***WEEKEND UPDATE***

💦This past week we finally saw some rain falling on the dry ground (and this time it did a bit more than just settle the dust!). Let’s hope this means there is more rain on the horizon. 🐾If you’ve been looking for the perfect place to spend a day out in the fresh air with friends and family, then look no further than the Karkloof Country Club. We’ve got an incredible network of trails for you to walk, run or cycle and our clubhouse offers great food and cold drinks for your pre- or post-adventure!🍻

⚒TRAILS UPDATE
The rain earlier this week has provided us with the much needed soil moisture to compact a lot of the trail features that we have build and upgraded in the past few weeks. This, combined with the hot weather at the end of the week, means that the trails are going to be baked to perfection for some epic riding this weekend!

⛔Please note that due to a high FDI the Forestry Trails will be closed on Friday 13 September. 🐄The Milk Trails will be open for your enjoyment. Please respect trail closures as this is for your own safety and the continued use of Sappi land for the trails.

Harvesting is continuing across the Demagtenberg area which means that there will be abnormally heavy traffic which will affect some of the Outback Trails. Please be aware of timber trucks and machinery when riding in the area.
⛔TRAIL CLOSURES – Lebanon Hill road, Windsong, and Sisonke trails are closed due to harvesting operations. Please respect trail closures as this is for your own safety.

WEATHER UPDATE
Apart from Friday, which is going to be a scorcher, the weekend weather is going to be perfect to get out and active on the trails. It is going to be fairly cloudy with mild temperatures.

The Karkloof Country Club boasts an incredible network of trails that criss-cross hills, valleys, forests, and streams, purpose built for your ultimate enjoyment. So, grab your friends, family and pets and join us for epic adventures!
🎉FIRST FRIDAY 🚵🏃‍♀️🏑 – We have it all on offer this weekend! Join us for a fun outride or challenge yourself with our trail run time trial free of charge! The ride starts at 17:20 and the run at 17:30. You can also join us for our SUPER social 6-a-side hockey which starts at 18:00 (please see previous post for details).
🇿🇦GO BOKKE🦌 – The club’s pub and kitchen will be open for the Boks vs All Blacks game on Saturday, so, put on your Green & Gold and come show some support for our boys.🍻

The trails team has been doing some erosion control and drainage work on the trails in preparation for the rain season (if only it would come!) to make sure that the trails are solid and sound for your continued enjoyment.

*** WEEKEND UPDATE ***

📢The trails are calling! Earlier this week we had some searing temperatures which may have deterred some of you from getting out and about on the Karkloof trails. I have good news! This weekend we are going to have absolutely perfect conditions for some epic adventures 🚵‍♂️. Why not make a day of it and join us for breakfast or lunch at the club where we have delicious meals and cold drinks on offer🍻.
🔥NB. Please note that conditions are still extremely dry in the plantations and that all cautions must be taken to avoid risk of fires.

TRAILS UPDATE
The trails are still very dry, but they are flowing beautifully with some loose dirt in places to make it exciting! ⚒The trails team has been on the Outback trails this week doing some much needed maintenance work on the section heading down from Rene’s Rumble.
⛔Trail Closures🚳 - Please note that the following trails are closed due to timber harvesting operations: Lebanon Hill Road, Windsong, & Sisonke. Please respect trail closures as this is for your own safety.
🟠The FDI is forecasted as Orange for Saturday, which means that there is a possibility that the Forestry trails could be closed if conditions change.

***WEEKEND UPDATE***

It seems as though we have turned the corner, and that winter is behind us⛱. The days are beautifully sunny and the temperatures are climbing again. This all makes for the perfect conditions to get back out on the trails for pure fun, enjoyment and bliss. So shake the cobwebs off your shoes and join us at the Karkloof Country Club for some incredible adventures. 🇿🇦The “Bokke” 🏉 are taking on the Aussies at 11:45 on Saturday morning. The Big Screen will be up at the club so please come and grab some lunch and watch the boys give the Wallabies another hiding! 🍻

TRAILS UPDATE 🚵
The trails are very dry and dusty at the moment, but they are still in great condition for a run or ride. The trails team has spent the week reworking some features and sharpening up the complex of trails from the bottom of Dragon’s Back. You are always welcome to assist us in riding in the fresh dirt on these trails!
🔥The FDI is Orange for the weekend which means that there is a possibility that the trails could be closed if the conditions worsen. Please practice extreme caution regarding fire hazards as the plantations are extremely dry.🚭

***WEEKEND UPDATE***

🎉It’s the looong weekend! 🦸‍♀️But, more importantly, as it is Woman’s Day we would like to say a special thank you to all the ladies at the Club. Thank you for all your hard work, we appreciate it. Alright ladies, as this is your weekend it’s time to get out on the trails and show the boy’s how it’s done!

🚵‍♂️GO GRAVEL RACE🏁
On Saturday the club will host the Harvard House Go Gravel event. All trails will remain open but please be aware that the race will be making use of the following routes/roads: Porcupine Way, Middle Road, Dovehouse to Falls road & The main Falls access road. Please obey instructions from marshals.

TRAILS UPDATE ⚒
The team spent the early part of the week clearing the trails after the strong winds littered them with sticks last weekend. We have also done some prep work for both the Go Gravel and the Karkloof 100 miler events.
🔥NB. Please be extremely mindful of fire risk as the plantations are like a tinder box at the moment and any small spark could result in a devastating fire. This also serves as a reminder that smoking is prohibited while on the trails in the plantations.

🚵‍♂️🥇With all the action on the go at the Olympic Games some might feel inspired to get out onto the trails and get active. Who knows, you could be the next South African Olympic cycling medalist! With the weather heating up this weekend there’s no excuse, so head out for some epic adventures at the Karkloof Country Club.

Please note that due to a high FDI index and increased fire risk the Forestry Trails and the Karkloof Falls picnic area will be closed on Friday 02 Aug and on Sunday 04 Aug. The Milk Trails will be open on Friday and Sunday for your enjoyment. The Forestry Trails will be open on Saturday.

FIRST FRIDAY
Its the 1st Friday of August which means you are welcome to join us for a FREE cycle or 6km time trial trail run at 17:00. 🏑📢Our Super Social 6-a-side hockey is also back this month, so come and join us on the field for some epic fun and enjoy our Burger & Drink special.🍻🎉 Please check our previous social media posts for more information.

📌*WEEKEND UPDATE*📌

We would like to start this post by thanking our Karkloof community for their tireless efforts to battle the wildfires that swept through the region since last Sunday evening, without you we would have lost so much more. In the same breath we also want to send our heartfelt condolences to those who have been affected by the fires, our thoughts and prayers go out to you.

After the strong winds we’ve had of late our trails team has been hard at work clearing fallen trees and debris off the trails💨, but please be careful out there and bear in mind that there may be sections that we have not got to yet. Apart from the trails our talented team has also been busy with other tasks including putting up new shade nets over the kids play area at the club and doing some clean-up and clearing work at the Woodhouse Falls picnic area. Be sure to check out the new walking trail that we have made down to the pools at the bottom of the Woodhouse Falls!

🇿🇦BOK FEVER🦌
We have another cracking Springbok game to look forward to this Saturday. If you weren’t one of the lucky few to get tickets to the game, do not despair, the club will be open for the rugby! So, bring the gees and enjoy the game with family and friends while digging in to a scrumptious meal and a cold beverage.

WEEKEND UPDATE

🔥NB *FIRE UPDATE* NB🔥

🔴Due to a RED FDI rating we have decided to close the Forest Trails and the Falls Picnic Sites on Friday 05 July and Sunday 07 July. 🐮The Milk Trails, however, will be open and are ready for action. Be sure to give the cows a friendly wave as you go past and don’t forget to listen out for the incredible bird sounds in the indigenous forest sections. The club’s bar and kitchen will remain open throughout the weekend.
Please respect the trail closures as this if for your own safety, thank you.

A tale of Fire and Ice! It looks like we are in for a couple chilly days this weekend and into next week. Winter is tightening its grip with some possible snow predicted on the surrounding mountains for the next week.
Weather Update – Saturday is going to get off to an icy start with 0° as a minimum🥶, but warming to a very pleasant and sunny 18°☀️.

Don’t let the cold put you off though, the best way to warm up is to get active after all! Grab your family and friends and head out onto the immaculate Karkloof trails for some fresh air and amazing times. You are guaranteed to find something you love out here in the beautiful Karkloof Valley (even if it is the club’s notoriously delicious burgers!).

📢It’s the First Friday of July! This means that anybody is welcome to join us for the FREE 6km trail run time trial 🏃 and a fun bike ride🚵. Our club kitchen and bar will be open and there is even a jumping castle fir the kiddies to burn off their energy! So, join us for an evening of good fun and great food.🎉

Yes that’s right! The club will be open for the Springboks vs Ireland game this Saturday. It’s bound to be an absolute jol, so don your bok jersey and bring the gees as we get behind our boys for an epic game of rugby.🍻
