Study after study has shown that having beloved pets in one’s life has a positive impact on mental health and quality of life. Experientially, frontline workers see the therapeutic impact pets have on the individuals we work with, and they are often the only support vulnerable people have. Unfortunately many of our clients struggle to feed their beloved pets due to limited or non-existent incomes,
and as a result some are forced to let their pets go without enough food; some clients will forego eating themselves to feed their pets; some steal the food out of desperation; some make the heart wrenching decision to give up their pets because they can’t afford to feed them. The impact of these decisions is long lasting and considerable and we can do something to stop it. Our program is intended to help these vulnerable individuals offer balanced nutrition to their beloved pets which will in turn help to avoid exorbitant vet bills and help keep family pets out of shelters. We are an organization run entirely by volunteers and all of the food we are able to offer is generously donated. If you are able to support us in any way, be it donations, time, expertise, please send us a message and let’s talk! Thank you to all of you who have already given so generously and so often. Every little bit helps and I can promise you, each and every one of our clients is incredibly grateful and they let us know each time they come in.
