Feeding wildlife might seem like a good idea, but is it? 🤔 When you feed wild animals, you may harm the animals you intend to help! How?
⚠️ Human-sourced food may lack the nutrients wild animals need which can lead to malnutrition, bone deformation, and even death.
⚠️ When people feed wildlife, wild animals may become habituated, increasing the chances of negative human-wildlife encounters.
Learn why wildlife feeding is not a good idea!

Feeding wildlife might seem like a way to help animals. However, you may inadvertently attract unwanted rodents, or harm the animals you intended to help...

⚠️ There is a connection between rodent activity and wildlife feeding. When you provide food for wild animals, you attract non-target species, like mice and rats, who may seek shelter in your home or on your property.

Are you looking for ways to support vulnerable animals in a meaningful way? The BC SPCA has specific animals that you can help directly. Read all about them and get updates. At the BC SPCA West Kootenay right now we have Prince. He has been living on his own for a least a year but was found in rough shape. He needed dental work, eye surgery and had a terrible sinus infection. He is on the mend now but there are medical costs to cover. Your donations will help us with his care so we can help more that need it. https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmedical.spca.bc.ca%2Fparticipant%2F2950417%2F2500%2F&data=05%7C02%7Cdjackman%40spca.bc.ca%7Ce11a7dfbd7214f70eb2a08dcb7375a89%7C4f058dcd4a46457a8c172f43c16b5767%7C0%7C0%7C638586695577006621%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=5FfUqdE033F0FlDFc5YruGP5fLEt5Zy%2BaYG5j60%2F%2F0U%3D&reserved=0
