You're safe, dear Daisy ๐ถ
On 28 June 2024, our Inspectorate received a distressing video showing a 19-year-old man repeatedly beating his dog, named Daisy. The complainant, who reported the incident, informed us that this horrific act was a daily occurrence. The video depicted the man placing the puppy on the floor and hitting it repeatedly with his fists all over its body.
Our team immediately intervened, rescuing Daisy and taking her for veterinary attention. We also opened a criminal case against the suspect. The suspect was arrested and appeared in court on 15 July 2024. The matter was postponed, but rest assured, we are committed to seeking justice for this innocent puppy. Our gratitude goes to the vigilant individual who reported the abuse. Your actions made a difference. Daisy is now up for adoption and is safe in Kennel 20.

๐จ Urgent Call for Help! ๐จ
We are devastated to share that our SPCA was targeted by a heartless thief last night who stole ALL the taps from our staff bathroom. This despicable act has left us in a dire situation.
The theft has led to continuous water wastage throughout the night. We rely on water to maintain a clean and safe environment of our kennels. We can't shut off the main water supply, as our kennels must stay clean and hygienic. Our dedicated staff needs access to basic facilities while caring for the animals. This theft not only hinders their work but also their well-being.
We are a non-profit organisation, and every donation makes a significant difference. Please consider contributing to help us replace the stolen taps and ensure the well-being of our animals and staff.

The Germiston Bedfordview SPCA were invited to Germiston South Primary School and were welcomed by a hall full of young animal warriors.
Kennel Manager, Mthunzi Motha gave the children a talk on responsible pet care, animal welfare principles and the goals and mission of the SPCA. We believe that humane education is fundamental in teaching people to respect and care for animals
We did not leave empty handed, the children had collected food and treats for our animals.
Thank you to all the parents, teachers and students, we are so grateful to you all.
If you would like us to visit your school please send an email to [email protected]

๐Sheep on the lose ๐
We received a call yesterday regarding stray sheep near the Elandsfontein train station.
Our team rushed to the scene to find 19 sheep roaming near the track and a busy side road.
It took huge amounts of effort to keep the very nimble and quick sheep off the train tracks and busy road.
Thank you to our team for ensuring the safety of these animals.
Please assist us to ensure we keep doing the very important work we do.
