ABOUT MY BUSINESS
During lockdown I passed my time by doing lots of arts and crafts with my son and in
doing so, I noticed that not only did I really enjoy drawing, but I was also not too shabby
at it
! I started to do
portraits as presents for people and this progressed to friends of friends asking me and
before I knew it, I was selling them! My dream is to do this full time as my sole
profession. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Thank you for choosing me to create your portrait. Please find below details of my pricing. Once you have made the size and colour choices for your portrait, the next step is for you to
send me some photos – please see below for my advice on photo selection. At this point you
will also need to pay the deposit of £20. If you have a deadline date for completion of your portrait, please be sure to mention this,
as although I estimate a rough date for completion, sometimes my estimations can be a
little out, depending on how the portrait goes. Once I have made a good start on your portrait I will keep in touch and will send you
updates. Once completed I will send you a photo and I ask clients to feel free to give honest
feedback at this point, as it is always good to learn from your feedback and I can always
make changes where possible if something is not quite right. Once you are happy with your
portrait, I will spray it with a protective coating and prepare it to either be collected or posted. If you would like your portrait to be framed there is an additional cost, I currently only
have the option of a very basic white Ikea frame, but I do have plans to offer more choices in
due course, and these will be hand made by my very clever brother. If you would like me to
send your portrait by post, there will be an additional charge to cover this cost. All of my original artwork is protected by the current UK Copyright legislation “Copyright,
Designs and Patents Act 1988”. This means that you purchase the original artwork which
will belong to you, the image, however, is the sole property and copyright of Pet Paw-traits
By Sam and can be used as undertaken by Pet Paw-traits By Sam. Again, thank you for choosing Pet Paw-traits By Sam and I look forward to making a
start on your portrait. PHOTO SELECTION:
Where possible, I prefer to work from high resolution digital photographs. These do not
need to be taken with professional equipment, a decent phone camera is usually more than
adequate. I fully understand that if you are commissioning a memorial portrait, you
might not have any high quality images available. I am always happy to advise over
which photograph might yield the best results. Please always bear in mind that the level
of detail in my work is a reflection of the quality of the reference image. If the photo(s)
you supply are low resolution, the details in the portrait will be much softer. I am able to
work from more than one photo, so do not worry if you cannot capture all of your subjects
in one frame. For best results please ensure the lighting and quality of the photos are
similar. CHECK LIST FOR PHOTOS:-
• Photo must be in focus
• Taken close up (not zoomed and cropped, as this reduces the resolution)
• Captured in natural light (flash photography & extreme sunlight are not advised)
• Photographs are not heavily edited or filtered. Original file is preferred
• The image should hold strong details when enlarged to tablet/laptop sized screens. Please check this, as it might appear clear as a small thumbnail on a phone screen,
but once expanded it could be heavily pixelated.
• A well lit face and eyes are the most important
