Cookie found a loving home! A sweet girl was surprised Friday with a stop to pick up her new pet.

It was pretty cool seeing how much this new baby meant to her since she recently lost her bun, Oreo. And the name will stay the same!

We have a section of yard that doesn’t get used for playing very often so we’ve decided to make it work for us instead!

Planting rows of blueberries, blackberries and grapes! Bonus, it’ll make a little block from our neighbors eventually.

We only have 1.5 acres but I’ve decided we should utilize it any way we can to provide food for us. Now, I just have to be patient and wait for everything to grow.

Some bunny decided they needed to eat our carrots more than we did. 🐰 🥕

This was my second time planting carrots. I planted in three separate places and one flower pot in hopes I’d finally get something to come up right!

The flower pot was a waste of effort—they never grew big. My mounds of dirt were doing decent until an animal came along and ate the tops off. So we decide to go ahead and dig them all up in two of three locations. I washed everything and froze them in a stir fry mix since most were pretty small!

I have one more set planted in a different garden and it’s so full of weeds the animal hasn’t found them yet! So see, my weeds are finally being beneficial. 😏

Our garden is about done.

It’s a bit over grown with crab grass and ragweed at this point 🤷🏼‍♀️ but we salvaged these yellow flesh melons that Emmi planted from seed. The fruit stopped growing and the vines died during the heat wave so we decided to cut them open.

They were a bit overripe and small but decent. We saved the seeds to see what we get from them next season!

And of course the scraps went to some happy chickens!

I did have three that didn’t seem to seal right so trying to figure out my next step on those!

I had an abundance of cherry and plum tomatoes! Notes for next year—don’t plant 20 maybe just 5. 😏

So instead of trying to peel the skins I decided to roast them in the oven for my canned spaghetti sauce! I also roasted the garlic to give my sauce a richer flavor. I processed in my fancy $$ blender to help break down the skins and seeds.

Justin said he likes it more then Prego so I’ll take that as a win. Now if I can just truck the kids, too!

A friend gifted me some Egyptian Walking Onions!

I’ve never planted them but so far they are thriving and gave me some babies to harvest for the next planting!

IF you have the time/patience…refrigerate or freeze your cookie dough!

Pop those portions in the fridge for an hour or so to let your dough rest and the flavors to mix. You’ll have a less crumbly cookie!

I always freeze my dough and pull out when I need it! That way we always have cookie dough ready to bake for an easy dessert. You can let it thaw or bake from frozen!

Processed some zucchini!

Chopped small for soups and omelets. Sliced for sauté or baked. Spirals noodle for spaghetti noodles. Thin slices for veggie lasagna. The big chunks were shredded for breads and cookies.

I planted some potatoes scraps for the first time this year!

I had three plants come up and got these cuties. The little yellow potatoes are volunteers from our compost pile.

I’m going to plant some more next month for a fall crop when I have space in the garden.
