Last night we welcomed 40 farmers to Scarsdale Farm Vets for our sheep client talk '"Synchronising Your Ewes; What Options Are There?" covering everything from why synchronise or advance the breeding season, through to laparascopicAI and everything in between!

It was great to be out and about at Staffordshire County Show last week with staff from Scarsdale Farm Vets and Glenthorne Farm Vets, particularly great to be able to support clients in the show ring - here's Black-a-Licious Coloured Ryelands who came away with a number of places and rosettes; including 1st in the 'Best Breeding Ewe' category for Coloured Ryelands.

Earlier in the year, farm vet David Charles was approved membership to RoSA, The Register of Sheep Advisers.
RoSA is a network of professional advisers working within the UK sheep industry. The aim of the register is to provide UK sheep farmers with appropriate advice from recognised professionals, who can support them to develop sustainable farming systems.
RoSA has a range of members covering a number of subject areas including vets, financial planning consultants, EID software and hardware specialists, nutritionists, feed advisers and environmental scheme consultants.

We had a fantastic night yesterday at Scarsdale Farm Vets enjoying a very interesting evening watching Ben Strugnell discuss farm pathology and post mortems.
On average there are 400,000 infectious sheep abortions a year, with ~50% of these being caused by EAE (Enzootic Abortion of Ewes); abortion storms average 12-15% but can hit as high as 50% of the flock. With so much on the line - can you afford not to vaccinate?
If you're tupping in October or November, call your vets today to sort your abortion vaccines as they must be given 4 or more weeks before tupping!
