And thatβs a wrap!
The last horse has left the stables, Bangalow Temporary Equine Hospital has officially closed its doors.
The last flood affected horse Paddy left yesterday afternoon with some very sad and teary volunteers saying goodbye.
Yesterday all the horses left Bangalow showgrounds to either go to foster carers or to new paddocks to continue to recover.
We would not have been able to rescue and support 15 flood affected horses without the help of some very special people and businesses that went above and beyond to help us. A big shout out and thank you to:
The caretaker Shane at Bangalow showgrounds for putting up with us and letting us use the grounds.
Our amazing vets volunteering their time that put the absolute best care into all the horses recovery.
Dr Nikika Stibbard
Richmond River Equine Veterinary Services
Dr Megan Kearny
Vitality Vetcare
Dr Rhian
Gold Coast Equine Clinic
All the vets from Vets For Compassion
We would like to also thank our local produce stores who worked hard to always have what we needed.
Newrybar Produce & Saddlery
North Coast Stockfeeds
Kristen Bates-Taunton for all your efforts and supplies you went above and beyond helping supply everything we need which a lot came out of your own pocket.
Everyone who donated money, feed, and supplies, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and you are the back bone for getting these horses recovered and back to their owners that were affected by the floods.
Finally, to all the amazing people that volunteered their time along the way, The Bangalow Dream Team is something we will remember forever.
I know personally (Krystal) have made some new friendships that I will forever value.
Thank you again!
Mr Whip having a well deserved roll before his bath π
Look at these two beautiful boys having some time out of the stables today. π
Jack and Charlie were stuck in flood waters in south Ballina before their owners Cherie and Kaz got them over to the sand dunes to keep them safe.
They had to boat in daily to drop feed and water to their loved boys π
Look at them now! Shinny, healthy and happy ππ»
Evening everyone,
One of the horses we have in care, Dustin is unfortunately having a colic episode tonight.
The vets are given Dustin some pain relief and other medications to help him feel better.
At the moment, Lilly and her dad Sebastiaan are hanging out with Dustin till Megan from Vitality Vet comes back at 10:30pm to check on him. Some volunteers and Dr Nikita are coming back at 12:30am to give more medications.
Without the donations, passionate volunteers and vets volunteering their time we wouldnβt be able to do this.
Thank you to everyone that is helping.
Please keep Dustin in your thoughts tonight
We will update you tomorrow morning in the comments below.

All the horses that have been coming into Bangalow Temporary Equine Hospital have all been needing their feet either trimmed or shod because of the abscesses that they are developing from standing in flood water for a long period of time.
We wanted that say a big thank you to this awesome farrier David Kennedy from Dave Kennedy Equine Services for coming down and giving his time to help all these horses in care.

Paddy having a roll
This is Paddy enjoying his morning walk with volunteer Reilly.
This guy has turned a corner and is really starting to look shinny and put some weight on. His wounds are healing well and he is brighter.
This 23 year old gelding always puts a smile on all the volunteers faces.
How can you not fall in love with paddy.
Last night one of the horses that came in to care named Whinnie wasn't feeling the best so one of the amazing volunteers checked in about 12am to make sure she was going strong. Obviously now Whinnie loves Nathaly Rudd soo much that when she arrived in the morning to feed her she whinnied to Nathaly. This melts our hearts.
The flood affected rescue horses love dinner time.
Not only do they get doted on by all the volunteers, but they get to all go out on a walk around Bangalow Show Grounds to stretch their legs each afternoon before dinner π.
Happy horses

This morning we had two more flood affected mares come into care here at Bangalow Temporary Equine Field Hospital.
This mare is a sick girl so we will be working very hard this afternoon trying to her feeling a little better. We will have a few vets here soon π
A BIG thank you to Leah Vanewijk from LV Horsemanship for picking these two up ππͺπ
Today we had Melissa from Enhanced Equine Performance giving all the horses EMMETT therapy which is a non invasive muscle release.
They all loved it π
Thank you Melissa for all your help π

Dr Megan from Vitality Vetcare doing this mornings bandage change on Rion π
This is Rion, he's one of the horses that was stuck in flood waters up to his neck who has come into our care.
Rion is a much-loved thoroughbred gelding who is a little timid of new people but is a gentle soul. Unfortunately, Rion has now suffered from large wounds, rain scald and mud fever. Our vets are treating Rion twice daily πͺ
This heart-warming video is of Rion being taken out for a walk with Volunteers @RuthGotterson and @KashGibson.
