The West Haven Animal Shelter is part of the West Haven Police Department's Animal Control Division in CT. next door to the West Haven Public Works Garage.

The West Haven Animal Shelter is conveniently located at 7 Collis St. The West Haven Animal Control Divison Officers are given the responsibility of enforcing all local and state laws pertaining to the welfare, control, and safe handling of animals. Through this responsibility the Animal Control Division investigates animal related complaints including nuisance calls, abandoned animals, sick or in

jured animals, and animals in unfavorable living conditions. The Animal Control Division also cares for animals who are waiting to be adopted. The Animal Control Division is supervised by Sgt. Mark Gado. This unit is staffed by Animal Control Officer's Nikki Stancarone, Lorna Hallett, Morgan Ruggiero, and Shannon Rose.

**FOUND KITTEN**

FROM FINDER:

“This is the kitten that my granddaughter and I found on Elm Street between the Fire Department and Stop & Shop entrance. He was running from the curb into the street and back into the tall grass again. We stopped the car and he ran right to my granddaughter.”

He does not have a microchip, collar or tags. If this is your kitten or you may know who it belongs to, please reach out to Sharyn Couch Allen on Facebook. This kitten is currently with the finder, NOT at West Haven Animal Control.

West Haven Animal Shelter would like to thank Councilwoman Meli Garthwait & Councilman Steve Johnstone for putting together such a wonderful event and making sure our furry friends here have plenty of food! It is a tremendous help at this time due to our shelter being full. We appreciate both of them, along with the community for their generosity as it will provide plenty of supplies for many animals residing at the shelter while they await their forever homes!

We have some exciting news to share!
Drum roll 🥁……….

Our Scooby is adopted!!!!!!!!!

Scoobs found himself a wonderful family who is active and will give him all the exercise and love he needs. We are elated by this news, as this boy had a rough go and we weren’t sure he would make it when we found him. When found, Scooby was skin and bones and it was apparent he had suffered for quite some time. After some tlc and much help from our amazing Vet, Scoobs is happy and healthy and will get his second chance at life. Stories like this keep us going, as these happy endings motivate us to continue to fight for the abused and voiceless.
We will miss you Scoobs, but we could not be happier for you. Enjoy those long walks on the beach, saying hi to everyone you meet and endless treats 🩵

Update: Adopted!

Meet Toby!

This little guy was found roaming and was never claimed. Toby can be a little reserved initially, but quickly warms up. He is a sweet boy and has a lot of energy. He loves to be with people and prefers not to be alone, so someone who is home more so than not would be ideal. Toby can be selective with canine friends, so a meet a greet would be required. Our little terrier mix buddy is approximately 2 years old and weighs 20 lbs. If you’re interested in meeting this cutie, please stop by the Shelter any day from 8-3 to pick up an application.

Meet Cash!

Our handsome Doodle boy came to us when he was found roaming and never claimed. Cash is such a sweet guy and loves everyone he meets. We think he would do well with other animals, but we do require a meet and greet to ensure everyone is happy. Aside from leash work, as he is a puller, we would say he’s pretty perfect.
Cash is approximately 1-2 years old and weighs 65 lbs. He was groomed today, so he is all cleaned up and ready for his forever home. If anyone is interested in meeting him, please stop by the Shelter any day from 8-3 to pick up an application.

** HARLEY: Available for adoption** Remember the dog that was tied to the shelters fence left alone? Us ACO’s told her the day she came in, “don’t worry pretty girl, there are a lot of people who want you.” Unfortunately after Harleys 7 day stray hold… Here we are 46 days later, not 1 application on her or any signs of interest for her. We are very upset for her. Harley is a great dog that just needs a loving family & someone who is willing to work with her on basic training. If you are willing to give this sweet baby a chance, please stop by the shelter any day from 8am- 3pm to pick up an application. All adoptions are done by appointment with an approved application.
