Only way to beat the heat is doing early morning or evening sessions, so took some of my clients on an early morning trail ride today, & have a group joining me this evening on another! Praying for rain over here! She’s very crispy! 🌧️

The last 2 nights we did something different for our lessons, so we cooled off our horses with a sponge bath! I’m sure the horses loved all the pampering & the cold water!

I love the fact that so many clients were interested in learning a different side of owning & spending time with our horses. ❤️

Spending time with my 4 legged equine partners brings me peace!

Hope everyone is finding ways to enjoy this heat, but can I request some rain dances, so the pastures continue to grow 🌧️

Look how cute these are, so I decided that I wanted to make a memorial wall of all the horses I will have had in my life that have crossed over the bridge. So I’ve been collecting my horse hair for the last 2 years since owning the business and decided it was time to make something out of them. So huge shout out to “horsehair creations by Karen” these are beautiful ❤️

Little late but on Wednesday we had our first 2 groups of lessons get to play in the outdoor arena for the first time this year! I think we were all excited for a change in scenery, looking forward for more evening like this ❤️

Searching for 1-2 free lease horses, to bring onto our property, to be used for lesson horses, I run a western riding lesson program, horses get the basic foot care, chiropractic/massage if horses need, we get their teeth done yearly. (I take care of them like they are my own, opportunity to purchase in the long term if owners are interested to selling, or possibly a payment plan, I just don’t have the funds to purchase horses up front currently)

I’m looking for horses that would be safe for beginners to intermediate( more in need of the intermediate level horse, with the ability trot, lope) we do lots of in the arena lessons, & we do also do trail rides so would be great if the horses was good in both area)

I have a few other lease horses, if anyone wants to talk to my owners for a referral let me know!

With the upcoming weather forecasted for Monday we will be postponing our start date to March 4th same time 6:00-7:30 I still have 2 spots available!

So as the weather seems to be holding a steady pattern of mild weather, I have decided to start offering up some lessons again.

So starting on Feb 26th 6:00-7:30 pm

I am opening up a slot for 4 students, to participate in our beginner horsemanship series.
It will be 4 weeks on every Monday, going through the stages of learning our basic grooming, and handing, as well as a ground work intro, learning how to saddle your horses, and we will get to ride as well.

This program is set up to help those of you who may have had a few rides on a horse already but want to learn a little deeper or solely for the first timers wanting to begin.

I am horrible for taking photos. I usually live in the moment, but here was most of our participant’s yesterday.

We decided to do a beginner horsemanship clinic for our boarders, and I was very happy with all the interest from the clinics, and the things that we all got learned, a lovely afternoon or learning and enjoying our horses.

Dad doesn’t have Facebook but sending a shout out to him & all the help he’s been to us and our critters. He got the 4:00am wake up call about our lack of heat in the house during the cold snap.

He’s over here weekly to feed the horses on our regular feeding schedule, but he also came an extra day to feed them some more before the cold snap!

Our renters have been having furnace trouble so he’s been over to help diagnose the problem & help us order parts!

He’s over here tonight to plow all this lovely snow we have gotten in the last few days 🙌🏻 & the horses requested another bale to tie them over to their weekly feeding day, so everyone got an extra bale tonight while he was over plowing.

I can definitely say it’s handy to have him close by to give us a helping hand in a time of need.

So here’s a little appreciation post! As we drive into a nicely plowed facility we can thank the tractor driver for all his hard working hours, to make it easier on all of us! ❤️

I kinda laughed at this 🤣 I said this same thing to my dad yesterday morning. You know -30 is not horrible without the wind. Although a big -36 with wind chill last night had me doing the chicken dance to stay warm doing chores.

But very blessed to have a warm house & a herd of horses who are tougher than nails! Only a couple more days to go & we are back to a comfortable Alberta winter! Hang in there everyone. ☃️

As we begin to prepare for our final day in 2023 I sit and think back the the amazing year we have had!
•We started off in January with SJS Horse training and sales continuing to work out of our facility! She started in Nov of 2022 & left us in September 2023, was a very neat experience having our first trainer work out of the facilty, I can say it was successful for both of our businesses we learned and have grown so much since!

• In April we welcomed in Sunwest Equine Services we took on some of their boarders, as well some new lesson horses, and lesson students! It was an amazing opportunity & I will be forever greatful for the people who have I trusted me to give their clients a new home.

•We hosted 2 private fun shows for our boarders and lessons students, I love seeing the lesson kids show off all that skills we have been working so hard to put together & take home some ribbons as a reward for all of their efforts, sure helps build their confidence as well!

• We also got to rent out our facilities to the mule and donkey club for a weekend clinic and show!

• we had lots of new lesson students join us this year & enjoyed many summer camps included weekly groups brought to us by Camp Warwa with their equine program!

• we also improved our property by building a new driveway, as well as put in new tie rails by the arena & upgraded multiple fence lines.

As I sit a write down the big exciting things we have done this year, I relive the year we have had and their are also so many small moments that’s add in to our big moments!

We are looking forward to all the new opportunities that will come with the new year, & the new goals we plan to achieve! Thank you to all of those who continue to support us! We truly appreciate it! ❤️

Little Nero had his first saddling today & he rocked it! We have spent this month creating confidence & it sure paid off today! The poor guy was scared of his shadow when we started together! Proud of the little guy ❤️ he will be for sale in the spring.

Also shout out to Abby Blume for breeding some smart babies. This 2 year old will be for sale in the next month or so!

Also we are definitely both enjoying this beautiful sunny December afternoon 🌞

Hey friends, I’m curious if anybody has a western saddle with a gullet size of a 7.5 inch, I’m looking for a new saddle and so far I’ve tried to 7 inch gullet and it was close to being the right size but I would like to try something a little bit bigger but it’s really hard to find that size of gullet. I’m just curious if anybody has any type of western saddle kicking around with that size of gullet that I could just size on my mare so that I know if I need to continue looking for that size of saddle or not let me know if anybody has anything it would be willing to help a girl out.

Hey everyone, my cabin is back on the market and looking for a new renter, it should be available and move in ready for Jan 1st.

I don’t currently have updated photos, but after the cabin is cleaned out it will be available for viewing & will be able to get picture as well.

Comes with fridge, microwave, stove, washer and drier, 1 bedroom & bath, I have a kitchen table that will be left, & a dresser. (Can be left in the cabin or removed for your own furniture)

Pets are welcome, along discussion and approvals as I have my own dogs and would need to make sure they get along- horse board is available as well.

Will be looking for a responsible & respectful tendent as you are living on the property of a equine business, and have to be aware & flexible to the clients coming and going.

It’s time to get our clothing order started, so we are going to do the some hoodies as last year, logo will be on the front left chest & the full back, & you can get your name on the sleeve if you’d like. I need 25 hoodies to make the order go through.

I found a jacket from Costco to do embroidery on we will just be doing the embroidery on the front left chest.

So if your interested in some apparel let me know size & colour of hoodies you’d like with or without a name. Once i get all orders placed & i can confirm I have the full order I will collect the funds.

A day well spent! Day started with a rainy walk to catch horses for the farrier & massage/Chiro appointments! Then the sun started to shine & we moved our personal horses across the road to what hopes to be their summer grazing pasture!

To follow up with teaching our Thursday lesson & prepping the kiddos for the Saturday fun show! & to end it off I took two of my clients wonderful geldings out for a trail ride with some friends!

Today was a productive & wonderful day! 👏
