🐾 Meet Goose, our golden retriever with a pawsitively infected paw! 🦴 After a rough day of limping around, Goose got a special treat—his very own “pawdicure”! 💅 We soaked his foot to help heal the infection and, let’s just say, he was thrilled about his new spa day. He was able to go home on some medications. Here’s hoping his paws are as happy as he is to be back to his playful self soon! 🐕💦
Meet Frankie, the cutest little troublemaker of the day! 🐶 She was on her best behavior all day, but couldn't resist a sneaky snack of onions. Fortunately, we were able to help her out by getting those sneaky onions back out and giving her an anti-nausea injection. She's home now, hopefully sticking to her kibble and giving the onions a miss! 🌟🥳 "

Is it okay to let my cat out for the evening? At UrgentVet, we say no, and here’s why:
• Disappearance – Cats can go missing.
• Hit by a car – Night driving makes it harder to see cats.
• Predators – Many animals come out at night, and your cat could become prey.
• Illness & disease – Cats can come into contact with sick animals.
• Toxic ingestion – Outdoor cats may encounter poison or other animals that have ingested poison.
• Animal cruelty – Roaming cats may fall victim to abuse.

With the heat still in full swing, remember that our furry friends feel it too! Walking your dog in hot weather can lead to heatstroke and other injuries. Here's why: Concrete and asphalt retain heat, making it much hotter for your pet, and these surfaces can burn their paw pads. When it’s above 80-85 degrees, it’s best to walk your dog in the early morning or at dusk. If that’s not possible, keep walks short and stay on the grass. Always provide plenty of water and watch for signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and confusion. If you notice any of these, bring your pet to us right away.

It is my absolute pleasure to introduce you to Chase! He is here to demonstrate what a fear free feline experience is like at UVSJ, when we did a cytology and found cocci in her ears, a bacterial infection, we were able to send home some medication as well as do an ear cleaning! Instead of taking Chase out of his comfortable carrier with all the blankets, team members Madison and Halee let him sit back and relax while his ears got cleaned.
