Not one single inquiry came in for Ginger and Skooter in spite of all of your shares...So we are going to try this again and hope for your help in shares! There's just got to be a home out there for these 2! 🤞🙏🤞

Skooter and Ginger are very best friends hoping they can find an adoptive home where they can remain together. The pair lost their human tragically and while family has kept them as long as they could, circumstances have unfortunately changed and now they must find a new home for them.

Skooter is about 8 years old, he is a 50 pound Australian Shepherd. 9 year old Ginger is a gorgeous collie mix who weighs 45 pounds. They are described as being "very loving, high energy dogs''. Ginger and Skooter do not appreciate other dogs, so they will need a home without other dogs. So if you are currently "dogless" and looking to add some love and fun into your life, Ginger and Skooter could make your life complete!

These friends have been good with children age 6 and up. Neither have been exposed to cats and because of their energy level, it's probably best to keep it that way. These are young seniors! They need a secure, fenced yard to play in and time to learn good leash skills while on walks. We are told both dogs will pull so walking them together will be a 2 person job. They have always had a dog door to go out into their yard to do their business.

Scooter does not appreciate time alone. Ginger sounds OK with it but as they are a bonded pair, keeping them together should help keep Skooter content when the humans leave the house. Of course, as we recommend with any adoption, time should be allowed for these dogs to settle in and learn the routine in their new home.

Ginger and Skooter can manage stairs at this time. They both bark at passersby, cars, and other animals they see outside. This means a home without neighbors who will mind barking dogs is a must. Some dogs bark, some don't. These dogs will! Perhaps more time exercising could help curb this? One can't be certain though. Both Ginger and Skooter are accustomed to going in and out of their home as they please.

We are told Skooter loves to cuddle. He will put his head on your chest. Ginger is playful and loves attention. She will put her paw on you to get your attention. We are sure hoping to help Skooter and Ginger find the terrific adoptive home they deserve.

Ginger and Skooter are located in Milton, WA. For contact information please email: [email protected]

It happens! What to do if your dog swallows their tennis ball!
Remember every second matters during a choking incident.
1. Place the dog on their back. Brace the back against the floor. Straddle the dog while adjusting yourself based on the size of the dog. Position the head in “in-line position” with the airway parallel to the floor.
2. Make an open diamond shape with your hands. Place your thumbs on either side of the trachea below the ball or object. Grip the “V” of the jaw using lip/cheek to protect fingers.
3. Push with a J-stroke down and out against the ball until it ejects from the mouth.
Both this method and the Heimlich method has been proven to work in these scenarios so don't hesitate to save your dog.

"Can't take him to the beach for a walk because he bothers you and messes with the holiday... I'm not allowed to rent a house if I have a dog, and I can't take him.
However, I can take him to the rubble to find you after an earthquake, in the woods after you get lost in the mountains and you didn't have neither map nor gps; under snow because you made a detour not allowed off track; in the water because, despite the red flag, you have entered the sea and your life is in danger! And finally ....
He's just a dog, but he will find you.
And he will save you!!" Dogs are family ❤❤

Friends, Not one single inquiry has come in for Kali 😔 We know it's a busy time of year but we're hoping you all can take the time to hit your share button to help us reach Kali's adopter to be! 🙏Thanks for your shares!

"My name is Kali and I need a new home! I am a 13 year old dachshund mix. At 16 pounds, I'd like to think I'm the perfect size for a lap, or a spot on your couch. I don't take much room up in the bed either! I am a very snuggly, loving girl who just wants to be the one and only in my home.

I do not appreciate the children that have joined my lifelong family. Kids are just too unpredictable and I feel as though I need to protect myself. I have spent my life living without other animals. When I see dogs on walks, I'll admit, I act up. Even when my people tried to introduce me to other dogs, I didn't like it. So if you have a home without dogs, cats or kids, and you are looking for a companion, we just might be a good match!

My people will tell you I am not much of a barker. I will let you know when the doorbell rights-IF I hear it. My hearing and vision aren't as sharp as they were when I was a youngster. But that's to be expected, just like the arthritis I have. My people give me joint support to help with my arthritis, I appreciate that and I hope my new family will continue to do this for me. As a senior girl, it is very important that I receive regular veterinary care and good quality dog food to stay in good health. I'd love to be someone's best friend for many years to come!

At this time I don't get out for walks much. My people do take me out on leash for potty breaks. If you have a fenced yard where I can go out to relieve myself, that's great! I am up for more walks, are you?? Maybe we can work on my behavior if we come across another dog? It'd be nice to learn that I don't have to scare off other dogs and protect you from them!

I can stay alone in the house for a bit before I need a potty break. But if you have to leave me longer than 2-3 hours, I can use a potty pad. I will find a spot on your bed or your couch to hang out on and wait for your return. Because of the children in my current home, I'm being kept alone behind a gate. This is not fun at all. I am longing for a home with adults who can appreciate all of the love I can offer. My people will be sad to let me go but they know it's the best thing for me, to make me happy again. I am ready to start the next chapter of my new life!"

Kali is located in Snoqualmie, WA. For contact information please email: [email protected]

"Hi! I'm Lucy. You are seeing me here because I need a new home. At 8 years old, I am what one would consider to be a young senior. I weigh about 100 pounds, yes I am a big girl, said to be a black lab and shepherd mix. My person will tell you that I am extremely smart and I will have a lot of energy.

I'd like a home with another dog who is friendly like myself but not dominant. It would be fun to have a buddy to hang out with and occasionally play with. I have lived with cats. Proper and slow introductions to your current furry family members is always a good way to start. I have been fine with kids of all ages, but I would do best in a home with children old enough to be gentle and not play rough with me.

My current person has not been able to vet me so I need an adopter willing and able to get me into a vet for a check up and update my vaccines. My skin needs some care and I do have a couple of lumps. Those lumps aren't bothering me and they could just be fatty lipomas but it would be helpful to have me checked over by a vet. As dogs age, we need more care than when we did as youngsters-just like humans!

Currently I stay home alone a lot, I'm a very good girl in the house. I have a kennel. I can manage quite a bit before I need a potty break but it's always nice to not have to hold it for too long. I try my very best to please my person. I will bark when someone comes to the door to alert you. That's what I am supposed to do, right?

I haven't been taken out much for walks lately and I really miss them. I am a well behaved on leash but I am BIG so you should be strong enough to manage me on leash. Once we get into a groove for walking daily, I'd bet we thoroughly enjoy ourselves! I am so ready to live life with someone who can care for me and appreciate all of the love I have to offer! I am need of an adoptive home soon so if you can't adopt me, please do tell your friends about me!"

Update 12/7/22: Old Dog Haven Final Refuge Home FOUND!

A lovely senior girl on our wait list. We are hoping you will share her and help us find a forever foster to send her to!

PERMANENT Old Dog Haven FOSTER HOME FOUND!

(in W. Washington state or Portland, OR only)

Spayed female Australian shepherd, who weighs 57 pounds. This beautiful girl is pretty old, has cataracts but is still visual, has some deficits in one hind leg so shouldn't do slippery steps or a lot of stairs. She's housebroken, probably should not live with cats but is OK with a large mellow dog for company. She's nonreactive to dogs she meets on walks or running around in the next yard - but loves to be in the bedroom with her people at night.

This girl is not in our care yet; we have no facility or shelter. All of the dogs we take into our care go into private homes. We need fosters! A foster for Old Dog Haven keeps the dog for life, with our organization (thanks to donors) paying all vet bills. If you would like to join our network of forever foster homes, please read through the informative link below and email us!
