Sir Maverick meeting some new friends
We don't always have the opportunity to go to location to get babies from trees, and we don't always have the opportunity to be able to pick up animals in need. Why? Well- I am 1 person , I have 3 special needs/handicap kiddos, I have dozens of baby mouths to feed, many cages to maintain, and we have people dropping off surrenders and animals in need all hours of the day. This is why we ask you to bring them to us vs waiting on us to have the availability to do so. We appreciate you all.
Last night we got a message about babies up in a tree and they have been crying for the day if not the day before too- my Son happened to be willing to be our monkey for the evening and climb said tree to save 2 screaming hungry babies. The people that reached out sent us a video
Delilah won't let the head wobble slow her down for food or treats.
Delilah and her feisty self-
Someone is growing into her dome-
She believes she is supposed to be vicious- always growling, always biting, but absolutely the sweetest.
Still doesn't have head control and probably never will , her left side which is where everything isn't right -her legs don't cooperate with her as you can see in video - this too is probably permanent- we will know more at next vet appt . But she is almost 4 lbs now and doing as well as she can
Someone is doing well enough she found her growler and her barker..... miss Delilah is now over 3 lbs and making improvements.
She is so proud of her milk mustache
Miss Delilah has decided she is a big girl now. She refused the bottle all day today and wanted her milk , wet and dry dog food in dishes and she was determined that's how she is doing it.
She has been fighting with blankets and stuffies for a few days now- she has discovered that if she fights long enough she is able to tuck her self in and cover herself up and don't need my help. She is a big girl.
Delilah update;
Day 9- so we made it past the critical stages, and now almost done with the 14 day period the vet said would be her major hump in this.
She still doesn't have great head control, still very wobbly, still very unsteady however she is determined to recoup and keep living. This lil fighter is now eating wet and dry puppy food along with still getting the bottle in-between. She has only put on 5oz in the last 9 days so still under 2 lbs. Here is a video from tonight. She gets another deworming dose on Monday and then we schedule the next vet appt.
Here you will see her standing and eating- today is the first I have taken the leaning support away while she eats and she is doing amazing.
Delilah update:
She has gained a total of 4 Oz., her eye is open but still cloudy, in the video here you will see she has involuntary head jerking even when she eats. She has them all the time but this was why it was and still is so hard for her to nurse or eat. As much as she trys the head does its own thing. We have to hold her head and muzzle still for her to eat and usually against us and we have to be very patient while she tries to fill her belly. We have tried wet puppy food as well as dry kibble and those too are a struggle bc her head doesn't cooperate with her so she falls over and into the food.
She is more active and wants to play often so we will try building those muscles and gaining some control. She is past the critical stage I think but still very weak needs nutrition and therapy to help her. We will schedule another vet appt after her next deworming dose and get his thoughts.
Lil Delilah gets to play in big girl playpen for a bit
