The cutest most adorable registered miniature goats
Came across this old photo where we were comparing baby tummies and I wish I would get to see this again🥰 though poor Missy Boo will definitely not have babies again. It's been a hard winter, struggling to keep weight on her and even with the arrival of spring I haven't seen much improvement. Hang in there old girl. We'll get you back on your feet, so you can enjoy retirement.
Super happy with our new mineral stations😁 this new buffet set up allows the animals to eat the exact mineral(s) they need at any given time. This is inspired by the very knowledgeable Pat Coleby, who was an absolute champion animal health and farming without chemicals. I can't believe it has taken me this long to build these stations.
One step closer!! Not only a step closer to complete our Paddock Paradise track, combined with our Equicentral loafing area, but also finally getting some native grasses sown. All this allows our animals exercise, stimulation and high fibre/low sugar food.
Gotta love when you can exercise more than one animal at the time. Though I promise you I don't use an electric wire for lunging 😄
Love this photo as it shows how important it is to keep our 4 legged friends in a herd, plus it gives my youngsters some very invaluable life lessons in behaviour and respect, and yesterday the Icelandic herd grew to 6! They are not all ours, but I'm sure it's a sign of fun times to come❤
Have you ever tried starting the day with a plan, but the minute you activate it you realise you can throw that one out the window? Happened to me today😊 I'd only ridden a few steps in the arena when realising there was to be no dressage today. All tack came off and after a few rounds of running off some steam we had a really nice session on the ground.
Took this munchkin out for a refresher today. He's had 6 months off and will spend the next 3 weeks in light training, focussing on R+ and having fun. He was absolutely ace today😍

Luckily we have two of these wonders (honestly couldn't live without them). Both horses and dogs enjoy them immensely. Hmm I wonder why we have never tried them on the goats?
We're having some fun trying to work out which fur baby is the woolliest❤❤. We thought Sunshine would be a clear winner but Eisa is giving her a run for her money.

Sometimes life isn't perfect, sometimes we're not born complete, sometimes we're not in control, but we can always talk about things, learn and teach that things aren't always perfect.

One door closes and another opens right? Tonight's catch up with the accountant means we're now officially no longer goat breeders. All books signed off. It's been such a fun and enriching journey as well as we've met some amazing and inspiring people. The goats have by no means left our lives, some still roam around here and who knows one day we may return to breeding. For now though we'll just wait and see where the journey takes us😊
I can finally say all the girls are back home and a huge thanks to for looking after this special girl. She couldn't have been in better care and we're pleased to say she's once again in foal with the stunning Lotto von Svada-Kol-Kir.
Apparently it did get windy today. Came home to this. Luckily the paddock is resting so no animals in there.

In these busy times it's important to stop and acknowledge amazing people. The last weaning for the year has happened and I couldn't think of a better place for our darling Gáski to go and grow and learn and be in the best of hands. A huge thanks to Marlanoc Stud, who already has a special place in our hearts as our gorgeous Rivian, our miniature horse, comes from Marlanoc Stud. Happy hooning, playing and socialising Gáski.
Busy busy weekend with lots of joys, fun and learning, but some sadness too. Our last kids found their new forever home, we had Birgit Kossmann from Great Ocean Road Icelandic Horses staying for training. Amazing progress on both horses and a realisation that weaning will soon be on the program again.
These little troopers are home after a morning at childcare. So well behaved and happily eating out of all the kids' hands. A joy to watch different kids getting together. No photos from childcare will be published out of respect for the 2 legged kids and their parents.

Gosh I'm forgetting myself. This little darling was born Thursday night after I had left for a work trip. They know their timings this year! She's just devine.

The cuteness has started! The first one and only one this year, so no doubt a lot of time will be spend 'studying' this little handsome boy😉 Already so curious.
We've been involved with this amazing breed for some time now and this video is too good not to share.
The horses of Iceland are a so-called gaited horse breed. This means that most Icelandic horses have two extra gaits to offer besides walk, trot and canter/gallop. All horse breeds have these three natural gaits and can perform them without training. The extra gaits that set the Icelandic horse apart from other breeds are called tölt and flying pace.
We've just prepared a little video to show you just how these 5 gaits look like!

Breeding is an amazing privilege but also a responsibility to the land and nature. Today we were so fortunate to attend a workshop by Equiculture and The Equicentral System. So inspiring and informative. We can highly recommend it regardless of which animals you surround yourself with.
Hardly got to advertise little Miss Dapple, before she found herself a new beautiful home. I even saw her new boyfriend, one of Riverstone's gorgeous boys, so I'm sure she'll settle right in at the new stud. Can't wait to see her future babies. Miss you little darling❤❤❤

Hard to believe the summer is already behind us. Based on the weather alone you wouldn't think so. Moving into autumn we have decided that we will not breed again this year. So happy goating for the rest of 2017:-)
