Dear Dog Harbor family: It brings us great sadness to share this, but we know how adored Ammo is by all of you. Eric and I want to be transparent about what he is going through. Our beautiful Ammo has been diagnosed with bone cancer. The decision was made to amputate his leg and move forward with additional therapies to give Ammo the chance to continue to enjoy a pain free life with those he loves. He is the bravest, most resilient being we know and is reminding us daily just how extraordinary he truly is. We will not be sharing additional details here, but know that we are so grateful for everyone who has reached out to us. It brings us joy during a really dark time to know how loved Ammo is. Please know your patience is appreciated as scheduling changes may be necessary while we navigate this. We are beyond thankful for Ammo’s amazing veterinarian and the compassionate team at GLAH. Please keep Ammo in your thoughts as we face what challenges lie ahead and hold onto hope for continued love and happiness for our best friend. ❤️

Last month Dog Harbor turned 11 years old and as each year passes, I am just as astounded as the last as to how another year has come and gone so quickly. It wasn’t a year without trials and tribulations, but I continue to feel the love and appreciation you all have for what I do. Thank you for sharing your loved ones with me and being such an important piece of this journey.

Oliver melts my heart every time. He falls asleep during his drying session and I always catch a glimpse of his little tongue peaking out. He’s just that relaxed. I appreciate these moments because they are so rare in my grooming world.❤️

I wanted to share with everyone, because our Ammo is such an important piece of Dog Harbor, that he had emergency surgery today for a ruptured spleen and internal bleeding. The removed clot is being sent out for a confirmed diagnosis, and we are just trying to process the probability of what it may be. My husband and I are beyond devastated but we are trying so hard to be hopeful that this will be a miracle and that the expected diagnosis will be incorrect. Words can’t express how incredibly grateful we are for our vet getting him back home to us tonight. It’s because of Chris that he’s still with us.
Thank you to all the clients that were so understanding about rescheduling their appointments so I could be with my family. And to everyone that has reached out with kindness and positive thoughts, we can’t thank you enough. Everyone that knows me well, knows that Ammo is one of the most important pieces of our life. Please keep him in your thoughts as we try to navigate the upcoming days and stay strong for our sweet and absolutely incredible Ammo.❤️

Today Dog Harbor turns 10 years old. I still can’t fathom how that many years have come and gone. These years have been some of the most difficult, yet fulfilling years of my life. I have been rewarded with beautiful relationships with your dogs and the gift of trust, love, and joy of their existence. Their happiness is contagious. It’s been an honor to watch them grow through the stages of life and without hesitation they love unconditionally no matter their circumstances. And although these years haven’t come without tears, mistakes, and exhaustion, the lessons I have learned have been significant. I had no idea how taxing owning a one on one grooming business would be, and keeping my feet grounded has only been possible because of those who have appreciated and valued what I do.
So please, join me in this moment of gratitude. Whether you have been on this journey with me since the beginning or we have just recently crossed paths, your loyalty and kindness doesn’t go unnoticed. I appreciate you.

I’ve been grooming Quincy since he was a little nugget, but I came across this photo from 2014 and am taken by how distinguished he looks with 8+ years passing (and the simple fact that SO many years have flown by😉)! I am so grateful I’ve been grooming him his entire life ❤️
