Community Health Update: Kennel Cough (Bordetella)

Our clinic has seen a noticeable increase in kennel cough cases, with four confirmed this week alone. Kennel cough is a highly contagious respiratory illness that spreads easily in environments where dogs come into close contact with one another.

Vaccination is an important preventive measure, particularly for dogs who visit high-traffic locations such as boarding facilities, grooming salons, dog parks, training classes, or daycare. While no vaccine can guarantee complete protection, it significantly reduces the risk and severity of illness.

We encourage all dog owners to review their pet’s vaccination status and consider updating their Bordetella vaccine if it is overdue or not currently part of their pet’s routine care.

If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please contact the clinic. Keeping our community’s pets healthy is our top priority! 🦊

❄️ Hello December! Snow Is Here — But Fleas & Ticks Haven’t Gone Anywhere ❄️

As winter arrives and the first snow begins to fall, it’s easy to assume that fleas and ticks are no longer a concern. Unfortunately, these pests don’t take the season off — and neither should your pet’s prevention.

✔️ Fleas can survive indoors year-round, thriving in the warm environments of homes, garages, and even cozy bedding
✔️ Ticks remain active anytime temperatures rise above 4 degrees celcuis!

That means our pets can continue to be at risk for:
• Lyme disease
• Anaplasmosis
• Flea infestations
• Skin irritation and allergies

Keeping your pet on consistent, year-round prevention is the best way to protect them. Even missing a month can leave a window for parasites to return.

If you’re unsure which prevention is right for your pet—or need a refill—our team at Foxboro Veterinary Hospital is here to help. Give us a call or stop by so we can make sure your pets stay healthy and comfortable all winter long.

Stay warm, stay safe, and give your furry friends an extra cuddle this season! 🐾❄️

Today, we pause in gratitude and reflection. On this Remembrance Day, we honour the brave men and women who have served—and continue to serve—our country with courage, sacrifice, and love.

We also remember the loyal animals who stood beside them, offering comfort, protection, and unwavering companionship in even the hardest moments. Their quiet bravery reminds us every day of the deep bond we share with the animals in our lives.

From all of us at Foxboro Veterinary Hospital, thank you to those who have given so much for the freedoms we enjoy today.

🐾 November is National Senior Pet Month! 🐾

Our furry friends age faster than we do, and as they grow older, their health needs change. Regular wellness exams and bloodwork are key to keeping your senior pet happy and comfortable for years to come. 💕

🩺 Why it matters:
• Early detection of age-related issues such as kidney, liver, or thyroid disease
• Better management of arthritis, dental disease, and weight changes
• Tailored care plans to keep your pet active and feeling their best

If your dog or cat is 7 years or older, it’s the perfect time to schedule a senior wellness check-up. Small changes can make a big difference in their quality of life!

📞 Call us today to book your pet’s appointment and give them the care they deserve in their golden years! 🌟
