I would like to say a very big Thank You to everyone who braved the weather yesterday (15th June) and joined us at our Dog Show in Panfield. It did get a bit damp at times which meant the show did not run quite as smoothly as it could have as people had to dive for cover and everything was getting wet and soggy!
I really have to thank Noreen Cudby who stepped up to judging Breed and LIsa West who took over Novelty and Crossbred. I am very grateful to both of you.

When you come to Dog Training tomorrow - Monday 17th June - can you please stay off the football pitch as it is being reseeded. You can walk your dogs around the edge of the field but please don't let them run on the pitch. Park in the usual place and we will be working down past the changing rooms. Many Thanks.

It is Panfield Dog Show this Saturday coming (10th). This is just a selection of some of the prizes on offer so do come along, they all need to be won. There are classes for all dog including Fancy Dress and please note that there are NO noisy cars this year.

Many Congratulations and Very Well Done to everyone who passed their Bronze Good Citizen last night (10th June). I must give a special mention to Maurice Clayden (I don't think he will mind if I say he is an older gentleman) with 7 month old Min Poodle Jack, he started classes in the new year with his 'naughty' puppy and he has been a joy to help. Maurice even came to classes without his dog when Jack was poorly so he wouldn't miss anything. There was another puppy Ryder the Entlebucher, Haley is an experience handler although it was her son George who has done a lot of the work with Ryder. They are second and third from the right. Commiserations must to go to Kirsty Watts with Chesapeake puppy V***n who could not see why she should sit still when there were so many dogs to play with!

Bronze Good Citizen Test
Monday 10th June

If you are taking the test can you arrive at 7.0 pm for a 7.15 pm start.
The normal 7.45 pm class has been cancelled. I am sorry about this but I will see you as normal next week.

We will be moving to our Summer Venue at The Bell Inn, Kynaston Road, Panfield, CM7 5AQ on April 22nd. Class times will remain the same. Please bring a fold-up chair for yourself. We will be training outside so be prepared for the weather. There is limited indoor room if the weather gets too bad.

Would you like to take your dog to training classes but are busy in the evenings? Training plus run classes on Mondays at 12.30 pm so you can teach your dog good manners and control inside and outside your home.
Training is fun for your dog and keeps their mind active so helps prevent boredom chewing and digging.

The Training plus Christmas Party was held last Monday which was as manic as ever! We played lots of party games, Musical 'Chairs' (Newspapers), Pass the parcel, Fancy Dress, well done Eiche and Benji coming first and second, Potato and spoon race to name but a few. There was even a quiz for the owners. There were lots of prizes and I do hope that everyone got something. Everyone brought some food and we had a great spread which seemed to go down well, there wasn't much left at the end of the evening.
I do hope you all enjoyed yourselves and I would like to wish all of you a brilliant Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.
I shall see you all back bright eyed and bushy tailed on January 8th.

Training plus Dog Training Christmas Party

Monday 11th December 6.30 pm. Stisted Village Hall
All welcome - Present and former members.
Lots of fun and games for the dogs and their owners.
Please bring a few nibbles. and a wrapped doggy present for the Secret Santa. I shall supply the drinks.
Games to include Fancy Dress, Best Trick, Relay Games, Pass the Parcel and lots more. Lots of prizes.
This will be our last meeting until January 8th.

Puppy training this week concentrated on heelwork. Considering how young some of the pups are and that they have only been coming for a few weeks they are doing well.

This weeks training included weaving heelwork around cones that had treats on top of them. They had to get round without either eating the treat or bumping into the cone and knocking it off. All the dogs coped brilliantly. Well done all.

Training last Monday, Send your dog to bed and I brought in a selection of sandwiches, crisps, sausages etc and the dogs had to work round them without helping themselves. Heelwork was excellent, Recall had mixed results!

**Reminder**

We have our first meeting in Stisted next Monday, 2nd.

A while ago, probably before the Covid upheaval, I used to award Virtual Gold Stars to anyone who's dog worked exceptionally well. I have decided to reinstate the Stars and I am pleased to award the first one to Paul Hughes and Roxy for stunning heelwork and A Recall (Return to handlers side). Well done Paul.

Better late than never!
We had a Silver Good Citizen Test last Monday. Well done to everyone who took part even if you were Not Ready, it was only small hiccups and next time you will sail through it.

A Silver Good Citizen Test is being held on May 15th at 7.30 pm. If I gave you a letter about it at yesterdays class please note that there is a typing error. The test is on the 15th May NOT 25th as it is printed on the letter.
This does mean that the second class that evening will be cancelled, the first class will meet as normal but will finish slightly early so can you make sure you are in time for a prompt start.

If anyone would like to attend Angela's funeral it is to be held on April 27th, Three Counties Crematorium at 1.30 pm.

I have some sad news to pass on, to all of you who remembers Angela with Leo and lately Monty I have to let you know that she died last Thursday. I don't know any more at the moment. She was a lovely lady always with a smile on her face and a great love for her dogs who she kept immaculately. She will be missed. Sympathies go to her family and friends.

It was an eventful day yesterday at club. First off I got stuck in stationary traffic for an hour so did not arrive until 1.0 pm for the 12.30 puppy class, many apologies to all who turned up to find a locked hall and no-one there. I am sure that things will be back to normal next week.

The evening went better as we had a Bronze Good Citizen Test where eight out of the nine taking part passed. Well done everyone.

We finally got round to having our club Christmas Party, a bit late but the original party had to be cancelled due to the snow.
This one was not all smooth running, I got into the car to leave for the party and it would not start. After a few frantic phone calls I was rescued by Lisa West who came to rescue me and a boot full of drinks, plates and equipment needed for the games, she took me to Stisted ,stayed all evening to help and then brought me and all my rubbish home again. Many, many thanks. Also my thanks go to Jill Hart who went to the hall to let people know I would be late and then helped to run the party, she always seems to be around when I need help. I am so grateful.

After all the dramas the party went well, I think everyone had a good time, lots of games, prizes and food for dogs and people.

Date for your diary, Christmas Party 2023 - December 11th. I hope that is enough notice!!

I hope you all had a good Christmas and I wish you a Happy New Year.
Classes are starting again on Monday 9th. It has been a long break so I hope you are all rested and ready to continue training.
As you all know our party had to be cancelled so it has been re-scheduled for January 30th I will give you full details when I see you at classes.
I am also trying to arrange test nights for all of the Good Citizen tests, when I know I'll let you know the dates.
