Fun Facts on a Friday!

Do dogs love Bluey too?

There’s been a lot of buzz on social media in recent times about why our furry friends seem to enjoy watching!

An animal behaviorist recently shared insights, noting that dogs can see shades of grey, brown, yellow, and blue, which aligns with Bluey’s color palette. The combination of these colors and the realistic dog sounds makes it a captivating show for them! 🐶💙

🎃 Halloween Pet Safety Reminder: Watch Out with Costumes! 🐾

Halloween is around the corner, and while dressing up your pets in adorable costumes can be tempting, safety should come first! 🧡

Not all pets enjoy being dressed up, and costumes can pose hazards if not carefully selected.
Here are some tips to keep your furry friends safe and comfortable:

👻Check for Fit: Costumes should be loose enough for comfort but snug enough that your pet can’t wriggle out and trip. Make sure it doesn’t obstruct vision, breathing, or movement.

👻Watch for Small Parts: Avoid costumes with small or dangling accessories that could be chewed or swallowed. Pets can easily mistake these for toys, and they can become choking hazards!

👻Be Mindful of Materials: Choose lightweight, breathable fabrics to avoid overheating. Avoid anything with glitter or synthetic materials that can cause irritation.

👻Supervise Costume Time: Always supervise your pet while they’re in costume. They may try to scratch or bite at it, which can lead to accidents or ingestion of pieces they tear off.

👻Reflective Gear for Outdoor Safety: If you plan to take your pet trick-or-treating, add reflective gear to make them visible to cars and others in the dark.

👻Respect Their Comfort: Not every pet likes dressing up! If your pet seems stressed or uncomfortable, consider a festive bandana or collar instead.

Let’s make this Halloween safe and fun for everyone, including our beloved pets! 🐶🐱🧡 Share your pics of your safely-costumed pets with us! 🎃

☀️ A Reminder from the Caryn Vet Team: Keep Pets Safe in the Heat!

With high temperatures hitting this week, please avoid walking your dogs during the heat of the day.

Even early morning and late evening can be warm, so remember to check the footpath—if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!

Heatstroke is a serious risk, so let’s keep our furry friends safe and comfortable when the temps rise. Thank you for caring for your pets, and let’s all get through this Spring Heat Wave safely! 🐾

🌸 Spring Allergies and Your Dog 🌸

Here are some common signs your dog might be suffering from spring allergies:

❗Excessive Scratching – Pollen, dust, and grass can irritate your dog’s skin, leading to itchiness.

❗Watery or Red Eyes – Allergens can also cause eye irritation.

❗Frequent Licking or Chewing Paws – Dogs tend to lick their paws when pollen or grass gets trapped between their toes.

❗Sneezing & Runny Nose – Just like humans, dogs can sneeze and have a runny nose when exposed to allergens.

💡 What can you do to help?

✅Wipe your dog’s paws after walks to remove pollen.
✅Regularly bathe your dog to soothe itchy skin and remove allergens.
✅Wash bedding and vacuum often to reduce pollen inside the house.
✅Consult the Caryn Vet Team for allergy treatments or special diets to help manage symptoms.

Enjoy the season but keep an eye out for allergy signs! If your dog shows any of these symptoms, don't hesitate to reach out to us. 🌸🐕💚

Spring is here, and it’s time to enjoy the longer days, blooming flowers, and outdoor adventures with your furry mates.

Here’s how to make the most of this beautiful season while keeping your pets safe and sound:

🐾 Pollen Patrol: With all the wattle and wildflowers blooming, pollen is in the air, and your pets might feel the itch! If your fur baby seems extra sneezy or itchy, they could be dealing with spring allergies. A visit to the vet can help ease those symptoms.

🐕 Aussie Adventures: Spring is perfect for exploring the bush or hitting the beach, but don’t forget to check your pet’s collar and tags before heading out. If they decide to chase a kookaburra or kangaroo, you’ll want to make sure they’re easily identifiable!

🌱 Garden Grazing: Is your pet a curious snacker? Many common Aussie plants, like oleander and kangaroo paw, can be toxic to pets. Keep an eye on your green-thumbed fur babies to ensure they don’t nibble on anything that could make them crook.

🦟 Mozzie Madness: Warmer weather means more bugs, especially ticks and mozzies. Protect your pets from these pesky critters with regular flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives.

🌞 Sun Safety: With all that spring sunshine, be mindful of how much heat your pets are exposed to. Always provide plenty of water and shade during outdoor adventures, especially on those warmer days.

Let’s celebrate spring in true Aussie style with wagging tails and purring pals! If you need tips on keeping your pets safe this season, our team is here to help. 🌷🐶🐱
