Today I’m going to drop the F Bomb!
That’s right, We’re talking about FLEAS
While dogs can carry fleas all year round, coming into spring is a particularly heightened time of year for flea issues.
Concerning the salon environment and fleas. I ask people, PLEASE, if you KNOW your dog has fleas, DO NOT BRING THEM IN!! A flea bath alone will not solve your problem. A flea bath will kill the live adult fleas that happen to be on your dog at that moment, but offers virtually no residual protection. As well as the fact that not all the fleas in your home environment are on your dog at the same time, so pretty much as soon as you get home, your dog will likely be re infested. Please if you know your dog has fleas, treat them with an approved flea treatment from your local vet or pet store. Don’t waste your money on a groomer to fix the problem, because we can’t!
In the event of me discovering a dog has fleas during a groom, I will flea bath them, as I need to kill the fleas to limit the chances of them escaping into my grooming shop. There is a surcharge for this service and it’s not optional. You WILL pay a ‘flea funeral’ surcharge. As stated above, this won’t solve your problem, but I need to do everything I can to stop it becoming my problem.
I flea bomb the entire grooming room and annex every 3 months to ensure in the event of fleas escaping into the area, they don’t last long.
I do everything I can to ensure no dog picks up a problem from the salon. Please respect myself and my other clients by treating any known flea issues BEFORE booking a groom.
