As per usual, the coldest day of the year before spring's arrival 🌸🥶

My kids are wishing for some snow since it hasn't snowed here by us for a while. We are very happy the snow is missing us, as the chickens are not to fond of the cold weather, and snow will not make them happy at all.

Hopefully soon the rain will come & the bugs and green grass will be in abundance again.🤞🤞🤞

Here we were blessed with only one burst pipe so far.

It has been a strange winter, from extreme cold to mild days and looking like rain and back to just cold🥶

With exams in 2 different schools and to get Tylor to study while Ciara is on holiday has been a challenge, but thank goodness it's coming to an end, and both can enjoy being on break the next week!

Our chickens prefer the warmer days & love basking in the morning sun as soon as the mist lifts.
For us it has been just glorious to sit on the stoep and enjoying a cup in the warm sun and watching farm life.

April was a whirl wind month, we survived the Cape of Storms, when the kids went to participate in the SA Laser Run Championships this year.
Ciara almost had her feet blown out from under her, but finished strong despite the crazy winds.
Tylor defended his title & took Gold 🥇 again for the U17 boys.
Our last day was bearable & at least we could walk on the beach that day!

We are marching on to March!
The first long weekend for the year!
The first school holiday for the year!
Yeah, a well deserved break just up ahead!

The heatwaves had our poor chickens panting to cool down & we've been replacing the water multiple times a day to ensure fresh cold water during the extremely hot days.

The other problem with the extreme heat is they eat less & drink more, which means they take a bit longer to get plump like we like them. Mother nature keeps us on our toes with the challenges she likes to through at us.
We had 2 extremely severe wind storms recently & we almost lost some of our solar panels! Marius to run and jump on top of the bakkie to grab & hang on for dear life to save them! Luckily the coops were all closed & none of them or the chickens flew away (which has happened in the past)

We had such an amazing time in Bali!

The people are so friendly and helpful.

The food rich in flavors & spices 🌶️🌶️🌶️

We were blessed with hot summer days and only had 1 night with rain, which increased the humidity by a LOT 🥵

Sandy beaches, clear blue ocean and sunny skies, what more could we ask for - Paradise Bliss

After the sight seeing and tasting the local cuisine, it was time for the real reason of our little trip -

Biathle & Triatle World Championships 🤩

It was an all new environment and challenges that the kids faced head on with eagerness to prove themselves.
With a tough beach run on HOT sand, transitioning on a slant & currents coming in from low to high tide that pull at you, it was by no means an easy feat. They dug deep and showed the world they belonged!!

Both Finished top 20 in each of their races!!

Words cannot explain how proud we are of both of them & what they've accomplished 🥰

Good News🥳 bad news😢 Hear all about it!🗞️
Tylor & Ciara participated in the Biathle & Triathle South African Championships this past weekend in Pretoria. It was a very hot & very windy weekend that has challenged each athlete to dig deep within themselves and work extra hard to achieve their best. There we comments from some athletes regarding the thin air here in Pretoria, but I'm sure it was the windy day that took their breath away!
Tylor & Ciara both qualified to represent SAMPA at the World Championship in Bali at the beginning of November.
We are super proud of them and cannot wait to see them perform at this world-class event. It will be their very first event on beach sand running & open water swim and they cannot wait to give it their all!
This is going to be a family trip and we will be closed for any orders/deliveries between 25th October and 7th November.
We will arrange a last delivery on the 24th of October and then again 15th November.
We will not have a Saturday delivery at the beginning of November, but will arrange collection of orders at the Cheese Gourmet in Linden and The Landing Coffee shop in Dunvegan before we leave and after our return.
Please plan accordingly🙏

News
The ripple effect of the Avian Flu has reached our little farm. We've been Blessed that none of our birds are sick or showing signs of being infected (good news).
The bad news is that our hens are now getting very old and are laying less and less eggs, although they are bigger, the quality is also affected with the age of the hens.
At times we've supported a local free range farmer when we are short on eggs, but they are also struggling to keep up with the egg demands.
We have a few eggs that is coming in each day, but not nearly enough to cover our all orders.
We will try and fill as many egg orders as possible, but I know I won't have enough.
We will communicate with each order placed to advice about stock availability.
We hope you understand the current difficult and sensitive situation we are facing & we pray this pass and we can get new hens soon.
