Another Tiktok trend adapted for veterinary medicine - an ASMR video!

(For those of you who have no idea what that is, like Paulette, it stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. And apparently it's listening to noises that people find satisfying). 😅

Why should pets NOT be given as a present?

An animal is a living, sentient creature with its own needs, which will vary from species to species as well as breed to breed. A new owner must make a long-term commitment to meet those needs for the whole lifetime of the animal - which could be 10 - 20 years!

Not to mention, the holidays can be stressful for pets, especially if there are parties, decorations, and food around. New pets often need training and socialization, which can be difficult to do during the holidays.

The ASPCA recommends the giving of pets as gifts only to people who have expressed a sustained interest in owning one, and the ability to care for it responsibly.

❗️IMPORTANT DATES❗️ - for food and medication orders! PLACE ORDERS NOW!

In order for our distributers to be able to fulfill holiday orders before we close for Christmas, we must place our last order by NOON on December 17th.

We will not be placing another order until January 6th at NOON. (These orders should be in clinic by the next day, unless they are specially compounded.)

When you place an order for food or meds, please ensure that you have enough to get you through the entire holiday period.

We will be closed from December 21st - January 1st. We will reopen at 8 am on January 2nd.

Happy Holidays!

Will you be traveling with your pet over the holidays? Here are some helpful tips to make the trip a smooth one:
🐾 Choose a pet friendly destination and accommodations
🐾 Make sure your pet is healthy for travel and you have enough of their medication to take with you. Consider a vet visit before you go
🐾 Make sure you pack all of THEIR necessities - food, bed, toys, proof of vaccines, meds, carrier/crate, litterbox or p**p bags, leash, collar, etc
🐾 Make sure they will be comfortable for the trip. It can be helpful to practice ahead of time.
🐾 Plan for potty breaks
🐾 Check with airlines for their specific requirements
🐾 If traveling to another country, be sure to check their requirements. Eg. USA requires microchips and current Rabies vaccine
🐾 If they don't enjoy traveling, consider calming medications to help ease their anxiety - speak to your vet. Or, consider an alternative to taking them with you

Will you be boarding your pet over the holidays? Here are few things to keep in mind:

Each facility will set their own requirements as to what they require for vaccinations and flea/tick prevention. Check with yours to be sure your pet is ready.

It will take your pet up to 10 days to build adequate immunity to a newly given vaccine. Make sure you don't wait until the last minute to have them updated before boarding.

Be sure to pack all of their essentials to make the transition as easy on them as possible. Send their own food and treats, something that smells like home (eg. toys or bed), and any medications they need.

Happy Holidays!

It's National Peanut Butter Lovers Month!

Our pets often LOVE peanut butter as much as we do. However, it's important to ensure that it does NOT contain XYLITOL as it is TOXIC to cats and dogs!

Xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol found in plants, including many fruits and vegetables. It has a sweet taste and is often used as a sugar substitute. Unfortunately, it is toxic to our beloved pets. Please check the label before offering it as a treat to your pet.

*Remember to limit the amount of "safe" peanut butter you feed as it is high in fat and calories.*
