As you may know, we lost our beloved Dr. Rix this past week. He was such an amazing man and mentor for us all. Our Sakonnet family is heartbroken and we send our deepest sympathies to his family.

Sakonnet Veterinary Hospital will be closed Friday 2.18.2022 to attend his services.

Hope everyone has minimal clean up, keep a lookout for fallen babies and injured wildlife. You can always call us for further assistance. 💜

🌬 Storm Alert! Please safely keep your eye out for injured and orphaned animals this weekend as Hurricane Henri comes through our area. We are especially anticipating baby squirrels and young birds being blown from trees, rabbit nests getting flooded, and sea birds being blown in and “grounded” with the storm. If you have any concerns about wildlife please call the Wildlife Clinic at 401-294-6363, if it is after hours there are phone numbers on our voicemail of rehabbers that are able to assist when the clinic is closed. The best thing to do if you find an animal that needs help, and are unable to get it immediately to a rehabber, is to keep is contained in a dark, warm, and quiet box!

We recently received a massive, 30,000+ lb donation (26 pallets!) of dog & cat food, kitty litter and so many other pet supplies from Chewy made possible in part by The Humane Society of the United States.

We are sharing the love with the community pet food pantries at fellow shelters including Providence Animal Rescue League and Animal Rescue Rhode Island and more.

In order to make the most of this donation and touch as many animal lives as we can, we are holding a Community Pet Food & Supplies Distribution Day! This Sunday, July 11 from 12 until 4pm or until supplies run out, stop by our Animal Care & Adoption Center at 87 Oliphant Lane in Middletown, RI!

No appointments necessary. We are trying to make sure the largest impact possible with this donation, so please share this with a pet owner in your life who could benefit from saving a little money this month.

We encourage anyone to come out this Sunday.
