Meet Noodles, a little foster kitty from Perth Animal Rescue. Noodles is a cuddly little boy born on 12/12/23 who loves a pat and playing with toys! He is desperately looking for a forever home. Homeward bound! Now we are just playing the waiting game. Took out a second mortgage so we could buy something to eat and drink. See you all in 9 hours or so....
Day 20 - our last full day in NZ. We had another adventure filled morning, exploring the glow worm caves, floating through the caverns on inner tubes 😁 This afternoon we packed, cleaned the van and tidied up some last minute stuff. We are all feeling a little bit flat, so we decided to check out a local bar and grill for dinner.
Day 18 and 19 - joint post 😁 We are almost at the end of our holiday, so the last couple of days have been travel days only. Yesterday was a big drive to Picton to hop on the ferry back to the North Island. When we got to Wellington, they were unable to dock straight away, so we spent nearly two hours cruising the harbour before we could finally get off. It was nearly 8pm when we camped up, and we were all exhausted, so we made a quick dinner and went straight to bed! Today was a long drive up to Waitomo, through some very rainy foggy weather! We have one more adventure day tomorrow, exploring the glow worm caves, before we make our way back to Auckland for the flight home 😁

Day 17! The weather was perfect for a helicopter ride up to Glacier country! We saw two glaciers, Fox and Franz Joseph, and got to land in the snow on top of a mountain. Then a drive to sleepy little Reefton. We stopped to do a treetop walk through the beautiful temperate rainforest. Camp is next to a gorgeous little river, and I couldn't resist taking a quick dip 😁
Day 16! Drove from Queenstown to Franz Joseph. Some spectacular scenery on the way. This afternoon we visited a little wildlife park and saw Kiwis for the first time, as well as Tuatara lizards. Found a cute quirky little campground called The Orange Sheep 😁
Today we went on a lake cruise on the TSS Ernslaw, a gorgeous 100 year old steamer ship. We visited Walter Peak farm, and got to see some friendly animals, a sheep shearing demonstration, and a working sheepdog. The rain has come in this afternoon. Tomorrow we will be heading up the west coast to see some glaciers 😊
Day 14 began with an adrenalin filled canyon swing! Caitlyn won the prize for most terrified face, but she must have enjoyed it because she went back for a solo swing! Afterwards we enjoyed some street food on Queenstown wharf, then we visited the minus 5 ice Bar - sipping cocktails from ice glasses was pretty cool 😊
Day 13 was a driving day - from Glentanner to Queenstown. Some spectacular scenery on the way. A highlight was getting stuck behind a travelling house - it was impressive watching him navigate the mountain roads! Staying at a very fancy holiday park on the banks of the river. Decided to check out the local watering hole for dinner and a couple of wines 😁
Day 12 - started of a little bit wet, but we decided to brave the Ho**er Valley track at Mount Cook. The scenery was absolutely spectacular - the best so far I think! The walk ended at a lake with pieces of glacier floating in it. Weather cleared beautifully this afternoon, and we found a gorgeous little campground on the lakeside 😁
Day 11, a morning drive to the beautiful lake Tekapo. We climbed Mt John for a spectacular 360 degree view at the summit 😀
Day 10 saw us travelling down the West Coast towards Christchurch. Some spectacular scenery, and we got to see some fur seals close up. On to Lake Tekapo tomorrow! 😁

On day 9, we were blessed by the weather gods with a beautiful day kayaking on Pelorus River. Our friendly guide took us to one of The Hobbit filming sites, and down some rapids! This afternoon we stopped at a beautiful little campground, with a stream that had friendly eels to hand feed 😀

Update on Pretzel... just look how well he is doing on his leg! This is only 4 days post surgery 😊 In about 2 weeks we will x-ray him again, but at the moment everything is going brilliantly 😁
