Happy #BlindDogDay
Today, we want to serve two purposes:
1️⃣ A day to celebrate all blind dogs in the world and ways we can support them – as all dogs are good dogs.
2️⃣ Highlight that whether partially or fully blind, they can lead a fulfilling life with a great quality of life!
Owners support blind dogs by creating a safe space, not rearranging home furniture and training methods such as using audio cues to help make navigation easier and giving them sound-based toys to make play easier for them.
This is only a slice of ways we can support blind dogs.
Here is the beautiful Loki demonstrating both purposes perfectly 👌 Thank you to Tower Vets, Knaresborough for the video!
☀️ Summer days are here, and it's important to keep our furry friends hydrated!
Whether it's a trip to the park or a garden play session, make sure your pup has access to plenty of fresh water to beat the heat.
Remember, a hydrated dog is a happy dog! 🐶
Top tips to keep your fur babies cool this summer ☀️
😎 Make sure they have fresh clean drinking water available
😎 Make sure they always have access to a cool shaded area (both indoors and outside)
😎 Exercise them early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the hottest part of the day
😎 Take water with you on walks
😎 Offer them a paddling pool under supervision
😎 Apply an animal friendly sun cream to pale dogs’ noses and ears (Dogs more susceptible to sunburn include Boxers, Dalmatians, Dobermans, French bulldogs, Greyhounds and Weimaraner)
Remember -
❌ Never leave pets in a car or hot room such as a conservatory on a hot day
❌ Hot pavements can burn paws (If you can’t hold the back of your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds it is too hot for dogs feet)
