PACHO part 2
The full picture.
First video with high value rewards present, second video much less food reward.
Youāll notice how I donāt think I even had to correct Pacho once in the first video as the dog was engaged and seeking to activate and access reward with good behaviour.
The second video is literally a second later where weāre first navigating the steps to leave the footpath and I decided to remove the amount of food reward for this second clip (except the recall at the end - Iām still building value in the recall so rewards are absolutely essential) Regardless, youāll see perhaps 4/5 corrections in the whole video despite navigating our way passed cars, people, fence fighting dogs and all manner of stimuli that previously would have made it impossible to walk Pacho.
If I handed the average person the lead and asked them to get the same behaviour that I can demonstrate the likelihood is the dog wonāt respond the same and I would have to first guide you through the process.
Remember when watching our social media storyās you are seeing small windows of training for both dogs and humans - itās essential dogs learn respect for a variety of different handlers if they are to find a successful future home after training.
We post the good, the bad, the ugly - so if you see sloppy handling - donāt assume thatās an ongoing thing because no handler started off perfect with bang on the button timing and precision.
We will NEVER stop posting REAL training so you can all have the FULL PICTURE!

Reactivity workshop went great!
Saw some nice progress from dogs without any training whatsoever plus some nice practice being put in by existing clients!
Big thanks to Deri Community centre for hosting us!

PUT THE GRAFT IN AND THE RESULTS WILL DO THE TALKING!
Hereās a video of a client practicing sit stays with a 10 week old (crazy and high driven Iāll add) Bull-Herder!
We donāt recommend strict routine for nothing - hand feeding, crate training, conditioning a good, release and no response!
These things are all small parts of a larger system that brings PROVEN results FAST!
The ONLY thing that stands between you and your PERFECT dog is YOU and your level of COMMITMENT!
Big shout out to the owners here! Smashing is as always! šš»šš»šš»šŖš»
Promise - 10 months old - 1 minute sit stay in high distraction environment
Gypsy - 9 months old - 1 minute down stay high distraction environment
The down stay.
Most people go wrong when they teach positions and āstayā separately.
With my dogs they will follow their command until told otherwise/released from this position.
Down means down and donāt move until I say otherwise.
Get the three Dās of training in your brain and stick to them!
Duration - work on the length of time the dog remains in a position
Distance - work on the distance from where your dog is placed in their position ONLY once youāve got where you want with ādurationā
Distractions - once youāve got a solid down-stay from a distance you can start bringing in light distractions and build on this until you have an animal that is confident in their ability and comfortable enough to remain there awaiting a reward.
