Clymping Dog Sanctuary

Clymping Dog Sanctuary We take in unwanted and abandoned dogs and also dogs from people who cannot care for them anymore. Our sponsorship scheme supports these types of dogs.

Clymping Dog Sanctuary is a Registered Charity under the Charities Act 1960 - Charity Reg No. 279937

Clymping first opened its doors back in 1952 by Mrs Kathleen Grellier and the then Duchess of Norfolk. As a sanctuary, we aim to find homes for any waifs & strays or otherwise unwanted dogs. We want all our dogs to be properly cared for and to feel safe and loved not only in the time they are with

us but also when they go to their forever homes. Our policy is to never put a clinically healthy dog down which means we sometimes have a few long-term "stayers" until the right owner comes along. From time to time, we do have dogs we take in that have health problems that require veterinary treatment. These health problems can sometimes be resolved after a few visits but sometimes they require regular checks or medication. Sometimes we have dogs that we feel will never be homed due to their condition or behavioural problems. It costs £20 per dog per day to house, feed and care for them. Add to that any vet bills (which can be huge!) on top of this means we rely on the generosity of others to help keep our shelter open, so we can help give all the gorgeous dogs the lives they deserve. You can help keep our kennels running by fundraising, volunteering or by donating, no matter how big or small, via the link on our page. We are so grateful for any support you can give us. Please remember, adopt don't shop! Your new best friend could be waiting for you at Clymping.

This is Athena! She is one of the four Shepherd/Collie puppies we had in ❤️ since she’s been rehomed, she has grown so much and has been working super hard on her recall off lead! We have had some lovely updates on most of the puppies, and we love it!

Its amazing to see so many Clymping dogs thriving in their new homes 🐶🐾

We had special guest Frank and his owner visit yesterday!

Frank was rehomed from us in March 2023. We love getting surprise visits from ex Clymping dogs. They even kindly left a donation!

Frank is looking as great as ever ❤️

Did you know that you can help us every time you shop at Pets at Home?!

On your pets VIP account, you can select us as your chosen charity. This means that anytime your card is swiped when you spend, this gets converted into lifelines for us!
The lifelines after a certain amount, get turned into charity vouchers for us to use in store❤️

Aimee, Pharaoh and Thor are sporting their new collars replacing old, dirty ones. We also managed to use the voucher for specific food Thor needs for his allergies and some fun toys to keep the sanctuary dogs happy and entertained!

Something so small, can mean so much to us and the dogs!

Pharaoh is currently on his 244th day with us💔

Pharaoh has made such a huge transformation since he came to us back in March. When he came in, he was a timid young lad who would lunge when he saw other dogs on walks.
Pharaoh is so much more controlled on his walks now and has blossomed into such a cuddly boy. He loves being stroked under his armpits🤣
He is quick to learn new things and we can only imagine the potential he will have in his forever home when he finds it 🐾
He is going to make the best furry friend for the right person🐶 We hope we can find Pharaoh his forever home before Christmas 🎄🤞🏽

Introducing our lovely new lady, Dolcie ❤️

We have taken a chance on Dolcie, hoping someone out there will take a chance on her.

Dolcie is completely deaf and has been since birth. This means she will require someone to take the time to gain her trust, and why we won’t be able to rehome her with younger children. Being deaf it will take time and patience. Our best example of this is that currently, you need to be careful how you approach her as if she can’t hear you coming she can react.

Dolcie also has a lifelong infection, Leishmaniasis. This is controlled with daily medication but we would suggest any potential adopters look into it a bit more as it will be a condition that needs monitoring for her whole life. Dogs with Leishmania can live good lives with the correct medication.
Please note that we would look to gain financial support towards the medication for this treatment.

Dolcie has some lifelong issues that make her a harder dog to home, however with patience and love, she would make an amazing companion.
Dolcie has been in a home situation where she hasn’t been able to get as much excercise as she needs, so we are looking to the right environment where they will give her the love & energy she needs to thrive.

She is a beautiful girl and we hope people see the beauty we do❤️🐶

We would love to find little Pips home before Christmas 🤞🏽

So far he hasn’t had much interest at all. He has spent 3 Christmas’s in kennels already 💔

He can’t be rehomed with pets or children but Pip would bring so much laughter and happiness to a home. He just needs someone to take a chance on him!

It’s crazy that a dog can spend this long in a kennel without getting a home. Anyone who meets Pip knows how great he is. He’s a typical terrier so is toy mad! With the right people, he would flourish.

Please share Pip in the hope we can find someone special to show him how amazing life can be🐶🤞🏽

⭐️Thor update⭐️

Thank you to everyone who donated to help with Thors medical bills! You all helped us raise an amazing amount. His ears are already starting to improve after some injections and having daily medicated baths for them. He is starting to feel a lot better in himself as enjoys running after balls a lot more now!
We can’t wait until Thor is back to himself completely ❤️

In the mean time, he hasn’t had much interest at all since we popped him up to find his home 💔
He is only a one year old who’s a big softie when he’s more comfortable. He’s good with dogs and children over 10. We don’t want him to spend much of his young life with us 🐶🐾

We are on the hunt for Thors forever home❤️

You guys helped us raise an amazing amount of money to cover his vet bill! He has an allergy to poultry he ended up with his sores, which are hopefully now on the mend after having a change in diet.

He deserves an amazing home!

Please call us on 01903883116 if you would like to give this boy a home🐶

Our purpose...

Clymping Dog Sanctuary was started almost 70 years ago by Mrs Kathleen Grellier & her friend Her Grace the Duchess of Norfolk. Together they wanted to help animals in need. Nowadays the Sanctuary is run by volunteers and is based in Ford. We are a Registered Charity under the Charities Act 1960 - Charity Reg No. 279937 Our purpose is to take in, treat, care for and find homes for unwanted and abandoned dogs in our community. We never to put a clinically healthy dog down, which means we sometimes have a few long term "stayers" until the right owner comes along. We also have dogs who we feel will never be homed and they stay with us forever - for these dogs we run a sponsorship scheme to fund their lifetime care.

The minimum cost to us to care for a dog is £11 a day to feed and home - often veterinary bills take this amount to much, much more. We are a small but determined charity and are continually fundraising to keep the Sanctuary open and provide the best care we can for the dogs.

If you would like to sponsor one our dogs, please find out more on our donations and sponsorship page or you can make an online donation by using the link below. Every penny you donate goes to help the dogs that are in our care today and who will arrive needing help tomorrow.

Thank you x
