Hot off the press!!! The CDC has relaxed their requirements to re-enter the States from Canada and other low risk rabies countries!!! Unfortunately the > 6 month puppy rule still applies, but this is a step in the right direction.

The form required is free and the owner just downloads it, fills it out and prints it for EACH dog individually prior to travel. The form is good for 6 months and can be used for multiple re-entry UNLESS the dog visits a country known to be high rabies! The dogs still have to be microchipped—so a good reason to have your babies chipped! Strangely the form says nothing about rabies vaccination status… so it’s possible more things may change? Let us know if you have questions and we can try to help figure it out!!!

Feeling optimistic! Yesterday and today were “interesting” but we are finally all back online!!!

Thanks so much for being so patient while our stellar team worked overtime—brought in their personal generator—allowing us to function so we could help some of our clients and patients while J&J Electric were hooking the cut electric line back up in the muddy trench during the torrential downpour!!! Today we called in our computer specialist Wireright Technologies and again our staff worked overtime to get the cloud re-instated…. We are so grateful for such dedicated people on our team!!!

We should be back to fully functional now—so please call Monday if something got lost in the “fire!”

Construction update: construction did not start yesterday. At the present moment we do not have an estimated date since the signs about closing 235 have been removed. In anticipation of the construction we have moved our parking space signs off of the first 4 spaces. Please park at a marked space when you arrive at the office. The lot behind the building is staff parking only. Thanks everyone for your cooperation and patience. We will update again when we know more about the expected start date.

Attention Fellow Adventure Dog Families!!! If you travel to Canada the rules change August 1st. You need to have your dog microchipped with an approved microchip and then rabies vaccinated in that order. Many of our patients are already microchipped and we use international chips—so no worries if that’s the case. But you do need a special form filled out by an accredited veterinarian (we are accredited here!!!) that verifies the rabies vaccine. Best I can tell, this form has to be filled out within 30 days of travel, but if we are up to date with our exam within the last year, I don’t think we have to personally see them in that time.

The legal terms are a bit murky for me—so our understanding may change! Unfortunately the CDC has also made it illegal to import a puppy to the US that is less than 6 months of age and if you travel to Canada with your puppy—you cannot come back into the US unless he is over 6 months and rabies vaccinated as stated above.

This has been pretty upsetting news for so many of us that like to import puppies and travel with our dogs!!! But we should have you covered if you have questions and need this service!!!

Plants do have the power to heal!! You just have to know which ones to eat and apply for the right condition. Local Sumatrans use the Akar Kuning plant to treat malaria, cholera and to relieve pain. In Chinese Medical parlance, it would classify this plant as a blood mover-other blood moving plants that may be more familiar are turmeric, frankincense, myrrh and willow tree bark (aspirin). Read how this great ape healed his large wound in less than a month.

It is the first time a creature in the wild has been seen using a medicinal plant to treat a wound.

Lyme disease is on the rise! We’ve actually had a few patients come up positive already this spring that have NOT traveled out of the area! Just FYI, this is an easy disease to prevent with an effective vaccine! Thankfully dogs tend to deal better with Lyme than humans, but if you have any questions Dr. Clark is happy to answer—Lyme is near and dear to her 🤓😝

Big things are happening outside our building! We're getting a new drive way and the intersection is getting a roundabout. Starting sometime in April/May our yard will be a construction zone. We've been assured that everyone will still be able to get into the driveway until they are ready to tear it up. When construction is finished our driveway will be part of the roundabout. It will be noisy and take 4 of our parking spaces, but once complete will hopefully make it easier and safer to get out onto 68 and 235. We appreciate everyone's patience over the next 6-9 months! We'll do our best to make your pet's visits fear free like always. To help, us please make sure you arrive at the scheduled time to limit your wait in your vehicle and have your pet(s) on a leash or in a carrier before opening your doors.

Update: phones are back. Thanks for your patience.

We are experiencing technical difficulties with our phone provider. Please call our temporary number: 937-602-7565 to contact the office. Please keep in mind that this is only one line instead of our usual four and bare with us if you get a busy signal.

Great information on one of our most frequently asked questions about when to neuter our puppies!

Neutering (including spaying) of male and female dogs in the first year after birth has become routine in the U.S. and much of Europe, but recent research reveals that for some dog breeds, neutering may be associated with increased risks of debilitating joint disorders and some cancers, complicating...
