Yesterday was a great day of adoptions!! 14 animals were adopted!! Thanks to our adopters, and of course—our foster volunteers! So many of our fancy mice went to a nice home yesterday. Happy tails everyone ❤️

We got a few reptile intakes today. 3 crested geckos and a Burmese star tortoise(critically endangered tortoise species). The tortoise is about a year old and will be an ambassador. Crested geckos include a mom and 2 kiddos who are separated into their own quarantine tubs.

Hello everyone, I'd like to give a brief update on a few things that has happened in the last few months. Here at Ratical Rodent Rescue, we love all animals and have found that the Reptiles, like Rodents are needing some saving. Therefore, the rescue has evolved into a reptile rescue as well.
My name is Ryan and my wife's name is Samantha and we are assisting under the reptile side.
We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a dual combo rescue, and we are looking forward to working with the community more as we have gotten a few more intakes.

Are you mouse curious? We have some adorable domestic mice for adoption, who are being fostered in Gilroy. They have beautiful colors, and kind of remind me a cross between a rat and a hamster. They make great pets!!

Are you looking for the perfect pet with kids? We’ve got three of them for you! These three senior piggies are adorable and super friendly❤️. Here is what foster mom says about them: The three guinea pigs we are fostering are so social! They are very friendly and two even come up to us for pets. They are some of the most well adjusted piggies we have fostered. They would be great companions! Wesley(8 yrs), Milo(4yrs) and Tulip (3 yrs, spayed female) .

Foster mama writes: I have two neutered males that are about 1-5 two called Ash (grey) and Spark (black): Spark has wavy/curly fur. Ash is a hoodie. Ash is soooooo chill and the softest rat I’ve ever pet. Ash is a trouble maker and has an amazing personality ❤️

Ever wonder what it’s like to adopt a rescue rodent? This is the life of me and my Pnut. I met lil P when I started volunteering at Ratical Rodent Rescue. She was one of 4 dwarf hammies looking for a home. I took her home as a foster, but knew all too well she was mine to keep. I had never had a dwarf hamster before, having had Syrians only. And honestly, I didn’t think I would get attached to her. I was really wrong about that! She was a spunky gal. And I got used to having her around and saying good morning to her. A tiny spitfire of a ham! I loved her for two years, and she just passed away. Super sad about it, but I have so many fond memories and pics of her. Wouldn’t trade it for the world❤️Her name was Peanut, which became Pnut, but also called Queen P, and lately Pepita (because she loved pumpkin seeds). She also loved lettuce, especially arugula. And she was spoiled with a buffet every night. Thanks for reading.

These girls recently came into the rescue from an animal shelter that was at capacity! They'll need a while to decompress in their new foster but if you're looking to adopt we are now full! Any help finding homes for guinea pigs would be so appreciated and we would love to see these little guys in a forever home soon!

🚨🐹 We received an urgent request to help with 8 baby guinea pigs from a shelter in Oakland, and we sprang into action! 💨🏡 While we were able to create overflow housing for 6 of them, we desperately need fosters or adopters to help us give these adorable babies the care and attention they deserve.

If you can open your home and heart to foster or adopt, please reach out to us ASAP. Together, we can give these little ones the loving start they need! 💕

They're currently being fostered in Gilroy but transportation around the Bay Area may be a possibility!

Sakura, is very out going and comes out during the day and night if she hears someone! She loves treats and will expect lots of treats in her new home. She is very food motivated. She can be territorial and she loves her own space unless you have treats…she can be bribed!

This sweet girl, now known as. Lady Godiva, was found abandoned and waundered into someones house her cage found in a recycling pile outside when the people moved out. Thankfully a good citizen rescued her and got in touch, so Lady Godiva went from living in a habitrail. to outside, and then into a beautiful NiteAngel cage with us. donated by a supporter. Your support helps us care for these animals. We are grateful and so are they!!!!just look how happy Lady Godiva is!

Bad news! We know we said we'd be at Waggin Tail's this Saturday, rain or shine. But it looks like it's going to be raining cats and dogs, so we have to postpone! We’ve been treating Daphne for a URI for about 10 days, today she took a turn for the worst and we’ve decided to put her down… We love you sweet girl and you will be so missed🖤.. We believe it is important to share things like this… rescue can be so heartbreaking… we get so many animals in and we see many of them go down hill fast… the mental and emotional toll this takes on us can be so detrimental to our health. Unfortunately this is the 2nd rat this week that has passed … the other in my arms. When we turn away animals it is soul crushing… when we get yelled at for “not doing our job” or called names for not taking in animals… it is soul crushing. Please be mindful of this when you reach out to rescues and shelters… sometimes we are not okay. #rescue #rescueworkers #volunteers #rescueanimals #rats #ratsofinstagram #ratslove #adopt
