We have just had this gorgeous little girl (Aubrey aged 5) come in to look at what she would like for her first proper pet.

Just a bit of a random one, Gary the goose was strolling round shipley and narrowly getting missed by cars and motorbikes. We managed to capture him and get him in a box and he's now been safely released back on the canal. Swim safe Gary!

Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather we are having at the minute. Please be extra vigilant in the heat with vivariums especially those without a thermostat on their heating system!

We always highly recommend our thermostats not only for easy of control for the customer but for the safety of your scaly pets.
not only do they accurately control the temperature within a vivarium and will alarm if there is an issue with the heating (either too hot/too cold) but they will save you money in the long term (we all love a saving!!) by only using the amount of power required to heat to the correct temperature.

Heat will always cause severe damage and even death to a reptile quicker than the cold will.

We stock a variety of thermostats in store to suit your budget and heating element whether that be a heat mat or bulb :)

At long last, we have edible live plants suitable for tortoises! We also have extra large prickly pear pads, an excellent addition to your tortoises diet. Naturally high in calcium and fibre and excellent for hydration! Limited number for now, but if popular, we would love to have them as a regular offering 🙂

Hi all, we had a large delivery of plants on Monday, including well grown on one's for larger vivariums.
We also have a small selection of arid plants, ideal for leopard gecko and dryer set ups 😀 it's something we are looking at expanding so smy questions please pop in and ask!

So, yesterday turned into a bit of a nightmare, spent most of the day chasing our live food delivery. Apparently it was having the scenic tour of Yorkshire! It's been re sent from our supplier, so it will be on the shelves before 12. I'm so sorry for all the inconvenience it has caused.

We always get really excited when new life enters the shop, its always a privedge to see.
Although a realitively easy species to breed in captivity its first time for us with gargoyle geckos.

Just a selection of the bearded dragons we have in stock at the moment.

Easy to house and look after. Very social animals and do enjoy to roam with you (we even have customer that like to watch their daily soaps on tv with them!!! the beardies have even learnt that the theme tune means play time!)

A medium sized lizard but very handeable. Love to eat a range of live food and salad items such as rocket and dark leafy greens.

Morning all,

Unfortunately, our live food supplier have had a collapse in their locust colonies. This has caused huge problems in supply. We have up to 4th (large) coming in today, but we are unable to get extra large 5ths or adults. We are doing everything we can to remedy this and will keep you informed.

Evening all!

It's that time of year again when our work experience students are finishing their college courses and consequently hours in the shop.

We always wish our students the best for the future for what ever path they choose to take. :)

If anyone is already signed up to an animal management course in September, and has a specific interest in exotic animals, why not get in touch to arrange volunteering?
We are able to offer early starts to those successful to make sure you are comfortable and ready for your course.

We are always vastly over subscribed come September so here's an ideal chance to get in early!

How exciting on a Bank Holiday! Our whites tree frogs have been in the rain chamber for breeding for the last 3 weeks after simulating a dry season in their tank..... This is the result :)

Easter came early for us! Our corn snake eggs are just starting to be laid. Look how relaxed mum is during this process :)

When Puck begs to come out and play!!! Our resident panther chameleon will happily sit in his tree all day, enjoying customers company and watching the world go by :)

So our newest addition, little squishy has gone into her big set up this morning! Fully bioactive and she's loving life :) she's now fully on display for everyone to see :)
