Love this video of our 2021 homebred filly, Stella ("Interstellar RGS" - Lestat/Indoctro) looking super with just a handful of rides under her owner, Kelsy Smith of Washington. π₯°
Well done to Avery Brennan for another successful event with our young mare, Scheherazade RGS ("Zeta", Sir Gregory-Arista GS by Heling) at Bronte Creek this past weekend!
Avery and Zeta jumped double clean stadium and cross country to finish 4th, on their dressage score, in the Open EV90! Zeta is starting to look like a real eventer ππ₯°
Excellent first outing of the season for Avery Brennan and our 2019 Oldenburg mare, Zeta ("Scheherazade RGS" - Sir Gregory/Heling) at the Caledon Horse Trials.
First time stepping up to Pretraining (EV90) and only Zeta's second event. They did a super dressage (68.5%) and produced solid jumping rounds, and would have won if they hadn't missed a fence on cross country! π
Avery is doing a great job producing Zeta, who seems to be getting the hang of this eventing gig. We're looking forward to what this pair will accomplish this season! π
Fibonacci RGS ("Newton")
A very tall, leggy German Oldenburg colt born near midnight May 7th.
Ferdeaux X Shephora ("Flora" - Shakespeare RSF/Gold Luck/Donnerhall).
We recently learned that he will be our only foal for this year as our Bugatti mare, Bohème lost her Wynton pregnancy sometime this winter.
Video here from day 3. Newton and Flora are both feeling great stretching their legs in the new arena! π
It was such a thrill to sit on Hades yesterday ("Vesuvio RGS" 2019 Hanoverian gelding, Valentino/Federweisser). He has just finished up 3 months of training with Matt and Leah Kidney who have done a fantastic job, as always.
It never gets old to witness these early training milestones in our homebreds. π₯°
This young man has come a long way in his first 3 months under saddle - huge kudos to the Stonecrest Stables team. I'm so excited to bring him home and see how he progresses with the next stage of his training!
Baby Zeta jumps her first small jumps with fillers!
Scheherazade RGS (Sir Gregory/Heling, 2019 German Oldenburg mare) is looking super with Avery Brennan, while she is in training with O'Hanlon Eventing. Zeta is showing how brave and smart she is about tackling the baby fillers!
Can't wait to see Z and Avery jumping the "big" stuff in the future π
So impressed with how this little champ is coming along under Matt Kidney at Stonecrest Stables!
Vesuvio RGS ("Hades"), 2019 Hanoverian gelding (Valentino/Federweisser) is almost finished 2 months of training at Stonecrest, learning big kid things!
Matt and Leah Kidney are doing such a great job with him! π
Shephora ("Flora", Shakespeare RSF/Gold Luck) and her Diesel CF colt, Divine Comedy RGS (aka "Dante") had a great day at the German Oldenburg inspection at Rideauwood Farm.
Flora was placed in the main mare book and described as "a nice mare to breed from".
We managed to jazz Dante up enough to show his lovely trot, and he was given a Premium rating.
The best thing about this colt, though, is his incredible attitude. It helps that his mom is such a solid citizen, but both walked straight on the trailer coming and going (Dante's first trailer ride and first time off property), and Dante was a complete gentleman to lead and present. He spent most of his time napping in the stall and then turned it on when he needed to. This is probably the best behaved foal I've ever had at an inspection. π₯°
Thanks to Sue Koerfer for the help today, inspectors, Jens and Reiner, and to Rideauwood for hosting!
How is this for versatility!
Dani B. and Red Gate homebred, Dark Arts RGS (aka Ouija, or "Weege", to her friends) proving that warmbloods can do western gaming too!
Weege sure has her game face on! She is a pretty fancy little "cow pony" π
Weege is a 2017 Rhineland mare (Diamond Stud/Feiner Stern) who has been owned and produced by Danielle since a weanling. β€
A few days behind in my update, but Vesuvio RGS ("Hades" - 2019 Hanoverian gelding, Valentino/Federweisser) is looking super just over a month into his training with Matt and Leah Kidney at Stonecrest Stables! π
First canters and first hack in the books! β π
Vesuvio RGS ("Hades", 2019 Hanoverian gelding - Valentino/Federweisser) has also been off at boarding school!
He is looking super only two weeks into training with Matt and Leah Kidney of Stonecrest Stables, after being very lightly "backed" last fall with the help of Avery Brennan. This is one of Hades' first trots under saddle with Matt. Really looking forward to seeing this guy develop under saddle π€©
Zeta ("Scheherazade RGS", 2019 German Oldenburg mare, Sir Gregory/Heling/Malachit) is looking fantastic one month into her training with Selena O'Hanlon and only a few weeks under saddle.
Avery Brennan is in the tack and will be continuing to work with Zeta, under Selena's guidance, at the start of what will hopefully be a long term partnership for these two! Exciting things to come for this pair, and kudos to Selena and her team for putting such a great start on our young mare π₯°
Baby Bianca ("Capablanca RGS", Checkmate/Geronimo/Double Sonic xx) at a month old, out in the "big" field for the first time.
Someone remind her she's bred to be an eventer and not a dressage horse π
Four year old Zeta ("Scheherazade RGS" - GOV mare, Sir Gregory/Heling) is demonstrating what a good pupil she is in one of her first trots under saddle, in training with Selena O'Hanlon, with Anne-Marie Duarte in the tack.
Looking forward to seeing how Zeta develops as she progresses under saddle in Selena's program!
Baby #4 made her debut Tuesday am!
Last foal of the year for us and the only filly.
Capablanca RGS (aka "Bianca")
Sire is Checkmate and dam is Vanity Fair ("Havana", Geronimo/Double Sonic xx). Havana was our first homebred (17 years ago!) and is now owned by the Brennan family who are also the breeders and proud owners of this lovely filly.
Here she is on Day 4, already showing that fearless eventer personality and practicing her cross country gallop π
First zoomies for baby Roman!
Day 5, baby Roman ("Rubicon RGS" - Rubinio NRW/Conway II/Indoctro) has his first real turnout since the weather has been so miserable and the ground so wet. He is still learning to balance on those long legs but enjoyed a quick zoom!
Another Red Gate homebred looking super at only 60 days under saddle with owner, Elly Briand! π€©
Vigilante RGS (aka "Marvel"), 2019 Hanoverian gelding, Valentino/Indoctro
Mare show at South Lane Hanoverian inspection for In Flight RGS (Aliano/Rocadero/Loutano I) and Scheherazade RGS (Sir Gregory/Heling/Malachit)
We attended the Eastern Canadian Hanoverian inspection at Southlane Farm yesterday.
Both our young mares were accepted into the main Hanoverian studbook:
In Flight RGS ("Falcon" - 2016 Holsteiner mare, Aliano/Rocadero/Loutano I), and
Scheherazade RGS ("Zeta" - 2019 GOV mare, Sir Gregory/Heling/Malachit)
Falcon was complimented on her nice feminine type, topline, correct legs, and powerful trot (once we were able to jazz her up enough to show it! π).
I was of two minds as to whether to bring three year old Zeta because she is tall and still looks like a gangly baby and has a lot of developing to do, but the inspectors were still able to note strong conformational features including her correct legs and strong pasterns, good length of neck, and strong topline.
Both mares demonstrated excellent behaviour, and I'm particularly proud of Zeta who has never gone anywhere (other than her foal inspection), and really impressed me with her ability to take her first outing in stride. π₯°
Thank you to South Lane Farm for hosting, and to inspectors Maren Schlender, Inga Hamilton, and Ursula Hosking for the educational, supportive feedback! These things are always a team effort and we certainly couldn't have done it without the help of great friend, Sue Koerfer!
Can't wait till next year when we will hopefully be bringing three mares and foals! π
