The kits born late July are opening their eyes! 💕

Summer kits always feel magical to me, somehow. The farm is blistering hot and all the other animals are lethargic and the grass is crispy and dying and everything and everyone seems to be stuck in this everlasting pause waiting for cooler weather so life can resume...and over under the shade trees, the TAMU-Ks are just popping out babies like nobody's business! 🤣 It's like the rabbits are the only thing actually living in the summertime. The grass is dying, the animals are hiding from the sun...and I'm certainly not leaving the house unless absolutely necessary. 😬😆🥵 TAMU-KS are amazing!!!!!!

My first Black Japanese Harlequin with white paws! 🥺💕I just love white paws...and I've got quite a lot of them on other colors, but not many white paws on the Harlequins! It's also one of the biggest and chunkiest in the litter...if it's a doe, I might end up keeping it! ❤

One of my TAMU-K Composite does!! This beauty's name is Guinevere (RoseOakRanch lines), and she is my first Harlequinized Chinchilla! I can't wait to see what colors her kits are!! Her first litter is due in a few weeks!

Edit: I have decided to name her Winnie, which means "gentle friend". I think it suits her personality perfectly!!!

Help me name a bunny, y'all!!! 😄

I selected several rabbits for breeders recently, and I've been having an amazing time naming them...if you know me, you know I loooooooove naming things!!!

So far the future breeders I have named are Monty, Harvey (Harv for short and Haaaaaaarv for long), Margo, and Kiki!

This last doe, though...I can't think of a name for her. She's so pretty; I love her face! Such a beautiful Chocolate Magpie Harlequin! Just the sweetest little thing, too--she comes up to me and licks my hands while I'm petting the rabbits in her cage. Not for the salt, either..she's just really affectionate! She needs a perfect name, and so far I haven't come up with anything sufficiently wonderful.

Any ideas??????

Meet sweet Stumpy! As a day old kit, one of Stumpy's front paws was badly cut. The paw dried up and fell off, leaving a little stump, hence the name. Despite only having 3 paws, Stumpy is such an active little chonker...one of the biggest and sweetest of the litter! Not exactly rabbits...but they live on rabbit poop, so close enough, right?!? These are Black Soldier Fly larvae! Adult Black Soldier Flies look a bit like a black wasp. (But they don't bite.) The larvae is an easy to grow (just introduce them to good conditions on your farm), super nutritious food for animals...40% protein, 10% fat. The chickens LOVE them! This video is taken under my rabbit cages. It is damp under the hay...not wet, so I don't get maggots. The larvae eat the rabbit poop, spilled pellets and hay, and turn it into even better fertilizer than before! Then they grow up and lay more eggs and the cycle continues! All I have to do is go out there and scoop up some larvae for the chickens. They are very clean and harmless, so I don't mind picking them up with my hands.
