🐾🙌🙏Thank you to all our volunteers during National Volunteer Week🙏🙌🐾

Today is the start of National Volunteer Week, and we'd like to say thank you to all the volunteers that come together to make Spay It Forward available for concession card holders to have access to important veterinary care for their pets💛✨️

This weekend, we had vets, veterinary students, and one nurse travel from all over: Port Kennedy, around Perth, and the Wheatbelt to support a Spay Day hosted by Heartlands Veterinary Hospitals' Outreach Program. All these professionals donated their time to desex pets all day🙌

We had some amazing cats and kittens who got desexed and returned home for a happier, healthier life with their familes🐾🐾 We helped animals from Wooroloo, Kellerberrin, Kojonup, to name a few, and Perth.

Again, this all wouldn't have been possible without Heatlands' dedication to their community and all the dedicated professionals that donated their expertise. For this we say thanks again!

Have a wonderful National Volunteer Week!

🐾🐾💉DOG VACCINATION PROGRAM NOW REOPENED💉🎉🎉

Thanks to funding from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, we are able to offer subsidsed dog vaccines at our regional partnered veterinary practices🎉

❓️Which vets can help me vaccinate my dog?
Vaccines are available at
Sanford Veterinary Clinic
Pets and Vets WA - Collie
Pets and Vets WA - Harvey
Pets and Vets WA

❓️Why should I vaccinate my dog?
The goal of this program is to help protect your pet against Canine Parvovirus, the deadliest virus affecting dogs in Australia. One dog dies from parvo every 20 minutes, and half of all dogs that contract this disease die. This is completely preventable with a vaccine!

❓️How do I apply for help from Spay It Forward?
To find out more about Canine Parvovirus and submit your application, visit our webpage:

https://www.wapetproject.com.au/spay-it-forward/grants/animal-welfare-grant-round-3/

OR go straight to the application by clicking the link below:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SIFVacc

***If you need help completing the application, please call us to make a phone appointment. We can help! Call 04 2045 1987 or email [email protected].

❓️If my dog needs a booster vaccine, does the program help?
Yes! We will help your pet get to the vet because the vaccine needs to be up to date to protect your pet!

📣📣📣If you don't need this service but know a friend or family member who does, please tag or share our post. If you live in Geraldton, Collie, Harvey, or Narrogin, share our post with your local groups. Please help us spread the word about how we can help prevent deaths from Canine Parvovirus in WA.

🐾🫶Pet Food Assistance on Point with SIF and Street Aid Social Project's Pet Pantry🫶🐾

In the first month since we updated our forms to see if families that were struggling to afford desexing were also struggling to afford food, Spay It Forward has seen a significant rise from a couple food requests a month to a total of 29 in January 2024! 🐕🐈

To support these families in need, we were introduced to Street Aid Social Project who run their own Pet Pantry. With Street Aid's local support, we are reaching out to every family to provide relief. Street Aid is assisting in addition to helping over 100 OTHER families in Perth, so we couldn't be more thankful for their big hearts and open arms 💛🙌

Street Aid has a mission to make a positive impact by providing essential resources for both humans and their pets, so please send them back the love and support that they've shown us and like and follow their socials.

🌐Check out their website too: www.streetaid.social

*** Food banks play a crucial role in fostering both mental and physical well-being. They not only provide sustenance but also alleviate the stress of struggling with the cost of living. Let's spread love and compassion by making sure no pet goes hungry. 💛💛🐾🫶

🐾✂️Spay Day #7 was Another Huge Success✂️🐾

The Spay It Forward Team was out in the Wheatbelt again this past weekend with the fantastic team at Heartlands Veterinary Hospitals in York to spend the day desexing and microchipping cats and dogs.

This Spay Day saw some serious kilometers travelled helping pets and their families in Wongan Hills, Brookton, Wundowie, and York.

Everyone who attended volunteered their time, which includes our team of vets, vet nurses, and vet students.🌟 We saw guest vets travel from as far as Port Kennedy to support our cause, and we couldn't be more thankful! Vet students attended and even transported pets from Perth's southeast! This is not only a fantastic way to help the Wheatbelt community, but Spay Days help students perfect their surgical skills with an expert surgical team🙌✔️

If you're a family in a remote country location, please reach out to us, we might be able to help at a vet location near you!🌾

If you can not transport your pet to the vet, we can help with that, too! Don't let that stop you from getting desexing and microchipping help for your pet!🚕

Please fill out our application today by visiting: www.wapetproject.com.au/spay-it-forward/

🐾📣📣MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT📣📣🐾

ACCESS TO LOW-COST NON-URGENT VET CARE AVAILABLE TO CONCESSION CARD HOLDERS

For the past six years, the Spay It Forward program has focused on providing WA concession card holders with access to desexing and microchipping for companion animals. Now, we have a pilot project to explore if we can help people and their pets with non-urgent care.

We are so grateful to have partnered with Veterinary and Community Care to help make vet care more accessible to struggling families in the Perth metro and surrounds. Without VaCC, this wouldn't be possible! 🌟

❓️WHAT IS NON-URGENT?

☑️ Lumps and bumps you're worried about
☑️ Does your pet have dental issues?
☑️ Has your cat got a cat-fight abscess?
☑️ Does your pet have smelly or mucky ears?

We can help with so much more! Please just let us know what is worrying you and what the issue is🙏

❓️DO I QUALIFY?
We'd love to help you and your pet, but to access our financial assistance, you must

1. Be over 18 years of age,
2. Be a WA resident,
3. Be a concession card holder, and
4. Be experiencing SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL hardship

❓️HOW DO I APPLY TO GET HELP?

Please fill out our online application here to tell us about you, your pet, and why you need to see the vet:

OUR FORM: https://forms.gle/o5dSm48VLV5UAgcp6

❓️WHAT IS A PILOT PROJECT?
We aim to offer non-urgent veterinary care visits, BUT there needs to be a significant need before sending anyone to the vet.

Meaning, that the more applications we get = the more likely we can run this program on an ongoing basis.

SO,

🙏Please SHARE THIS POST with friends, family, in your community groups, your free buy and sell groups, the groups for the homeless, and wherever you know families and their pets are doing it tough.
🙏Please TAG anyone you know that you could benefit even the tiniest bit!
🙏If you are a veterinary professional, please TALK TO YOUR HOSPITAL about Spay It Forward, or reach out to VaCC at contact.vacc.charity. If you're a community-minded practice, please let your staff know that we exist and we want to help your clients! If you want to join the SIF team of partnered vets, please email [email protected].
🙏If you're a community group that helps vulnerable families with pets, please REACH OUT and find out how we can collaborate to support that human-animal bond and improve the lives of people and their pets! Email [email protected].

🐾🎉Welcome, 2024🎉🐾

The Spay It Forward Team wishes everyone a Happy New Year💛

We start this year having issued over 1,500 vouchers, meaning 1,500 pets have been desexed and microchipped in WA through our program🌟🐾 This past year has been our biggest year to date supporting approximately 530 pets alone!

This wouldn't have been possible without the enormous financial support from Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development in WA. For that, we send a huge thanks and an acknowledgment🙏

Please watch this space throughout January as we have even more incredible news to announce as well as our next big projects to launch in 2024!

Enjoy the time with your friends, family, and pets for the rest of the holidays😊🎉🐕🐈

Amazing initiative from the City of Stirling!

❓️Did you know there is a law in WA that states, every cat over 6 months old must be desexed, microchipped and registered with your local council? It's called the Cat Act, 2011.

❗️This is why Spay It Forward desexes and microchips (if needed) every animal that is successful in entering our program.

❗️Once your pet so home post surgery, please make a plan to register your cat or dog. Most councils will allow you to do this online. If you need help or guidance, please contact us so we can assist with this crucial part of pet ownership.

Kudos to our veterinary partner, Heartlands Veterinary Hospital, and Dr. Tracey for envisioning this project, and the rest of the team at Heartlands for backing it to provide the best animal welfare for the Brookton and Pingelly communities. Special thanks to the Shire of Brookton for being our trailblazing partner, making history as the first Shire in WA to collaborate with the Spay It Forward program for essential animal welfare and community safety outcomes. 🙏

Residents of Brookton and Pingelly, watch this space for more program details in the coming months.
