📢 You might remember a while ago we asked for your cat photos to brighten up our cat waiting room 🫶
Well, finally, it is starting to take shape!
A big thank you to everyone who sent photos, we just couldn't decide, so we picked 12 🤭
Happy National Dog Day! ❤️🐶🐾
Whether you're already a dog owner or dreaming of becoming one, remember these words of Roger Caras…

Today, we want to serve two purposes:
1️⃣ A day to celebrate all blind dogs in the world and ways we can support them – as all dogs are good dogs.
2️⃣ Highlight that whether partially or fully blind, they can lead a fulfilling life with a great quality of life!
Owners support blind dogs by creating a safe space, not rearranging home furniture and training methods such as using audio cues to help make navigation easier and giving them sound-based toys to make play easier for them.
This is only a slice of ways we can support blind dogs.
Here is the beautiful Loki demonstrating both purposes perfectly 👌 Thank you to Tower Vets, Knaresborough for the video!
🤩 Pet(s) of the month 🤩
This months "Pet of the Month" is a little different 😊
We thought it was important to share our journey with a client over the past few weeks.
Starting off with just a handful of farm cats, our lovely clients quickly found themselves over run with in excess of 30 farm cats 🐈
Twice a week, our clients have caught 3-4 cats using traps and brought them to us for neutering. After today, we have now successfully neutered 23 cats 🥰
We still have a few to go. However, this is a good step in the right direction for these farm cats. It means, as our client quoted today, "that they can enjoy just being cats" ❤️ without a continual cycle of pregnancy, birth and nursing.
Here are a few photos from the past few weeks. These farm cats are all so so sweet and in such wonderful condition 😺
They are also looking for good homes. If anyone is interested, please pop in to the surgery where there is a poster with more information 🐈⬛️😻
Unfortunately, due to a driver issue, we have just been informed our delivery will not be arriving today. Please accept our sincerest apologies. We have been informed the order will arrive by 1pm tomorrow.
If you have placed an order with us for a prescription or food in the last day or two, we will be contacting you individually. Thank you for your understanding.
This gorgeous boy came in yesterday for his second vaccination and microchip 🙂
He was very brave and had lots of cuddles with the nurses afterwards...not that he needed them, but who wouldn't want to cuddle him?! 😍
Isn't he absolutely beautiful? 😍

✈️ Planning to travel with your pet this summer? 🌍
An Animal Health Certificate (AHC) is an official document required for your pet cat, dog or ferret to travel from the UK to the EU, Switzerland, Norway and part 1 listed countries not in the EU e.g. Iceland.
To ensure your pets meet the necessary health and vaccination standards of these countries, AHCs are mandatory and specific for each country; they help protect the health of pets against rabies and tapeworm.
Always research your destination and discuss with your vet the best ways to prevent transmission of local diseases to your pet.
For more detailed information and guidelines, check out the official government website here: https://www.gov.uk/taking-your-pet-abroad/getting-an-animal-health-certificate
Make sure you and your furry friend is ready for your next adventure! 🌍✈️
It's National Check the Chip Day 🙌
We are reminding owners to “Check the Chip” as survey reveals 28,000 stray dogs handled by local authorities last year.
⚠️ Please ensure your details are up to date today!
Dental equipment 🦷 Going that extra smile 😁
Did you know?
We have top of the range Dental equipment, including digital dental x-rays. So when your pets are coming in for a scale and polish, it's not just a quick look and clean.
We will carry out a full Dental examination, take full mouth x-rays to ensure any problems aren't hiding out of view and treat each individual tooth.
It's a common misconception that dog and cat scale and polishes are like a trip to the hygienist. They are much more than that 🪥
Excuse me... Do you have a minute to talk about an easy way to support your pet’s health while saving money?
Our Pet Health Plan gives you the peace of mind that comes from knowing that care for your pet is covered.

Our furry friends know how to relax and lounge like a boss! Show us how your cat is celebrating today by sharing your best pics.
Let's give these purr-fect pets the spotlight they deserve!
We have had a dark, polecat coloured stray ferret brought into the practice. He/she is very flighty/possibly feral so we are unsure of it's gender at this stage. It was found just outside of Bromyard.
If you think you may be missing this little chap/lady then please contact the surgery on 01885 488822.
We are sure someone must be missing this gorgeous kitten? Handed in 2 days ago by a member of the public and found near Thornbury.

Let’s squash this myth 🔮
Dog breath isn’t always an ‘old dog thing’, which for many can be the assumed thing.
Just like us, cats and dogs can experience dental issues that require attention.
This , take a moment to assess your pet's breath. If it's less than pleasant, it could be a red flag for dental issues such as gum disease, plaque buildup, or tooth decay.
If you’ve noticed any new dental symptoms in your pet, contact us today. ↙️

Another scorcher today 🥵
Turbo the tortoise loves this heat, but even as a reptile, he will still seek shade 😎
Remember:
🆒️ You can wrap ice blocks in a towel and place inside hutches
🆒️ To check sheds for cats
🆒️ Fresh, cool drinking water available at all times
🆒️ Provide shade for all pets
🆒️ Avoid walking dogs in the heat
🆒️ Paddling pools at the ready for our water loving dogs
If you are worried your pet has overheated, we are here to help. Heatstroke is an emergency, do not delay in calling us with any concerns on 01885 488822.
Friendly reminder that it's not even worth the risk.
Let's keep our pets safe on days as hot as these 🥵
☀️ With this week looking like it is going to be a hot one, please be advised on signs of heat stroke.
Please do not walk your dog in the heat of the day, aim to walk early mornings or late evenings when it is cooler. Hot tarmac can burn their pads too 🔥
Remember: no dog has ever died from missing a walk, but they have died from heatstroke 🥲
Please call us with any concerns on 01885 488822.
☀️ Today was our summer social! ☀️
A chance to let our hair down and relax, we were very lucky with the weather! Early morning walk before it got too hot, then BBQ and croquet 🌞
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful clients for placing your trust in us to care for your animals ❤️
❤️ Feel good Friday 😍
This little dude was found by a concerned member of the public Monday and brought down to us.
He was badly emaciated with fly strike around his head, dehydrated and generally in poor condition.
We discovered an abscess on the top of his head along with a fractured jaw, which was causing him a great deal of pain and discomfort 🥹
We are happy to report following a week of intensive treatment, Stinky Pete (as he's been affectionately named 😀) has gone off to our lovely wildlife rescue today to be rehomed 🥰
🛑 A hutch is not enough 🛑
Rabbits need more than a small hutch to thrive. Confining them to small spaces is cruel and harmful, here's why:
Solitary Confinement: Rabbits need space to run, jump, stretch, dig, and forage, as well as a bonded mate for companionship 🐇
Weather Exposure: Small hutches offer little protection from the elements, leaving rabbits vulnerable ⛈️
Room to Rear Up: Rabbits must be able to stand on their hind legs without touching the roof to avoid spinal issues 🐰
Minimum Enclosure Size: At least 3m x 2m x 1m high—bigger is always better!

☀️ Summer days are here, and it's important to keep our furry friends hydrated!
Whether it's a trip to the park or a garden play session, make sure your pup has access to plenty of fresh water to beat the heat.
Remember, a hydrated dog is a happy dog! 🐶
We have had a dark coloured ferret found near the industrial estate in Bromyard. He is quite poorly, please contact the surgery if you think he might be yours. 01885 488822

Top tips to keep your fur babies cool this summer ☀️
😎 Make sure they have fresh clean drinking water available
😎 Make sure they always have access to a cool shaded area (both indoors and outside)
😎 Exercise them early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the hottest part of the day
😎 Take water with you on walks
😎 Offer them a paddling pool under supervision
😎 Apply an animal friendly sun cream to pale dogs’ noses and ears (Dogs more susceptible to sunburn include Boxers, Dalmatians, Dobermans, French bulldogs, Greyhounds and Weimaraner)
Remember -
❌ Never leave pets in a car or hot room such as a conservatory on a hot day
❌ Hot pavements can burn paws (If you can’t hold the back of your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds it is too hot for dogs feet)
