Would you recognize the signs of pain in a cat?
Cats are great at hiding their pain, and so sometimes the signs can be subtle.
Here are some to watch for:
* Facial changes as shown below.
* They aren't grooming as much or not at all.
* They sit or lie in a hunched position.
* They may hide more or engage less.
* Reduced appetite.
* Sleeping more or less.
* They may have accidents outside the litterbox.
* They may be vocal, meowing more.
* They may hiss or growl more than usual.
* They may be more needy and purr more.

This cage is ready for a cat patient. It probably doesn't look all that special, but a lot of thought has gone into how it is prepared.

Rather than just plop a cat into an empty cage while it waits for it's procedure, we have given them a litterbox and water. We have also given them a place to hide so that they don't feel so exposed. The towels have been sprayed with Feliway, which is a happy pheromone for cats to help make them feel less stressed.
We have done all of these things to help make the cat comfortable, but also to make their stay more "Fear Free".

Rest assured, that when your pet has to stay with us, we try our very best to ensure both their comfort and wellbeing!

Have you exercised your dog's MIND today?

Making mealtime fun, challenging and interactive is a great way to satisfy your dog’s innate instincts and curiosities. Every meal is an opportunity for enrichment, and food puzzles are a great way to slow down your dog’s eating and provide mental stimulation.

Snuffle matts are a great example! At mealtime, hide their kibble throughout the matt.

NOTE: do not leave your pet unattended with the snuffle matt.

Did you know that antifreeze is toxic to cats, dogs, and people if ingested?

If you suspect that your pet may have ingested ANY, call your vet immediately!

Never drain antifreeze into the street, be careful to wipe up any spills, and store antifreeze in tightly closed containers far out of the reach of pets (and children). There is no antifreeze product available that is truly safe.
