This lovely, affectionate and easygoing 18 years young gelding is looking for his special forever home as a companion and hack. He lives out, although he is happy stabled too, he does not need shoes, he is a good doer and can be hacked out on his own or with other horses.
Contact me on FB Messenger if you are a genuine and caring home. He is currently living in the Kzn Midlands.

Selsley Farm is slowly clearing out all invasive trees. This is possibly the biggest Privet ever!It was felled to perfection, falling on the drive and missing all else nearby. Congratulations to Duduza and his team for a job well done.

This mare, rising four, has had such an unfortunate start in life, even having been raised as an orphan foal, and having had a colic op as a foal, which all happened before she came to Selsley Farm.
After her accident in June of this year, she steadily deteriorated to the point of where, a month later, she could not walk and struggled to raise herself if she had lain down to rest.
The Vet’s prognosis was extremely poor and guarded, as was that given by the Chiropracter. In fact we were told it would be more humane to have her euthanized.
We were not going to give up on her. We embarked on which has been an ongoing five month period of Transeva therapy which was started by Annette Schmidt and then continued by myself in the ensuing months. We progressed to small daily hand walks on the farm and lots of love and positive reinforcement from ourselves as well as exercising her joints and massaging her daily.
She has now progressed to being led on daily “outrides” which she loves.
She is probably 90% improved now.
She may never be an athlete or a competitive horse but I was promised by Stephen Gill that I could breed with her and have her first foal. The Chiropractor is absolutely amazed at her progress, as is my Vet.
Unfortunately she is still not declared well enough or strong enough to be ridden, nor can she be covered yet.
This is an ongoing story ....

I recently had a lesson with a new student. The student is a competitive rider, who has had ' Natural horsemanship lessons' before.
Some of the movements we do were in place, but the relaxation aspect needed work, but the biggest issue she had was that she was unable to stop her horse once he got up to higher gaits. I started going through the basics with her, but the topic of gadgets came up.
I recommended she stop using gadgets altogether, and focus on developing a proper foundation. She responded that her other instructor had told her she should use the gadget in question. I won't mention the specific gadget, because I want to be clear here.. there is no gadget that replaces foundations, and no gadget that doesn't have a negative side effect.
The point here is: the answer to your problem doesn't lie in fixing your horse, but in changing the methods that cause the problem.
Yes, most other people are resorting to quick fixes, or shortcuts, but that same group of 'most people' have to snack on ibuprofen 3 times a day before they are even 30. Horses that won't stop because gadgets have made them dull, horses that won't respond to leg because people squeeze with their legs to hang on, horses that spook because no one addresses anxiety, horses that buck or rear because people hang on their reins.. these all make riding dangerous.. not horses themselves..the techniques that ignore the cause of behaviours and try put a band over the symptom.
If this rings true to you and you want to approach it differently.. let me know.. we won't force you to drop everything at once.. but we will let you know our recommendation.. you will still see positive changes if you only follow half our recommendations, but don't be surprised if some of your problems linger.
Most people come to us when they see our horses behaviour, or other students horses behaviour, and want the same from their horses.. horses like ours are the result of letting go of how you have always done things, and being open to evidence based training methods AND how you manage your horses living arrangements.
