Wiki Farms apply the open-source collaborative philosophy of Wikipedia, existing in cyber space, to the physical space of traditional farms. Wiki Farms are spaces that grow not only agriculture but all forms of culture; from art to health, education to love, there are ultimately no limits to what can be grown on Wiki Farms. ditional barriers such as money and property, it enables countless people to participate and contribute their time, energy and ideas, thus creating new content and value freely accessible to everyone. The Wiki Farm - Orillia Ontario
Now in its second season , the farm continues to be a gathering place for people and life from all around. The Wiki Farm enables anyone to participate in the many projects and events at the farm for free. People are invited to help create their own projects and events on the farm. Currently the Wiki Farm is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-8 pm and sunday from 10-3 am.. There is a large community garden, and 30 allotments. The farm features nature trails, running water, open fields, historic barns, forests and is in close proximity to a wildlife conservation centre, Bass Lake Provincial Park, and is close to Highway 11. Frequent events centre around the garden, food, music, art and education. The Wiki Farm supports the growth of small grassroots community organizations and projects such as Orillia Community Gardens, Suncrash Music Festival, and Transition Town Orillia amongst many others. We are trying to remove any barriers and costs to participation, so carpooling and alternative transportation to the farm is encouraged. We hope to establish a valuable online community center connected with the Wiki Farm, as well as other open source community spaces around Orillia and the world, through the Wiki Farm Network..
