Domestic Doggess part 2 with Talk to the Paw - everyone has so much fun!
Just completed an amazing Domestic Doggess work shop with Clair Hickson (Talk to the Paw), what brilliant group of dogs and handlers. I’ll post video footage from that day later, but for now, here is the Chaining tutorial. Pull, hold, target, drop and close.
I stopped training handstand about a year ago as I didn’t think that it was good for the joints, but as we walked down the drive this afternoon i thought that I’d see if Scooby remembered the cue, both context (walking near the wall) and verbal.
Poppy is getting the hang of this one
We spent some time working in Uber Dude skills this afternoon.
Hand targeting is a great skill to teach your dog, in basic terms, it allows you to position your dog exactly where you like with a force free choice based method.
1 handler place left for part 1 of Domestic Doggess, Sat 25th Downend Bristol. It’s gonna be a 2 hour course learning the 5 core skill to turn your pooch into a helping hand around the house!
Jellybean is a really nervous little terrier x who lacks confidence and even now, spooks easily. I have always thought that it would be great if our recall could be jumping into my arms. We have a very long way to go before there is a finished behavior, let alone proofing it in different environments.
This is a work in progress!
Poppy the skater girl. Look how keen she is!
The sessions are really short, only about 60 seconds and I’m working on reinforcing her for paws on the board.
I had the privilege to attend the #Superdogs course held at Battersea Dogs Home last week and work with rescue dogs, training helper dog skills. What an amazing journey with its ups and downs. Short video clip of my super staffie Lexi
I finally remembered to use the video tonight! 😀😀😀
Moved to a room with more distractions to work on play dead, looks like it's almost on cue
