🐾 Training Spotlight: Casper!🐾

We’re thrilled to have Casper with us at Caution K9 Kennels for his intermediate and advanced training! 🎓🐶

Casper’s handler has done an amazing job with basic obedience at home after his previous boarding, setting a strong foundation for his progress here. Consistency and follow-through are key, and Casper is a shining example of that!

Current Training Focus:

- Place Command: Casper is mastering staying in his "place" regardless of distractions. Over the past few days, we've been increasing the distance to build his accuracy and understanding.

Location Variability: We’ll be moving his place to various locations to ensure he remains consistent everywhere.

Off-Lead Work: Teaching Casper to respond reliably without a lead.

Respectful Boundaries: Working on maintaining respectful boundaries with mail personnel.

Distancing Commands: Ensuring Casper responds accurately to commands from a distance.

Redirection: Casper is doing an excellent job following through with redirection during training sessions.

•Jax’s Obedience Training Update•

I wanted to share an update on Jax’s training progress. We have focused on a few key areas to improve his behavior and overall obedience.

Rushing Out the Door: 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️
Jax has been learning not to run out as soon as the door opens. We’ve been practicing patiently waiting at the door until given the command to proceed. He’s showing great improvement and is beginning to understand the importance of waiting for permission.

Respecting Boundaries on Lead: 🚫
We also worked on respecting boundaries while on the lead. Jax is learning to walk calmly without pulling or straying too far. This training is helping him understand his space and how to stay close while walking together.

Proper Reactions to Other Dogs: 🐶
Another focus area has been Jax’s reactions to other dogs. We’ve been practicing calm and controlled responses when encountering other dogs during our walks. Jax is becoming more composed and less reactive, making our walks much more pleasant and stress-free.

Basic Obedience:
Jax is doing well on his obedience! Just within the week, he has learned sit, down, wait, off, and leave it. He is still working his way to becoming more well-rounded while distracted.

Jax is making wonderful progress, and I’m proud of his dedication and willingness to learn. With continued practice and reinforcement, I’m confident he’ll become even more well-behaved and responsive.

: Do you know how to recognize pain in your dog or cat? 🐕🐈 Some signs are more obvious, such as limping or yelping, while others are more subtle, such as increased sleeping or a change in litter box habits.

If you suspect your pet is in pain, reach out to your veterinarian. Never try to treat your pet with human medications since many are harmful to pets.

Billy is a nervous fella. We’re working on basic commands counterconditioning on lead, and recall. He came to us with complaints of disobedience, leash issues, and overall nervousness. 🐾

Veto is 13 weeks old and thriving! The sooner you start training, the better your dog will be as he or she ages. Since birth, Veto has been around children, numerous different types of people, noises, grooming handling, stores. Positive Socialization is crucial for our dogs as they age to prevent reactivity.

Bolt and Diezel are all set to go home today! ❤️ Such good boys!
