HELP WANTED!!! SILVER CREEK FARM IS HIRING:
General Farm Labourer and Grounds Keeper
May 15th Start Date
35 Hours per week for 16 consecutive weeks. $14.50 per/hr.
Tuesday to Saturday work week (negotiable). Must have transportation to and from the farm daily. Preference for someone with a driver’s license that has experience operating a brush saw, chainsaw and other equipment/tools. Less qualified will be considered. Must be between 15 and 30 years old as per Canada Summer Jobs criteria.
Duties Include:
Care of livestock including the feeding and watering livestock (cattle, pigs, horses, and chickens) Administering minerals, vitamins, supplements and or medications to livestock. Cleaning barns, stalls, pens, shelters of livestock by removing manure and adding bedding. General livestock health care including grooming where appropriate. Feed storage and maintenance including loading barns and feed silos with livestock feeds including grains and hay. Conducting inventory of feed and supplements. Conducting pest control where required. Penning and loading livestock onto trailers and assisting in the delivery of livestock to local abattoir or other farm locations.
Gardens and farm property maintenance including establishing, planting, and maintaining garden beds for both vegetable and perennial flower beds. Planting trees for windbreaks and erosion control. Lawn and ornamental garden maintenance. Painting fences. Operating brush saw & chain saws to clean fence lines and pasture management. Heavy lifting required.
Occasional (rain-day) computer work for completing inventory, scanning, filling out task lists and entering farm receipts into spreadsheets.
