🆘 We are still incredibly full and would love to see some of these good girls and boys goto their forever homes this week.

At 12, Harley lost his owner. He finds himself in a foster home with other dogs that he gets along with but cannot stay forever. He is ready to cuddle and love someone and start a new chapter

Quartz has a unique color pattern for sure. He has the personality to match, with energy to keep up with his sister Hematite, or other kittens. This guy can entertain for hours.

"Its not a milk mustache, its my fur." Hematite has a very unique color pattern, and you wont get her mixed up with any other "cow kitty". Her and her brother Quartz are kid friendly and playful.

Shawnee is a 3yr old tabby who enjoys napping in windows and high up places. She is also known to find a hide hole and watch all that goes on in the free roam room. This lady would love a home and to take naps on her best friend's bed. She is fine with kids as long as they aren't super loud.

Alder is a very sweet 5 yr old ginger. His eyes are fine, just looks a little different. He is unique, and loves attention. This guy has been making new friends in the free roam room.

🍀 Yesterday was a busy day at the shelter. Right after our microchip clinic, we welcomed a group of 4-Hers in for a tour.

The kids got to see how the shelter works, learn about the care we provide to not just healthy animals, but sick and neglected animals that come to us, and meet some adoptable pets. The group provided us with a donation of supplies. Thank you for your generous donations!

🎉 Our special needs kitty Cadbury left yesterday on a big trip to his new home in Colorado. Wonderful volunteers created a travel train to get him to his adopter today.

Cadbury had been with us for over 2 years and has cerebellar hypoplasia, which his new mom is familiar with since her kitty had it too. It’s a perfect match!

Before Cadbury left, we rolled out the red carpet and gave him a special treat. Have the best life, Cadbury! 🥰

Yesterday we did our first in-house microchip clinic and it went fantastic 😻.

Around community 30 pets are now microchipped, and in the event they ever become lost, they will easily be able to make their way right back home.

Thank you to Animal Clinic of Van Wert for providing us the chips at a discount. Thank you to all those who showed up to the clinic. Space was limited for this event, but we will have another in the near future!

Tilda is the sweetest lady, she was surrendered because she was getting into fights with the other female dog in the house. This 3yr old is good with kids, and just wants to be in a home. Tilda is fixed, up to date on shots, ready to snuggle. Can you make her part of your life, and throw the ball for her a few times a day?

Jasper is a world champion ball getter. He is ranked 1st in the GSD/husky 2yr old division. Hes ready to hang out with other dogs and kids. He needs a fence or sturdy tie out. No underground fence is gonna hold him back, also it is a big no on cats and farm animals.

Warhol is an American artist...wait, not this Warhol. This guy is a cattledog mix who is about 1 and enjoys a good game of fetch, a friend to play with and a soft place to curl up at the end of a day. Good with kids and dogs.

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to our community for coming together and supporting the 7 abused dogs we took in this week. We received very generous donations both online and at the shelter, including an anonymous donor who brought in a large cash donation and another donor who brought in very generous sum. This money will not only help these pups, but so many more in our community. As a non-profit that relies on community donations as our main source, we are truly touched by the way the Van Wert area has rallied ❤️

🐾 An update on the dogs:

They have been to the vet and and will need time to heal. But despite what they’ve been through, they are very sweet souls. Originally we thought they were puppies, but the vet belives they are between 2-5 years old with two of the dogs being on the older end of that age group. This means that they will be on the smaller side, even after filling out. Emaciated dogs take time and patience to heal both physically and emotionally. If you are interested in fostering, please stop by the shelter and inquire.

Many people have asked—the former owner has been charged with 7 counts of animal cruelty and the investigation continues. Thank you to our law enforcement and our community for seeking justice.

Nola came to us because her owner found themselves homeless. Giving up your dog is hard, and being a dog and not understanding why you are at a shelter is harder. This 3 yr old ret/boxer (and maybe some dane mix) is sweet and a little shy. She will make a great addition, but it will take a little patience and time to expose her to all the good things life has to offer. A little challenge for alot of rewards, whos game?

🆘 After unexpectedly taking in 7 dogs and another litter of kittens yesterday, we are extremely FULL.

Two businesses in our community have stepped up to help sponsor half the adoption fee for the next 8 dogs and 8 cats to be adopted. That means the dog adoption fee will be $87.50 and the cat adoption fee will be $50.

This is the perfect time to stop in and meet your new summer vacation best friend. Imagine the trips you can go on together 🤩

‼️ We were already bursting at the seams with cats and dogs, and then we received these 7 poor souls today.

You’re looking at 5 pups under a year old and 2 around two years old that were left jammed in two crates and abandoned when their owners moved out. Thankfully, the neighbors heard them and called the warden before it was too late.

They are filthy, malnourished, and have been eating themselves and each other alive. Their tails and toes have been chewed on and will need medical attention. Our staff has been working to bathe the smell and stains from their fur. They will require slow feedings as to not shock their little bodies. Some of them are very scared and others, despite what they’ve been through, are extremely happy to see people.

If you are able, we would be very grateful for donations to help with the extra care and medical attention they will require. They need all our support. We can’t do what we do without you ♥️

Orion wants to remind everyone that it's gonna be hot this week. Please make sure your animals have plenty of water, a cool place to be, and they stay secured on your property. This heat can exhaust them in a matter of minutes, pavement can burn their feet.
