser!!!” - Walrack Family ✨

What an incredible family, Tiffany came by to meet Richard and deliver this incredible donation from their fourth of July party! While talking, we learned about her father’s heart of gold, her childhood and the “misfit” farm animals she grew up with; a 3 legged goat, the blind donkey and all the other animals her family helped give a home when they had no where to go, no one to love them… her family did. Richard’s story touched home, he’s quite a “misfit” himself but he has found where he belongs and he brings happiness into our lives every day. Richard is so special & loved! Richard story is full of determination and defying odds, showing the world just how strong he can be - he’s mini, but mighty!

Urgent Supplies Needed for pregnant mommas! 🚨

Momma Asia found herself very pregnant on a euthanasia list 💔 her euthanasia date was fast approaching and time was running out… thankfully an amazing foster family said she could help give Asia a loving foster home to have her babies and raise them until ready to find forever families! A true angel! There are many other mommas hoping to come to rescue THIS weekend… we really need critical supplies and foster families!

We urgently need whelping boxes (5), hoping to raise $500 to cover the cost of those boxes. Whelping boxes provide a safe space for mommas to deliver and the puppy to grow and thrive. We also urgently need puppy formula & washable puppy pads if you can donate any of the above they will be put to good use!

Hol & Oats are a bonded pair of 7 month old guinea pigs who were surrendered to rescue recently. They are working on their social cues like being handled routinely, etc but are doing really well together and are full of squeaks!

Are you on Instagram? So is Richard!

He had a friend stop by this morning since it's Friend's Friday... of course.... Daisy the golden brought our little guy up to speed on everything he missed while he was at the hospital.

Daisy is one of the very few animals who is not a risk to Richard. He is still considered fragile and recovering from his surgeries so it is important he is kept safe. Daisy is very safe for him and he was such a good host while she visited. She did all the talking, he ate... very typical Richard. He L O V E S to eat, snack, and eat again!

Check out an update on how Mateo, the super handsome lab boy is doing his foster home!

"Mateo is such a sweet dog. We call him Teo. Teo had a very harsh start in his life. He was a surrender from North Dakota. Mateo has been with us for three weeks and has settled into our home. We’ve had many large gatherings, including kids and other dogs, and he has done fantastic. Mateo will be an excellent dog for anyone who loves snuggles, likes to walk, and has a dog he can play with. He plays amazingly with our resident dog. He plays hard; when he’s done, he rests on his blanket. Mateo is a busy dog who loves to chew toys, and they keep him busy.

Mateo is house-trained and rings the bell when he needs to go potty. He’s crate-trained and will sleep in the crate in our room through the night.

Now that Mateo is on an eating schedule, he does less counter-surfing. He realizes that he will be fed on a schedule. He has slowed down when he eats.

Mateo knows to sit, and we’re working on staying. He’s getting there. We are also working on no and dropping it, and he’s progressing.

Mateo has such a sweet personality and is genuinely so loving. He wants to please his humans. He would be an excellent addition to any family willing to help him grow."
