Snowy Zone Championships 2024
Report from our roving reporter and film maker Poppy K!!!!
This weekend the team packed all their winter woolies and rain jackets to head up to local ride Tumburumba. We took 4x100/80km horses and 3x 40km. We were blessed with beautiful weather on Saturday but at about 8pm the heavens opended up and we were holding onto anything that flaps ! Sunday started off chilly but the sun eventually turned up and gave us a beautiful day !
Team Oso managed to score the Cob and Co teams event in the 100km. With a great international team including British, Irish, French and Aussie riders + crew!!
100km
I partnered back up with Oso Dizzy for a steady 100km completion. This was bushpigs first ride back for the season and she managed herself and looked after herself perfectly. We placed 1st Junior in 9hr 8min.
Oso Eli was piloted perfectly around by Dorothy Doohan. Dot is an Irish rider who lives in the UAE and competes there. She said it’s very different to Middle East Endurance! Trotting up and down mountains is a lot different . However they kicked his first ride out of novice into touch placing 2nd Lightweight in a perfect time of 8hr and 59min.
Next up was our Queen Oso Engima who after a little break from endurance came back bigger and bolder carrying over 100kg for the first time. Jamie did an impressive job riding and running all day.Engima doesn’t enjoy hills to much but she ATE them today! They managed to score 2nd Heavyweight well done you two and thank you for once again hanging out with Diz and I.
80km
Clea and Oso Executive aka Eric completed the 80km. Eric is now a yellow booked endurance pony and my oh my he is just like his mum. He led the way and powered up the hills. You two have a very special bond 🫶
40km
First up was Lily Wallis riding Oso Connorsieur. This was Lilys first EVER endurance ride and I think it is far to say we have given her the bug. Connor was such a little gentleman for her and thank you L
