πŸŽ‰ There's a saying, "the days are long but the years are short." Well, at Snyp, that's only half true! Our days fly by because we absolutely love what we do (plus, our adorable furbabies keep us on our toes!). However, this past year has felt like a blink! On Friday, we celebrated our first birthday. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported and worked with us - it's been an amazing journey! πŸ₯³πŸΎβœ¨

Hey everyone! 🌟 For those with teens, it's that time of year when they tackle their Life Orientation careers projects. My daughter's best friend interviewed me about my job, and it was such a heartwarming reminder of how fortunate I am to do what I do. This year, I've met incredible fur parents, amazing superheroes working for animal welfare, and, of course, so many adorable furbabies. Thank you all for trusting me with your precious little creatures. Who wouldn’t love coming to work with these funny, quirky, cuddly, and cute babies every day? πŸΎπŸ’–

Another week has passed, and once again, we’re a bit behind on our Facebook updates. Every day we are blessed to cuddle your furbabies, ensuring they are warm, stress-free, and experiencing as little discomfort as possible when they are spayed or neutered.

This Friday, little Gabby Cage touched our hearts deeply. Found on top of a pile of rubbish, she was suffering from mange, worms, and biliary, barely clinging to life. A Good Samaritan rushed her to a local vet, where she was admitted to the hospital and put on a drip. After intensive treatment, she was finally ready to go home, and her rescuer became her new mom. In honor of the kind vet who fought so hard to save her, this brave little puppy was named Gabby.

Little Gabby came in on Friday to be sterilized. We are deeply honored to have had her at Snyp, and we salute all the Good Samaritans who tirelessly fight for animal welfare every day. πŸ’”πŸΎ

This past Friday, SNYP and Buffalo City CVC teamed up to make a difference in Mzamomhle by spaying 11 dogs! A heartfelt thank you to Louise and Carla from Spay a Stray for organizing the collection and delivery of the dogs, and to SAVA CVC for their incredible support.

These pups received not only sterilization but also treatment for mange, worms, ticks, fleas, and were vaccinated against rabies. Additionally, two of them were treated for venereal tumors.

It's truly amazing what we can accomplish together. Many hands make light work, and it's so fulfilling to come together and improve the lives of these wonderful dogs. 🌟❀️

πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ The Tour de France kicked off yesterday, and cycling fever is in full swing! Speaking of cycles, we've just passed the winter solstice, which means longer days ahead. But guess what? Our feline friends are also gearing up for their own "cycling season" soon! 🐱 Before your cat gets in the heat of the moment, make sure to get them spayed or neutered to prevent unplanned litters. Let's keep our kitties happy and healthy! 🌞🐾

πŸŽ‰ Happy Wednesday everyone! Today was Spay a Stray Day at Snyp, and it was an amazing success! 🐾 Louise went the extra mile, bringing in dogs from Nompomolelo, Ducats South, Newlands, and Scenery Park – what a busy transport schedule!

These adorable pups have now been sterilized, dewormed, treated for ticks and fleas, and two even received treatment for TVT (a transmissible tumor). We’re hopeful that their lives will improve now that they won’t be constantly having litters.

A heartfelt thank you to Tracy Taylor, whose birthday wish was simply "pay for a spay." Her friend Pat Hill made that wish come true by gifting this precious kitty, Snowball, with a spay and hernia repair. That's truly a gift for life! πŸ’–πŸΆπŸ±

Today was pyjama day at Snyp, and all the babies looked absolutely adorable in their PJs! (Although, honestly those not in pajamas were just as cute!) Our own animals are warm and cozy in our homes, but many others aren't as fortunate. Furry Godmother, SPCA, and other NPOs need warm blankets. Please consider donating this winter. You can drop off donations at Snyp in the afternoon (please not in the morning when we are busy snipping) and we'll make sure they get to those in need. Let's spread some warmth and love!

Have you ever wondered why your cat rubs their cheeks against you? Cats have special scent glands on their cheeks, chins, and heads. When they rub their heads against you, they're marking you with their scent. This is their way of showing affection and claiming you as their own. So, it’s trueβ€”our cats really do own us! ❀️🐱

When we’re done with the spaying, it’s time for playing! Your furbabies bring so much joy to our day with their cuddles, licks, and adorable antics. Who wouldn’t love coming to work when you get to cuddle cute little chaps like this every day? 🐾❀️

Mondays can be tough, and this week was no exception! This little pooch with her paw over her eyes perfectly sums up that Monday feeling. But there's a bright side: nothing beats the Monday blues like knowing that feral kitties are getting the care they need. This week, we've sterilized 9 feral cats, improving their health and reducing the number of kittens struggling on the streets. Huge thanks to Furever Fixed ,Claire from Hilltop, Manuela from Four Rivers for raising the funds needed to get these kitties sterilized and for patiently manning the traps to ensure that these cats are safely trapped and brought in for their procedures

Hey everyone,

I know we’ve been a bit quiet on Facebook lately, but I wanted to check in and make sure all our SNYP families and their furbabies are staying warm and dry.

To bring a little extra warmth and joy to your day, we thought we’d share some adorable pictures that are sure to give you that warm, fuzzy feeling. 🐾❀️

Speaking of keeping warm, if anyone has spare blankets, please consider donating them to animals in need in our community. Organizations like SPCA, Spay a Stray, Petpals and Furry Godmother would greatly appreciate your help.

Stay cozy and take care!

🌟 Happy Workers Day from the Snyp family! 🌟

Today, we celebrate all the incredible individuals who dedicate themselves to making a difference – whether it's for their families, for others, or for our beloved furry friends. 🐾 To the trap, neuter, and release heroes, the animal foster parents, and those who tirelessly organize sterilization and treatment for township dogs, administer rabies vaccinations, and lead animal fundraisers – we salute you all! πŸ™Œ Your dedication and compassion make our world a better place for animals everywhere.

We want to take this moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Your hard work and commitment inspire us every day. We simply couldn't do what we do without your support and passion. πŸ’– So, as we honor the labor that shapes our communities, we hope you take some well-deserved rest and enjoy a day filled with love and appreciation. Happy Workers Day! πŸ’« With love from Snyp. 🐾

Speaking of balls (yes, we talk about those a lot here!), take a gander at this handsome pair. Male dogs sure have a knack for keeping busy in the breeding department, don't they? But fear not! Neutering your male pup at the right time can work wonders in preventing prostate problems, certain cancers, and even curb some not-so-cute behaviors like urine marking and the urge to roam and brawl. Remember: no balls, no brawls! 🐢 Let's keep our furry family happy, healthy, and full of love! πŸ’•

🌟 Another week has flown by, and oh, how time slips away when we're busy making our furry friends' lives better! 🐾 Despite our best efforts to keep you updated with the latest news, we've been caught up in a whirlwind of snipping – and trust me, that's a fantastic thing! Our hearts swell with love for your furbabies, especially when they're peacefully dozing after a safe snip. πŸ’€ But oh, like Cinderella's midnight curfew, our furry friends seem to transform into a choir of yodelers right around 12 (that's 12 lunchtime)

πŸΎπŸ’• Let's give a big round of applause to these adorable furbabies who came in for their spay today! πŸŽ‰ It's easy to be tempted by the idea of letting your beautiful pooches have a litter of pups, but here's the heartbreaking truth: our local shelters are bursting with equally beautiful dogs and cats who are eagerly waiting for loving homes. 🏑❀️ Let's remember that there simply aren't enough homes for all the precious fur babies out there, so let's resist the temptation and opt to have our pets sterilized instead. By doing so, we're not only helping to control the pet population, but we're also protecting our furry friends from potential health issues like breast cancer, womb infections, and certain other cancers. πŸ™Œ Let's spread love and compassion by being responsible pet owners! 🐢😺

🐾 Today was a day filled with cat sterilizations, and let me tell you, it was purr-fectly wonderful! 😺 Just look at this handsome boy who was so chill before his surgery that he fell asleep in his carrier. 😴 How amazing that his snyp was a fear-free event! 😻 Huge thanks to everyone who entrusted their precious furbabies to us. We absolutely adore taking care of them! ❀️

🐰🍫 Easter may be over, but the chocolate hangover might linger for some - including our furry friends! 🐢 Did you know chocolate is poisonous to dogs? It's not just an old wives' tale! The severity of poisoning depends on the type and amount of chocolate consumed. Cocoa beans top the list, followed by cocoa powder, baking chocolate, dark chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, and milk chocolate.

But wait, what about white chocolate? While it lacks cocoa solids and isn't toxic, its high fat content can upset your pet's stomach. 🀒

Symptoms of chocolate poisoning can appear within 2 to 24 hours after ingestion and may include vomiting, diarrhea, increased thirst, tremors, seizures, and even death.

If your furry friend manages to raid your Easter stash, rush them to the vet ASAP! Providing information about the type, amount, and timing of ingestion can be crucial for their treatment. And remember, chocolate is a big no-no as a treat for our canine companions! Keep those sweets out of reach and keep our furry friends safe. 🐾

🌟✨ Hey there, wonderful friends! 🐾 We've been a bit quiet on the Facebook front lately, but guess what? We've been super busy snipping away at Snyp! πŸΆπŸ’– These adorable furballs have all found their forever homes, and we couldn't be happier! 🏑 But hey, let's spread the love even further! There are still so many hopeful pups and cuddly kitties waiting for their chance at happiness in our local shelters. πŸ±πŸ’• So, when you're ready to welcome a new fur baby into your life, remember to check out your nearby shelters first! And hey, here's a little tip: getting your fur baby spayed or neutered not only benefits them but also helps reduce the strain on these hardworking shelters. Let's make a difference together! πŸŒˆπŸ’« πŸŽ‰

πŸŒŸπŸ’– What a heartwarming week it's been! Despite the stress, our incredible patients never fail to bring joy and comfort. Today, sweet little Gracie stole the show with her adorable head rubs and mesmerizing markings. 🐾✨ When I mentioned her face resembled a Rorschach test, her mom playfully chimed in, "She was born in a psychologist's couch!" πŸ›‹οΈπŸŒΈ What a delightful coincidence! No wonder Gracie's presence is like therapy in the midst of a hectic day. 😊 πŸΆπŸ’•

🐾 This weekend, I had an eye-opening experience in Cape Town at the "Woof Project" pop-up dog adoption center. The incredible marketing drew me in, but what struck me was the heartbreaking reality behind it. Why should we have to resort to creative tactics to find homes for pets abandoned by their owners? It's tragic and wrong. After over 20 years in welfare, you'd think I'd realize sooner, but sometimes, when you're in the trenches every day, you can't step back to see the bigger picture. Seeing those innocent animals longing for a home felt like a punch in the gut. Shelters aren't to blame for euthanizing healthy animals; they're cleaning up other people's messes. They're constrained by limited resources and space. The solution isn't complicated: Spay and neuter your pets. Do it early, before they contribute to the cycle of overpopulation. No excuses. Let's work together to make a difference! 🐢❀️

🐾 Happy Leap Year! 🐾

On this extra-special 29th of February, let's take a moment to appreciate our furry friends with a hilarious clip from Best Friends Animal Society. πŸ˜„ But amidst the laughs, let's also remember some important truths about our beloved pets:

1) Yep, cats and dogs have some interesting family dynamics... so if you've got littermates, don't be surprised if they get a little *too* cozy and give you a surprise litter! 😳🐱🐢

2) Cats are like turbo-charged breeders, starting as young as 4 months old! So don't procrastinate, get your kitty spayed pronto! πŸš«πŸ‘Ά

3) Cats: the ultimate romantics! If your kitty was meowing up a storm and suddenly stops, well, there might be some tiny paws on the way! Cats only ovulate when mated, so if she's not on heat anymore then she is probably pregnant!πŸΎπŸ’•

4) Multitasking at its finest: cats can get pregnant while still nursing their little ones! Talk about efficiency! πŸ˜…πŸ€±

5) When love knows no bounds: male dogs will go to *extreme* lengths to find a mate. So even if you're dogless, keep an eye out for any wandering suitors! πŸ•πŸ’¨

So folks, let's all do our part and remember the golden rule: "Get them snipped!" Let's keep those surprise litters to a minimum and ensure our furry pals live their best, carefree lives! 🌟 🐾

50% of all β€ͺ #β€Žpets‬ born are accidents. β€ͺ #β€ŽSpaying‬ or β€ͺ #β€Žneutering‬ your pet at 4 months can prevent those accidents and help save millions β€ͺ #β€Žcats‬ and β€ͺ #β€Ž...
