Pony Popsicles for hot days!!
Why would you want to start your day any other way?? #farm #farmlife #morningroutine
It's hay day! 750 pounds of hay unloaded and stacked!
The chicken crew in action! No such thing as being alone on the farm with a free ranging flock! #chickensrunwild #chickens #farm
I just love watching them come in!
Most mornings they are waiting for me in the barn for their breakfast of grain + supplements, but some mornings they are way in the back pasture and have to be whistled in. Thankfully they are very food motivated and know what the "breakfast whistle" means and come running!
I'm always amazed that they can run up these hills, they are steeper than they look and I'm out of breath after walking halfway up π€£ clearly the horses are in better shape than me! Even Maggie, our 30+ year old resident horse can haul butt up these hills!
Exploring the flat plains on the property! It's so fun to watch them play π¦π
The morning race to breakfast!
This is how Reggie greets me every morning on the farm!
Charm loves bobbing for apples! π
Our own apples are getting closer to being ripe every day, I can't wait!
Yummy yummy apple π π
Splash πSplash πSplash π
Ollie taking a dip in the pool!
Prepping for this heat wave- the Juliet way!
I will be carefully monitoring all our animals over the next few days. I have a lot of tricks I wanted to share for other animal owners!
π Frozen water bottles for rabbits to snuggle
πFans up and out of reach of curious animals. I favor enclosed motor fans and check them daily for dust collection.
π Frozen ice in all waters, with waters in the shade if possible and filled multiple times a day with fresh cool water.
π Pools for ducks, even the turkeys and chickens will wade in it on a hot day.
πAll animals have access to shade all day.
πTake fly sheets off if possible on triple digit days. Use fly spray if needed. Its just too hot and they get sweaty underneath
πLastly- give the pig some mud!
Check your animals every few hours, but stay inside when you can, especially those of us who rarely experience this kind of heat.
Stay safe! Stay cool!
