This time of year, we have a lot of people enquiring about whether or not to allow their lizard, turtle or snake to brumate over the cooler months & how to do it. It is important to know the current health status of your pet beforehand. Do they have an excess number of intestinal parasites? What is their body condition like? Could they have some metabolic bone changes? There is no blanket answer! As we approach this colder time, it is ideal to get your animal thoroughly checked, so you can feel confident in how and what to do.

Not quite a photo of last night's full moon! Instead it is our view when we examine your pets faecal samples with the microscope. This was a sample from Bearded Dragon. We don't routinely worm many of our non dog/cat patients, as for many, some parasites are beneficial and aid digestion. In this instance, this lizard wasn't feeling her best and this was one of our findings that required treatment.

Parasites! We see them on all species. Sometimes it's as simple as picking them up in the environment, sometimes it is indicative of an underlying health issue & low immunity. If your pet is itchy, please give us a call and we can advise what to do.

If you, or someone you know are looking to adopt some Guinea Pigs, please support this rescue. Adoption day tomorrow!

ADOPTION DAY tomorrow Saturday 10th Feb. Greensborough/Bundoora area

Sorry for late notice. If anyone wishes to adopt some lovely piggies tomorrow morning, please pop over to our website and fill in the online adoption enquiry form australiancavysanctuary.org and send us some pics of your piggy cage/setup to [email protected].

If you have already applied in the past and still wish to adopt, please send us an email to [email protected] or [email protected] and I will do my utmost to get the enquiries processed tonight and send you the details on where and when to meet.

If I get swamped with requests and can't possibly wade through them all (unlikley LOL), I will arrange another adoption day in the next 1-2 weeks, or arrange a one-on-one adoption for you in your home.
