Meet Dr. Morag!

You may have come across her previously when she was filling in for Haydn while he was on holidays.

Morag is originally from Ireland but has been working as a vet in Melbourne for the last 12 years.

In her spare time she enjoys running around after her young family and sampling all the culinary delights Melbourne has to offer.

Morag is here 2 days a week and we are very excited to now have her onboard as a permanent member of our team!

Did you know we see Guinea Pigs too!

It’s important that your Guinea Pigs have a yearly health check just like your other pets.

This check up is important as they can be prone to dental disease, arthritis, respiratory infections, eye infections, reproductive disorders and nutritional deficiencies.

Desexing can be preventative measure for many diseases and we offer this too.

Feel free to call us on 8825 6025 and speak to Zoe, our Rabbit and Guinea Pig nurse to discuss your guinea pig’s health needs.

This sweet girl Maggie spent her 1st birthday with us last week to have patella luxation surgery.

Luxating patellas are common in toy breeds and can present as an intermittent skip and limp.

Dr Haydn surgically placed implants that prevent the knee cap (patella) from sliding out of place (luxating).

Maggie’s surgery went perfectly and she’s been recovering happily at home for the last week! 😊

Have you always wanted a pair of bunnies, or do you have a solo bunny looking for a friend?

3 of our 6 abandoned bunnies have found the perfect family.
These last three, as seen in the picture, are still looking for their forever homes.

We have 2 boys (black and brown) and 1 girl (black) who are looking for a safe, indoor home or mosquito proof outdoor home.

Please give us a call on 8825 6025 to have a chat about what it's like to care for rabbits and get all the information you need to give these little ones a good life.

Could you give a pair of these Rabbits a loving home? 🐰🏡

This little huddle were brought to Vets on Koornang after being abandoned in a local park over the weekend.

We are happy to say they are all healthy and happy! Now all they need is a loving home.

Bunnies do best in pairs, so we will prefer to send them off as little duos.

If you would love to take on a furry friend or two, please call us on 8825 6025 as soon as possible and we will book you in for a chat with a rabbit-savvy nurse to discuss how to set up your new family member for their new life.

What do I do if I find a baby possum and it’s parents are no where to be seen?

〰️ Take to your closest Vet practice. The Vet will assess the possum and provide any medical attention before contacting a Wildlife carer.
〰️ The possum can be transported in a box or item where it is dark and quiet. To keep the possum warm, you may wrap it in a soft blanket or place a hot water bottle into the box (with warm water from the tap, not boiling from the kettle)
〰️ We recommend you don’t attempt to give the possum anything to eat or drink, as you may be giving them food they wouldn’t usually eat

Our little native friends are nocturnal, so if you see them out during daylight hours, something is usually wrong!

Welcoming a new puppy into your home is an amazingly exciting time, but admit it, you're itching to take them for a walk down to your local park?

So, when is it safe to do so?

Our ethos is that the sooner we get your puppy vaccinated and out and about socializing, the happier they'll be - so we aim to complete their vaccination schedules much quicker than has traditionally been the case - or what has often been advised by the breeder.

Our advice?

As soon as you collect your new pup, give us a call with their first vaccination dates and details so we can book them in and get them protected so they can be out and about making new friends safely!
