🐾 SAFETY TIPS FOR THE 4TH OF JULY 🎆 Pets don’t understand the celebrations and can naturally be scared of the noise, causing them to run away! ID tags are a great way for good Samaritans to get pets back to you without having to take them to a shelter and we sell them for only $5 at our KHS Store! Microchips are about the size of a grain of rice, sits between a pet’s shoulder blades, and is the most effective way for any shelter, rescue, or vet office to look up owner information. 1 in 3 pets go missing at some point and we don’t want owned pets in our local shelters!

We wanted to remind people:
• KEEP PETS INDOORS
• GET YOUR PETS MICROCHIPPED
• Update microchip information
• Make sure all your pets have a collar & ID
• Play music or TV to help drown out the noise
• Take a current photo of your pets
• Search next door at Wichita Animal Services if they get lost (all animals serve a 5-day stray hold)

It’s time to start preparing for the 4th of July for your dogs! 🎆🇺🇸🐾 Read below for some safety tips! 👇

1. 🐶 **Safe Space:** Create a calm, quiet area indoors where your dog can retreat from fireworks.
2. 💧 **Hydration:** Keep plenty of fresh water available to help keep them cool and hydrated.
3. 🚶‍♂️ **Exercise Early:** Take your dog for a walk or play early in the day to avoid peak fireworks hours.
4. 🎶 **Background Noise:** Play soothing music or white noise to help mask fireworks sounds.
5. 🚗 **ID Tags:** Ensure your dog’s ID tags are up-to-date in case they escape from fear.
6. 🎇 **No Fireworks:** Keep fireworks, sparklers, and glow sticks away from pets.
7. 💊**Consult Your Vet**: Ask your vet about calming treats or medication ahead of time.

It’s HOT out!🔥🥵 As temperatures rise, it’s crucial to keep our furry friends safe from heat stroke. Dogs can quickly overheat, leading to serious health risks. Provide plenty of water and shade, avoid exercising during peak heat, and never leave your dog in a hot car. Be vigilant and keep them cool and comfortable this summer! 🐶💧

🥵 IT’S HOT OUTSIDE ☀️ With temperatures projected to be 90°+ for the next week, we wanted to share some tips to keep your pet safe and healthy!

• GO FOR WALKS AT COOL TIMES 😎 Mornings and evenings when the sun isn’t fully out are ideal! An easy way to check if it’s too hot outside is to place the back of your hand on the sidewalk. If you can’t keep it there for longer than 5 seconds, walk at a cooler time of day when lower temperatures and more shade is provided. Walk on the grass and avoid black asphalt, as it traps the most heat and can cause blisters and scorched paws 🏥

• DON’T LEAVE PETS IN THE CAR 🚫 Cars can quickly overheat in a matter of minutes, even with the windows cracked. Be mindful of your routes & stops and leave the pets at home if you have to leave them in the car!

• GIVE THEM WATER & SHADE 💦 Cool water and shade will help protect your dogs against heat stroke. The best thing to do is bring your pets indoors when the sun is up and limit outdoor time. If you notice any signs of heat stroke (glazed eyes, shaky legs, heaving panting or drooling, vomiting, etc.), bring them inside immediately and get them some cool water! If their condition remains unchanged or worsens, contact your vet immediately!

Buster and Clover have just began their 2 week board and train and we are so excited to see their transformation🤩

One of the main issues we are going to work on with Clover is her jumping. Clover jumps on EVERYONE , and jumps right into their face 🙅‍♀️

For Buster, some of his main issues is pulling hard on the leash and not coming when called. He is a very stubborn pup who likes to do things when he feels like it 🤪
